    Nathan your setup is incredible and you are right no one has ever shown how all the stuff that runs the systems is laid out. What an Incredible Professional job you have done and it's very similar to what I will be doing with my cockpits the only difference being I have real cockpits to retrofit into simulators. Your layout and incredible organization is really inspiring and motivating. Really looking forward to your rebuild updates soon! Thanks again for sharing! Tom Waldon TWA 717

    I've seen some setups on youtube but this has to be the best so far....really nice.
    One suggestion, maybe you could extend all the power On/Off switches to one central point just inside the locked door....would make for an easier startup...
    What a setup though....👌

      Thanks mate. The reason I don't have a master switch for all is because when the sim is not being used. All pcs and cockpit power is removed from wall for protection. I do have ups and spike protection devices but for peace of mind I still remove the plug from the wall when not in use.

    Excellent videos. Very well produced. And your sim isn't bad either. I just dipped my toe in the water by ordering the JetMax-737TQ, which will be my family's big Christmas present to me this year. I will probably stay on the JetMax side, rather than the full-blown FDS setup, but your videos have still been useful for me in thinking ahead to the components and configuration that will be required (and desired) for my more modest setup. Here's hoping you have great simming and no CTD's.

      +Nathan M Hi Buddie, LOL yer was not a happy camper that night for shore, But lucky I built the sim off the ground and with the couple of holes I put in the Sim wall and lifting the screens about 4 inches the water just went straight through without damaging any thing. YAAA Hoo.. Once you start flying you never get out...lol Ive just spent most of today flying the world tour 2015 but not on vatsim, its so hard todo buy yourself in a real size sim...soooo much todo.. We will catch up. Again nice videos.

    That is such a professional set up. Love the total commitment to getting it right Most impressive part? For me it has to be the projection system with the screens spaced away from the 'windows'. The effect is so realistic! Thank you for a great video.

      Gday mate. I don't use wake on lan, as I have to go around the front to turn everything on at the wall sockets anyway. I may be over protective but, I am funny about leaving the sim connected to power when im not home. Just very cautious. cheers mate

    Hi, I am in the planning stage of building the same thing, I have a few questions.
    1) do you use P3D Pro Plus or just Pro?
    2) What warping software do you use to blend and align your 3 displays?
    3) Could you please do me a big favor and measure the distance externally from the left/right edge of the cockpit to the screen and the furthest point from the front (nose) to the screen. I am planning the space and it's very hard to find the distances that people use.
    I would really appreciate it.
    Thank you

    Brilliant sim - I can only dream that my sim is going to be like that one day - excellent work!!! I'm trying to spec my PC array at the moment - what spec is your P3D PC - chip and graphics card? - and what FPS are you getting? - Just wondering whether to go WidevieW straight off, or go with your setup. Cheers.

    • @melbourne737project5
      @melbourne737project5  8 років тому

      +flyingspeedtriple
      gday mate. I have single pc for all visuals. Rampage extreme motherboard. 3960X CPU CLOCKED AT 4.8 GHZ. and have titan gpu. I have setting pretty high with autogen off on P3D 2.5. I get average frames 60 on light scenery, 30 on dense scenery but with really dense scenery with heaps of weather it goes down to about 25.
      I will be trying out P3D 3.2 soon and want to see how it handles, then i might go to wideview if i cant keep 60 FPS locked.
      With a sim set up like this, you really dont want to have crappy frames, it really kills the immersion. I would say 30 to 60 fps is what you should aim for... Thats my honest opinion.
      Thanks for the comments mate.

    • @flyingspeedtriple
      @flyingspeedtriple 8 років тому

      +Nathan M Wow that's a higher spec PC than I had planned - I was thinking of getting maybe an i7 6700k OC'd to maybe 4.6 or 4.7 Ghz and a 980Ti. I agree with you - stutters and lag on a large screen would not be good. I'll have to think about it some more! I haven't had any experience with P3D v2, but have v3 on my desktop and I'm very impressed.Thanks for the feedback buddy!

    Hey, the base of your sim is 18 inches. I have height limitation in my space and was wondering if in your opinion I'd be able to cut down the floor by 6-8 inches or so? I would like to know your thoughts. How much clearance does the yoke mechanism require?
    I appreciate your help. Thank you

    • @melbourne737project5
      @melbourne737project5  7 років тому

      gday, it all depends on what yokes you want to use. The yokes i have were supplied by FDS. They are real yokes and real columns with real cross bar underneath. If you were to use yokes from ACE yokes, i believe you wouldnt need any clearance as they are a on top bolt on device. Only thing is i dont know if ACE supply linked yokes.
      I hope this helps.

    • @jackthepiot
      @jackthepiot 7 років тому

      Thank you for the answers. I also do want to use the FDS real yokes, do they require 18 inches of clearance underneath? or are there a few inches that are not utilized and can be trimmed?
      Thank you again.

      G'day mate. Good pick and Yes this is also something that I had to work out during my construction of the sim room. I have not done it yet but I will be installing access panel on the ceiling just behind the projectors. I will access the roof by the other man hole in the instructor station part of the room and then once in the roof i will ba able to get above the projectors and reach down through the access panel to change the lamp.
      Thanks mate

I have been so busy with work and other commitments i have not been able to complete the sim. I have the last couple of components arriving soon and then its all go! Circuit breaker panels are about to be shipped off and all plans are drawn up and the rest of aft cockpit equipment have been collected.
      Once last stage is about to start, i will post a fresh video. I really want to wait until sim is complete before making flight videos. Time is my biggest issue. But stay tuned mate, believe me more videos are soon to come!
