The walk takes you from the car park near Jersey Park in Briton Ferry through Britton Ferry Forest and up the side of the mountain. The first part of the walk is uphill.
The walk then takes you around the top of the mountain before dropping back down to the car park. There are alternative paths to explore and the short diversion to the reservoir.
The 4-mile walk takes about 1 and a half hours

That mountain was my playground when I was a kid in the 70s.
The pylon at the top of the firebreak is near to the look out (a craggy outcrop) where you can see right across Baglan, the bay, Mumbles and Swansea.
The reservoir was very large expanse of water, where we’d fish for small fish. Or for me, usually fall in…
Bygone days, sadly missed 😢
I love walking my dog's up there.especially on a dry winter's day.
Keep posting Marcus these are great 👍
Glad you like them! I hope to do a few more when I have time
Bet it looks a lot greener in June ;) great video thanks for sharing
I'm Briton Ferry born and bred, I love this walk. At the highest point by the big stones, you can go left and up even higher. You get one hell of a view. Then you can go even higher and you reach an iron age hill fort. You can still see the mounds or ramparts and a grave dug out. It's awesome. If you want to see it let me know. Cool videos man! 👍
Thanks for the info, I will try and take another walk there and have a look,
Pretty sure we used to have an annual school cross country run on the route. From Cwrt Sart school
i grew up in Baglan,so spent a lot of time up there, its a great mountain with lots of little paths,in the vid at 1046 on the right, theres a path that takes you on another great walk that will take back to the Briton Ferry side, worth trying next time
Thanks for the tip 👍
Love these walks, but full of spirits
Hi Marcus at around the 12:08 mark there is a faded path way you can take on the right and it will take you to a little place called the lookout where you can see all of Baglan, sand fields and most of Port Talbot It’s a real hidden gem
Thanks for the tip
That looks like a wonderful hike Marcus. Fantastic scenery and beautiful scenery. Sometimes the most beautiful gems are in front of our doorstep. Great video!
Yes, it is surprising what's on your front door.
Just discovered you channel, love the videos.
Cheers
If you’re ever in the area check out the Garth Mountain, lovely views of Cardiff and the valleys from there.
Thanks, will put it on the list.
Live around the corner from there, haven't been up there for years. Forgotten how nice it is. The TV show you were thinking of maybe Children of the stones. Was shown at teatime after school and scared the you know what out of me 😮
That show was scary!
There’s a special place in hell for people who litter in beautiful places like this ☹️
Agree
Hi Marcus and Mel. Hope all is well.
We're good hope you are OK too.
@@marcuswalks doing fine, thanks.
I wonder if the children's sci-fi TV series you mentioned was 'The Changes' from 1975?
That could be it, I'll look it up. Thanks.
Briton ferry is absolutely amazing born and bred ferry girl ...
South east Wales is a very special part of the world
Thank you Marcus! I love your trips you take me on! Beautiful scenery and quiet there. Please keep your videos going 💞🍀🐝🌹🙋🏻♀️

@@marcuswalks You are welcome Marcus, from Missouri USA‼️I told my niece about you, she has loads of Welch dna from her fathers side. I have some also, along with mostly Scotland-Irish. God Bless your day🙏
Oh! And please have some fish and chips for me🙋🏻♀️all our ocean fish comes frozen😫and that ruins the taste! Say ‘Hello’ to your wife! She is wonderful in your videos!
@@joanneweislocher8540 Thanks, I'll tell her. She doesn't come on the walks I film although she does come on many other walks. Yes, we both love the chips!
Another gem thanks Marcus
Thanks 👍
Did the same walk last Autumn. What a hidden gem! Thanks for sharing.
Yes, it is
The res was lovely in it's heyday before they destroyed the main wall.people enjoyed going their ,wild camping ,fishing and swimming. But they didn't like people enjoying themselves for free .so they destroyed the res . It's a great shame because they used the water via helecopters to put out forest fires .
No one to my knowledge drowned in the res ., which is good news.
Yeah I can understand being scared of pylons.
Lovely, not a soul in sight.
