This is one of our special use vehicles. It’s only used to bring the patient to the ambulance, but it’s versatility has proven itself over and over again!
I say without a doubt, one of the coolest rigs yet. You can tell how genuinely Mike is impressed with this! Shoutout to these providers for being so creative and caring for their community.
This one of the most impressive pieces of apparatus I’ve ever seen. This thing has innovation written all over it! It’s super versatile. Awesome video!
That tiny little thing got more lights than all of our firetrucks together 😂 love the US for their safety credibility, when it comes to emergency vehicles!
Always wondered what the cost of one of these was... definitely worth the investment though if it's outfitted right and utilized enough by the department
@@HeroesNextDoor we use ours acutely not much… just fairs and sport games and just standing by… mainly first aid… I think we used ours once for an emergency and that was when we had flooding in the city when the dams broke in Michigan.
I love these, I work on 5 or 6. They don't get much use. Every time the city has a event they want them running. The new asap have tgb engine not the best but they are working well, on Intimidator frames.
This thing is freaking awesome! If that air conditioner on the roof has a solid metal top panel, they could mount a spare tire on it. My FD has a 4x4 Ranger with a small water tank & pump plus a mount for a patient next to it, but there's no room for an EMT on the back. We also had to beef up the rear suspension because it would bottom out with the water and only the driver on-board. I wish we had a proper 6x6.
As nice as this is. It’s just too expensive. When we looked at one, we could not afford the 50,000 price tag. We opted for a KIMTEK insert for a John Deere 6x4. Cut the price in half. We have the stretcher attachment. Plus we installed an aftermarket cab to enclose the front. Now we are working on getting a fabricated enclosure for the back.
@SAMCA San Andreas for an ambulance, yes. But for an ATV ambulance, which would only be at special events and trail/off-road emergencies it's a little above our price range. We are also a volunteer organization
Have just stumble on your UA-cam channel and like the reviews you have been doing, even though I'm no longer involved in Fire or EMS services. If you've not done so, yet, you might want to consider reaching out to the University of Delaware Emergency Care Unit (UDECU) and talk to them. One of the premiere University/College EMS services in the country. I was a charter member of that group when they were formed in late 1976. They have grown dramatically since those days and are a stellar group of university students.
I’m from a very rual community and I never even thought about using one of these at events. My dad is the EMT Chief and he’s mentioned that it’s a nice concept, but just not practical for his set up. The nearest hospital is 30 miles away so it’s easier just to take the ambulance as close as they can and use a pickup if they need to get closer.
Hey, same fire apparatus vehicle have the firefighters district Harburg, Hamburg City, State Hamburg, Federal Republic of Germany as first responder at festivals/sport fests, for the woodlands, for the lakes, and at the river Elbe. In this configuration it is 90 km/h (55.92 mph) fast and a true off-road vehicle too. Have 60 cm (23,622") free space to earth and place for 4 people and one patient.
This is brilliant. There are lots of trails in Tamworth New Hampshire and North New Hampshire I bet the fire departments would love to have one of these. How is it in the snow?
@@HeroesNextDoor If you guys are okay with it, could you go through Australia police cars I think they are way faster than American police cars thanks guys!
What a great little rig! Here in Australia we use Toyota Troopcarrier ambulances for off road locations, but this would be great to back up our e-bike paramedic response units at big events. Just a question regarding BLS and ALS. Is a cardiac monitor used only by ALS or is it always used by anybody and just not mounted during filming?
ALS is slang for paramedic. BLS means EMT, equivalent to an ambulance transport officer. Basic level of care that can’t do cardiac monitoring, iv medications or intubation, etc. that’s reserved for paramedics (als level care).
I would like to not start an argument or cause confusion but it can be used by any level of medics to monitor hurt raytheon. There is also three levels: BLS (Basic Life Support) ALS (Advanced Life Support), and then paramedics. That being said it depends on where you are. They just don’t have it equipped probably just because they didn’t either think about it or didn’t want it.
Hi FF Borrello, I have not heard from you, how are you making out with Nashua Fire Rescue? Any luck? Have anything scheduled? Please let me know. -Dave
Our city has one… but it has everything without needing to switch over any equipment and it’s a paramedic unit staffed with two paramedics, I just am not sure if it’s full time or if the crew of an ambulance switch’s to it… we don’t call ours an ambulance cause if we did it would have to be registered and cost a lot more.
Are you (medics) allowed to answer a call with a non-registered ambulance? Or is it just called 'Rescue' or similar and only used to stabilize the patient and move him/her to a more open spot where a 'regular' ambulance can take over? I would assume that calling a vehicle an ambulance also requires that the crew can perform a predetermined minimum set of tasks as part of the certification.
@@2Fast4Mellow they are allowed to transport to the hospital if needed though most times though most times it would do a transfer to a normal ambulance… ours is called a rapid response unit so it is registered and can be treated as an ambulance but it’s not a registered ambulance… I am 16 I was told this two years ago… I would need to find out more clearly. For us we mainly use it at fairs, carnivals, and sport games where we need first aid standing by and a small unit to be able to get into the crowds as long with golf courses and trails… including trails on the hospital campus and college campus.
@@EricWhiteTheGamer Thank you for the clarification. I've lived for 30 years in Europe where an ambulance is always an ambulance. For me it is a little weird that something that looks like an ambulance isn't an ambulance, but a rapid response vehicle.. That is also part of why I watch channels like these. There are so many cultural differences between Europe and the United States that even after 12 years I still keep learning new things which are usually very subtle..
Those side windows could be popped out and there's even a chainsaw under the bench if they had to make the opening bigger. The FD is usually with them too.
I never understood how healthcare workers especially in the US can be so overweight. I understand that their work and schedule must be very stressful but still..
Speaking from personal experience. EMS providers don’t have the time to get a good workout as some of the other professions. It’s never been incorporated into the work life. Not to say it shouldn’t it the administration has to buy into it and give these people the time to take care of themselves. Meaning mental health and physical health.
The US needs tens or hundreds of thousands more people in each of these fields: EMS, firefighting, police, military, and healthcare. We will take almost anyone who can pass a medical exam. Being overweight can be a slight obstacle at times, but I'd rather have more staffing.

I wonder how much the extra length and weight hurts the off-road capability. Also wonder if it is slow from that weight.
They said it would do 35mph, stock it would probably do closer to 50mph. I’m sure the weight makes it a little less off-road capable
