Sims 4 Console Tutorial | Placing Objects - Free placement & rotation, Size and height, Cheats bar

Hi there!
In this tutorial I will walk you through the controller buttons for placing objects in The Sims 4 on Console.
I play on a Xbox but a friend of mine plays on a Playstation and the buttons are the same. The are called differently, but the location on the controller is the same. For that reason I added a picture of the controller in the top right corner of this video. So if you don't play on a Xbox, you can still see which button you need.
It does take some getting used to using a controller instead of a mouse, but trust me, with some practice it will be fine :)
In this video I will show you the following things:
Free placement
Free rotation
Changing object size
Changing object elevation (height), with tip to make your life easier
Using filters
Finding the cheats bar

Just got back into the Sims again after years of not playing and this was exactly what I needed! Thank you. I find it pretty annoying that we have to use cheats in order to change object elevation and that’s a huge missed opportunity on EAs part to not just make that part of the game… decorating your Sims home and customizing things is one of the biggest parts of the game and with how long it’s been out it’s disappointing they haven’t patched that in by now. Instead they do updates for things that really don’t matter all that much like the one that came out today lol.

Every time I try to raise objects (I have the cheat on) it just raises it to the next floor level not just raising the object itself

You have to place something on the counter, then move the counter out of the way. Then you can grab the item that you've placed on the counter (moveobjects should be on for this) and move it to the place you want it to go. Then you can place the counter back.

So my trigger buttons are the undo and redo buttons for some reason? Any help on getting it back to that?

My triggers are also undo and redo, but it depends on if you have selected an item or not. For instance: if I’m holding a chair, the triggers let me place it on the grid or not. When I let go of the chair, the triggers to back to undo and redo (at least, when I’m not in a menu..) They change what they do in different contexts, which is kind of annoying.

The same thing was happening to me. Instead of clicking them, I selected the item, held the both down and then moved the item and it worked

I wish I knew. But as far as I know you can only zoom in and out and rotate the camera. Not change its angle on console.

@@MissWestSims there is a way to make the camera angle in build mode point straight down. i believe you press the left arrow on the d-pad
