LoL - Thank you! This is an awesome solution to vine making! Thank you for taking the time to make this video! On a side note: If you can think of some awesome projects for the remaining 2000 feet of backer rod I have - that would be awesome! ROTFLMAO 🤪
I started to make these seconds after seeing your video. Many here in California no idea big oaks, hanging vines or Spanish moss. Our wedding sites and reception areas, even our little hidden photo spots craved vines. I added spool wire in my thinner vines an thicker within foil. We have left every vine up. That's 2,000 + feet. We love them so much we're adding more to our Louisiana Vampire Hall. I just wanted to let know they have weathered beautifully. And some now have trailing of real ivy on them.
Kinda feel like a paint tray would be good for that instead of reaching in a bucket you can pour the solution in the tray and have a dipping station that doesnt have high sides you have to deal with.
I like the foil center. I did a huge vine for an exaggerated creepy pumpkin stem using just brown craft paper and glue/water mix. I did have to use a couple pins and a small piece of wire in the end to hold the shape I wanted it to twist in but it worked out well. The foil core would have really made it much more bendable and held shape easier. I’m definitely using this method for additional vines. Great stuff as always!
@@StiltbeastStudios yes I did... I was amazed at the painting combined with the actual vines really gave it that filled in look. Also I liked the way you made the columns pop. I hope to see the set when it is complete and lit! Oh, maybe I should post this comment on that video... anyway... it's all good stuff! Thanks for posting these videos
Is there a way to help weatherproof them a bit? I need to make a faux vine canopy thing that will be outdoors... would need to last 4-8 weeks. THANK YOU for showing the actual supplies in the store and putting extra work into tutorials so they are easy to follow :)
these are weatherproof- the skin being elastomeric roof coating they are fine outside. you could replace the paper towel roll with fabric if you want to go the extra mile
Thanks for re-uploading this video. I appreciate it. I’ll have need of many vines in my new yard haunt this year. Good method for making a volume of vines in expensively. Keep up the great work.
Thanks Allen! What a clever idea. That's why I love your channel. I know its paper towel, but with all the latex and latex glue, do you think it will hold up with a little rain? (not a full monsoon) maybe add some clear coat for outdoors?
Saw these at dark hour! I had to touch one because they looked amazing! Had a nice rubberized/ latex feel to them. So happy to see this video! Will be trying some myself in the near future
New to the channel and I love watching you create! I keep telling my husband to watch -- I know he will enjoy watching you work too. Thank you for sharing your talent.
Great idea using foil and the roof coating... Our Haunt group (CalHaunts) made a bunch of vines for a display at Midsummer Scream a few years ago. We developed a technique using a piece of jute twine as the core and using plastic drop cloth and using the heat gun to shrink it (like your corpsing technique) then dipping it through exterior latex paint and dry brushing additional colors. The twine allowed us to tie the vines in place
I really appreciate you showing how you do this. My wife and I did your skeleton corpsing with the plastic drop cloth and heat gun and painted them Bombay mahogany wood stain. Turned out great, I show everyone your video who asks how we made them. Currently making another skeleton, but taking it a step further and doing your corpsing 2 video with the clear silicone, expanding foam and I am putting in acrylic eyes that can be backlit with led lights. Only partially done, but have gotten a bunch of compliments. Awesome work, Thanks 🙂
@@StiltbeastStudios Definitely! She is the Halloween fanatic that got me into it. She corpsed a full size horse skeleton the way that you corspe your skeletons.
It was so cool to go through Dark Hour on the Texas Haunters Convention haunt tour, and see all this stuff you made. Every other scene had something you showed us how to make on UA-cam! Thanks Allen!
Hi Allen, Trying to think of a way to start out with a thicker base that would work its way thinner. could you used something like a pool noodle and then combine the foil technique as you get thinner?

Hey, there I just wanted to say you are awesome the things you do create are amazing! I do have a suggestion instead of dipping your hands into that bucket using a paint tray it would be lowered to the working surface and could bend it on the big side so you could pull your material through it easy but it is just a suggestion you are the guru of this stuff!!!!
I'm thinking perhaps a shallow rectangular container for the paint latex mix might be easier to use than a deep bucket. A cat litter tray or similar. Also, I've just discovered your channel and have binged about 10 hours worth in 24 hours. There are so many good ideas both from the perspective of 'I didn't know you could do that with that product' to 'that's a better way of doing it.' Sadly, here in Australia, Halloween is not really a thing.....sadly.....very, very sadly. OH SO SADLY! Some of your techniques I can adapt to puppet making though... something you inspired me to pick up again after about a decade of not doing it. Your glass eyes video was very interesting. The poop-a-scooper bear puppet idea is fantastic. Thank you for reminding me that building things is fun.
Great vid allen..just a suggestion..if doing alot of these..set up an 8ft section of gutter on your worktable with endcaps siliconed on previously..put your vine mix in there and it makes wetting a larger portion of the vines at once in the length of the gutter..and ring out and tighten as the other person keeps tension and pulls the vine out..makes the job go so much quicker!
Those are amazing looking vines. You come up with these awesome ideas, how do you figure out the supplies necessary to then make whatever? Simple genius

that would work, this way was pretty fast though and I was able to just lid the bucket.
Wouldn't a deep well paint tray or other similar container be a bit easier to work with rather than a bucket?
maybe, when Im done I just put a lid on the bucket. So that was easy.

they hold up pretty well, the elastomeric is made to be out doors and the latex will hold up as well as any latex prop outside.
