Amazing! I love that this only has 3 materials and yet looks so good! Also really like when you show how you use the things you make in the videos out in the attraction.
This is a GREAT WAY to MAKE ROOTS... THANKS! I need some idea of how I can make something for myself.. and Now I will try it this way,,, and maybe add my own TWIST on this.!!
I’ve been to the transworld show in St. Louis and have wanted to meet you but I always figure I’d leave you be because I know how hectic those events can feel. You’ve really inspired me to bring some new details to the haunt I work for in Iowa. Your videos and creativity in the industry are amazing.
Is there anything you cant make with locktite foam? 🤣 Just an idea. If you look for either a local or online graffiti/art supplies store, get yourself some fat caps for your spray paints. Youll get broader and faster coverage, probably a more even spray too. I only say this because I notice you pull the can back to get more coverage but it doesn't seem to cover much with the cap that comes with it. This is usually the case with non "art" type sprays. Also I find putting my cans in some warm (not hot) water for a few minutes before painting helps a lot with the flow too. Being able to cover a lot quickly adds up in a lot of saved time long term. New york fat caps are usually what i'd recommend as a good all rounder. If some of your cans are male and not female uprok make adapters too. You can use them for years if you keep them clean. At only a few cents a pop it's worth investing in.
Amazing use of peat moss! Another one of your wonderful "affordable" hardware store solutions. If you had purchased a bag that big of scenic flocking from a craft supply it would have cost 10 times more money.
Alan, those roots look so much like the real thing. that Loctite is awesome. I love the fact that you can shape it however you want or have however many you want. Alan you are the ‘Root’ of my creativity har har har Seriously we really appreciate your videos. Thank you ❤️ 🤘🏻🎃🤘🏻
@@StiltbeastStudios thank you! We got very lucky this time, but many prayers are needed for a little town called Cole just south of here.. we only got 1" hail but they had a major tornado go thru. Hopefully noone got hurt. Much love from Oklahoma! P.S. after storm season, I'm planning to start on Halloween projects, incl your spooky trees and roots, dementors, and a maybe a reaper holding a lantern... thank you for the ideas! Muah ha ha ha ha! I'm gonna make stuff!
I saw plastic on a table and a spray bottle. It was at that moment I knew the roots were coming from a can. 😂. In all honesty si have adapted so many things from your channel into my own reptile channel. Spray foam is great for diy reptile decor and backgrounds
New subscriber here. These things are bad ass! I'm definitely going to try this method this year to make vines growing out of my eaves. I tried GS rubbed over 3/4 inch rope but the results were meh. Do you think the peat moss will wash off in the rain?
Thanks to you making me by lots of Loctite, the ORANGE store raised the price by over a dollar, thanks. Its June and i just had cornea transplant and once doctor takes the stitches out i am making roots to cover my house door, 12 foot high and all around it, i'm thinking in sections so hot do i glue this stuff to itself. The small roots from last year were ok, but i'm doing it up, 2 cases of Loctite. So when i go oer budget i have referred my mean wife of 24 years to you, good luck.
Dude, you make the absolute best props. Sure would have loved to have had you around, or known about your channel, back when I was decorating for Halloween. I live way out of town now, so I don't bother anymore.
I am so jealous. I see you make so many awesome things with the loctite expanding foam and I would love to make things with it too but just one of those tins/cans cost over $64 here in the UK. And I have tried a lot of different expanding foams but none seem to be as good/durable as your loctite. Best wishes 👍
I love your content. I'm making a Cryptid zoo for a Haunted House this year and will be implementing several of your ideas. Do you have any ideas for a Kraken or at least the tentacles?
Ooooo... you picked an awesome topic to cover and create on the cheap. (At the current moment, I occasionally draw and make things because college is demanding much of my time for the semester. But yeah, I tend to struggle with drawing roots that look halfway decent.) Now, I can make my own roots as a 3D model! Thanks again, Allen!
@@StiltbeastStudios Will do! 🐈 Also, I could probably make those roots into lightning bolts if I make them jagged and more erratic looking! What do you think?
Peat Moss....who knew!! Do you use the flexseal because its also acts like a glue for the moss? (instead of just black spray paint) As always, thanks for your vids
EFFORTLESS MASTERY!!! By the way, who is that lady inna sweater what is always seen wandering about in your video movies?!?!? I'm very fascinated by her and her journeys in the shop. And yes, in case you're wondering, I AM very easily distracted in my daily life and not just when watching your worthwhile instructionals! 👻
Hey Allen, how flexible is the loctite foam once cured. I was thinking of using this technique to add roots or vines to the arms and legs of a costume.
its not, it gets hard and a bit brittle like other spray foams- the window and door has a modicum of flexibility but not much. they are durable if they dont have to flex though.
I like the way it seems Allen is doing nothing special, that you have no idea what he's doing or that it can ever possibly look anything he says, but then suddenly it always comes to fruition, and looks just like it's meant to be. I bet he hasn't slept in months, due to lying awake at night thinking what else he can do with foam!
Amazing! I love that this only has 3 materials and yet looks so good! Also really like when you show how you use the things you make in the videos out in the attraction.
I like to keep it simple! You will see more of projects inside of DH now that we own it.
Love your stuff. Thank you for sharing your props. You are the Bob Ross of prop making. 🥰
thats high praise! thanks for watching!

