He would tell us how he had to swim in the water and walk on high scalpers. Also, he helped to build the New Orleans Superdome/Mercedes. Lastly, he was in the Ironworker Union. I watched a documentary some years back showing how one group of women gathered the grass, then another group wove it into long strands about the diameter of their arm, and then the men joined these into the length of the span and then platted them into the main suspension spans ending up with what you show here.
I wonder how these bridges were built. Those people who built them were so intelligent and creative. I salute them. Thanks for sharing this marvelous scenes

Looool Kakum made this list. went on school trips when younger in Ghana. I’ve walked those 7 bridges several times. It is only scary when you are on the only one on the Bridge it seems it swings more. It is up very high in the tall trees of the rainforest. When you look down you can’t even see the ground. Oh I miss Ghana.

I live in Washington State, and know the Deception Pass bridge well. There is nothing inherently dangerous about this bridge. What's dangerous is the "deceptive" waters below, with very strong, roiling currents that have caught many ships unawares and destroyed through the years.
I have been over the Royal Gorge Bridge a couple of times when I was much younger. It's not dangerous unless you do something stupid. It is unnerving as hell when the wooden planks you are driving across move slightly and make noise. I wouldn't go across it now, but that's only because they charge too much money to visit it.

The Mackinaw Bridge. It connects the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to Lower Michigan. It is 7 miles long. It is known for big storms & high winds. Sometimes the bridge has to be closed because these winds have blown vehicles off the span. It's a long way down to the water below.
Only 5 miles long. They do escort some vehicles across in high winds with a speed limit of 20mph. Very occasionally do they close it. And they will drive your vehicle across for you if you are afraid. On Labor Day it is closed from 6:30 til noon so people can walk across it. 21,000 crossed in 2021. Only two vehicles have gone over the side. One was a suicide and they other was a small car called a Yugo. Also a possible suicide. We have crossed it many times I. Our car/ and 45 ft motorhome with a car being towed behind. Only twice did we have to be escorted across.
Random fact I was in the area visiting family because I grew up just south of it, and it actually had to close for a bomb threat- which I mean not related but its still crazy

I enjoyed this but might recommend more videos with longer amounts of time covering each one more specifically. This video progressed so quickly I could hardly rename maybe 10 of them... and most of those are ones of which I was already aware ...even typing this comment I must have missed about 6! Some of those bridges just look dangerous because of their height about the ground. You left out the original Tappan Zee bridge in NY, over the widest part of the Hudson River. When I last crossed it, decades ago, it was OK. But apparently, it really deteriorated over the years, to the extent that it has since been replaced. There are also apparently thousands of other bridges in the US that might not look dangerous, but have degraded into terrible condition, such that people using them don't have a clue how much they are taking their lives in their hands when using the bridges.
Can you imagine facing death everytime you cross most of these bridges??! And I am deathly afraid of heights so just looking at these bridges gives me a fright! 😱😵😅😅

I was just in Florida on a independence camp, actually, and my counselors drive over seven mile bridge many times, and thankfully nothing happened. It was also very nice to look at.
The glass bridge in China has this interactive bit where it scares tourists by pretending to crack underneath them I found it funny as but wouldn’t go on it myself lol
Now panels have dismantled because of 90mph winds, while a tourist was on the bridge clinging to the railing for dear life. The bridges with just two cables are safer than the glass bridge imho. Lol

I have gone over the Skyway Bridge in Florida, & it was a horrible experience. The high peak of the bridge looked like it disappeared into the sky before we reached it & once we crossed it. I HATE BRIDGES! & very high highways! My anxiety will not let me cross them.

Now panels have dismantled because of 90mph winds, while a tourist was on the bridge clinging to the railing for dear life. The bridges with just two cables are safer than the glass bridge imho. Lol

I have gone over the Skyway Bridge in Florida, & it was a horrible experience. The high peak of the bridge looked like it disappeared into the sky before we reached it & once we crossed it. I HATE BRIDGES! & very high highways! My anxiety will not let me cross them.

I actually drove across the Royal Gorge bridge in 1984, it was pretty cool. I believe it is only open to pedestrian traffic now.
I live near the royal gorge n hav driven over it several times tho i havnt been there in recent times!!!! It was scary!!!!!! And it is still open to car traffic!!!!
