I am now an official rebel canner! I’m tired of the siphoning and constant pressure changed in the pressure canner. My barbecue tasted like it was burnt! What I canned today came out awesome. I’m putting my pressure canner away!😏

You can always add some beef broth when you’re reheating to serve if it’s to thick. This would add flavor where more water might dilute the flavor. I water bath canned so much last fall that o burnt out my electric stove! Had to finish up the canning on an open fire in the back yard. Garden is slow this year but the cabbage is jamming so thanks so much for this recipe!

When my grandmother made kraut, she would trim the core down from the cabbage, and put it in the kraut to ferment, everyone would fight over who got it, it was like a treat to all of us! I still do this today, with my kraut every year!

oh I just realised I have all these ingredients and nothing to do tomorrow....... :D
EDIT: ok, so made this, had some today. My daughter made scones a couple of days ago, so I heated one up and broke it into pieces on top like dumplings and it was so yum.
Edit again: ok, buying more ingredients to do a double batch, I cant risk running out of this, its too yum!

A very gentle kind word of advice. Please do not bang metal utensils on the rims of your jars. You will chip them and also easily chip glass into the product that’s in the jar.🤗🤗🤗

My daughter loves soups to take to work, cabbage and black beans. So I'm going to make this using black beans. I'll let you know how she likes it. Love your channel. My Mom taught me to hot water can before I got my first canned 40 years ago. People thought I was crazy for water bathing for 3 hours then instead of pressure canning for 90 minutes. Thank you for bring this method back to current mind. A lot of beginners in preserving don't have the money for buying a pressure canner plus the canning jars and lids. This method helps them get started sooner. You don't have to have a pressure canned to help stock your pantry.

I made this soup and WB canned it this weekend and OMG!!! I was doing a happy dance when I opened a jar and tasted it. At last, something with ground beef that doesn’t tasted burned. I had all but given up on canning anything with ground meat because of the awful burnt taste and texture. Thank you so much for sharing this. ❤❤❤

Got all the stuff today to make this! Loooooks wonderful! Going to make it tonight. It is 93 degrees today. Waiting for it to cool off a bit. I don’t mind making it over night. I used ground turkey because it is cheaper and added some leeks, because they were on sale. Can’t wait! Yummmmm!

Love this recipe, but I did not have Beef broth powder so instead of water I used a quart of BEEF BROTH for cooking it. Worked out really well!

I don’t have a problem with you water bath canning this soup, but I’d rather not do it that way myself, I’d rather pressure can. Can you say what you think the difference would be in the end product if i pressure canned it instead of water bathed it?

Hi! I love your videos!!! They have taught me so much as I am a newbie canner. Do you have a link to the metal lid opener you use? I see sooooo many on Amazon and want one that won't dent the lids. THANKS

Have some good recipes for celery soup and broccoli soup which I was going to try water bathing, I know it’s not the done thing but wondered if it is something the Amish or Mennonite community might do ? What do you think ? 😏😃

Hunni I went to Amazon to look for that book. Even EBay but… they have many of that title but not the same picture on any. 🤷‍♀️ I found the Five Roses cook book after I lost everything in the house fire- I used it ALL the time and the purity cook book. A friend gave me Purity and I found the other. They were from my parents - and - I found them badly scorched snd can’t read the sides at all but glad I have those 👍. I know how I felt getting them and wanted to surprise you with the one you wanted … I’m in a canning group on Facebook and lots of questions on things that can’t be water bathed and I advertised your channel about the series of Amish and water bath canning everything.

That looks great, I’m going to make that. Also the treasured recipes, is there a year or a code # on it?

I like love love cabbage soup just wondering what the integrity of the cabbage is after cooking and then water bathing for 3 hours I kinda like my cabbage a bit under cooked 😬
