This is a really nice soup base. It’s delicious on its own but a really nice addition to more involved recipes. I haven’t made this yet but I will swap out Lima beans with Cannelini.
Definitely team Apple here, my little Braeburn tree was laden this year I’ve been picking for days . Apple butter a couple of pies and the rest canned up for crumbles and pies ❤
This is so awesome. I love, love, love soups. Thank you. Is canning scary? I want to start but am afraid to try. Any recommendations on an easy to use, safe canner? Any tips are greatly appreciated.
I don't find it scary but I was taught canning growing up so it has never been a 'new and scary' thing for me. A Presto canner or All American are both well known, safe brands.
@@PlowAndPantryHomestead Okay. Thank you very much. I’m going to start with the seasoned rice jars that you showed. Then I’ll work my way up. I got the Ball Blue Book today.
This is soup is on my list this week as well. Question about the Nesco, I have one as well, the booklet says WIDE mouth only... I've done regular as well, do not always get all 5 sealed... Have any idea why it specifies WIDE mouth?
I must have an older manual than yours because mine doesn't specify wide mouth but I Iooked it up and the current one does say wide mouth. I tried to find out why but all I could find was a vague reference to the canner closing better with wide mouth jars. So I pulled some of my jars out and the regular mouth jars are slightly taller than the wide mouth jars. I had noticed that I get better results with a full canner if I use wide mouth. Maybe the height interferes with the pressurizing or something? I really don't know. I personally only worry about it with a full canner. GREAT question!
What seasonings did you decide to add to the soup? I want to make it but I am pretty clueless on what seasonings to add. 😳 Thank you for the video. Very helpful!
@@aurawright2130 I added salt to this pot but when I reheat it I plan to taste and add accordingly. My fresh homemade soups tend to have thyme and oregano, sometimes basil as well.
You give a lot of good tips for beginners. I've been canning since i got married in 1965. Thanks to my mom for all her help.
That is awesome!
I love both pumpkin and apple 😊
I guess that's allowed. 🤣
Thanks for the tip my canner has done that several times.i will try that
That is another soup for the books thank you
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the idea of doing quarts at the same time as pints.
You are so welcome!
Thankyou for your recipe
My pleasure 😊

Yay for team apple! 🍎
I would have to say that I am more for apple than pumpkin. I'm not crazy for pumpkin. ❤Claire (Bobby's wife)