I used to go through so much fullers earth, and now I work on finding cheaper off the shelf solutions!
The Peat moss is a great idea I love it.. I am sure you could use it for other things that need to look like they are covered in dirt.
yeah it makes great dirt and gives a great smell to sets as well.

Great video, have used the spray foam for tree trunks and roots but never used the moss. Will try that thanks.
it really makes these be over the top in my opinion- its the moss!
Amazing. Thanks for the info.
You make thing look so easy. 👍🏻👏🏻
you can too!

Not gonna lie this is very cool
no need to lie, I appreciate your input!
What is the benefit of using flex seal instead of spray paint?
its thicker and ads a bit of texture, its also stickier and holds the peat moss on really well.
I'm thinking about attending one of your classes if you still offer them, could you give more information
the info is right at stiltbeaststudios.com under monster camp
That spray foam plant roots would look great on a table as part of the centre piece Halloween decoration 🎃💀🧟♂️
they do look really good, it makes me angry how good they look.

possible, but Id a clear silicone caulk lightening bolt so You can run light through it!
@@StiltbeastStudios That's a cool idea. I like it!
Awesome, thank you
thank you for commenting!
These look awesome. How durable are they? Could they put up with being part of a costume and movement?
Id go with the foil for that and they still stay a bit flexible- do a few coats of the flex seal for added strength and they should be fine!
@@StiltbeastStudios Awesome! Thanks!
Well, besides roots you've given me other ideas to use the spray foam for!!!😅
sweet! go make stuff!
Could i do this for a aquarium system in the water
I dont know for sure so Id rather not say yes- Id hate to make a bunch of fish halucinate.

indeed, its also a weather proof barrier for the foam

@@StiltbeastStudios what would you recommend?
Id use something like backer rod foam or Id use my favorite vine material....soaker hoses, they are textured and flexible and they can be painted.
Can these be used outdoors?
yes they can
Can you use spray paint instead of flex seal? We are just making these for a Halloween decorations and won't be saving it.
sure, just maybe use 2 coats
@@StiltbeastStudios Awesome 🙂 Thank you!
Won't the flex steel eat the foam?
only expanded and extruded foams are eaten by aerosols. all the other types of foam are fine.
Love it
I've used a similar process to make guts and other gore.
yeah, guts are like the first go to with sprayfoam I think- good stuff!
Is it a particular type of “spray foam” im in Nz!
It's very white in color, not yellow. I dont know if you have loctite in NZ.
Loctite has gotten expensive! I'm so glad I bought 5 cases before it got so expensive.
online its not too bad, about $6 at walmart.
Love it ❤❤❤
