In most cases those who think they have nothing to loose aren't bothered about prenups but in reality marriage can potentially leave you worse off. Growing up i thought prenuptual agreements were for "rich people" but clearly everyone should consider this before making a decision to marry.
I am a Black Christian woman.and let me tell you what I have been getting from Black people and from Christians about marrying in community of property....Christians(obviously not all) feel like if you marry out of community of property then you are saying that the marriage will not last,so they choose to move in faith.and they also feel that "the 2 become 1 means in EVERYTHING,so why split the finances...and then the Black people that I spoke to feel like if you don't marry in COP then people will start saying "my house" , "my car" ,"my tv".but the reality is, for as long as you not happily married, whether in COP or not, pride will be there. of course its not ALL Black people and its not ALL Christians,im a breathing eg of those that wouldn't marry in COP.but my point is that our people need to be more educated on this and be more open minded.this has nothing to do with stability of a marriage.its a business decision that allows the family to have a roof over their head should things not go well for 1 partner. when it comes to finances, make FINANCIAL decisions,not emotional decisions.obviously im for marrying out of COP, but whatever you choose, make sure you have weighed things out,dont just do what your parents/pastor/friends tell you to.
im christian,i married my wife with a prenup. when I fell into tax trouble and was left with zero money after I settled sars.my wife and kids were still able to live great life .so we as the black community always think negative staff in this regard then reality catch up with us.just imagine that hustler who wanted to hustle Lerato Kganyago,I have an uncle like him who is divorceprenear from 5 marriages nikka hustled poor ladies.smh
thank you for the advice. as the majority of the people within our community only speak of love. however, love also has financial implications that no one takes that into regard. it is important to research the implications of something. for instance, being married out of community property has its own implication. for example married out of community property further splits into two categories. taking an informed decision is thus important. thank you.
