  • This is an unabridged recording of Japanese Tea Ceremony. There are many schools of tea that teach The Way of Tea, Chado or Chanoyu in Japanese. In this video I'm showing the ritual performed in accordance with Urasenke teaching.
NagaO, is the serving of thick tea using a tea container with a long cord.

I have tried to make the yojouhan look as authentic as possible but try to use local materials. I ordered some items from Japan, like tatami and shoji paper.

I enjoy the knots, they are a bit of work to learn but fun.

This is a summer temae correct? Is it coupled with a specific usucha temae?

Furo is traditionally used in the summer. However, a naga-o can be used in both summer and winter. In winter you would use a RO but the handling of the shifuku and cord is the same summer and winter.
In a chaji there is no set usucha temae you need to do after naga-o and there is no equivalent of naga-o for usucha either. Maybe the closest in feel would be some of the shifuku handling in chabako.
