So Sonia couldn't face Jamie's funeral, but got over it so much that in later years she married the man who'd caused his death? ( then cheated on him with a woman, and contributed to his mother's death for good measure!) Never really liked her, tbh.

I used to work with Steve mcfadden's uncle in real life and his uncle got killed in a car crash on Xmas morning 2002 and the ironic thing is Phil's nephew Jamie in ee died the same day (Xmas day) and the most ironic thing is both funerals was the same day. My friends wife was killed in the accident aswell and the funeral was really sad as when they carried the coffins out they played the soundtrack to Armageddon ☹

I remember watching this when this was on TV, I watched this with my mum and my ex step dad and when the song evergreen by Will young played my ex step dad thought I was crying and then my mum said to me "it's only a story babe!" 😂 lol the very first time I cried on an eastenders episode was when Wellard the dog died back in August 2008 and I'm quite surprised that it didn't show Jamie's Burial 🤔
Oh god I remember Wellard dying :( The only thing that justified it was the adorable scene where Tiffany tells Robbie he died xD

Lol i've never cried at anything like this i've had tears in my eyes but that's just from getting into the story and just been in that moment.
I wonder if this is one of the reasons why Sonia became a nurse. She couldn't save Jamie but I'm sure she's saved others since.
If I remember right when Jamie told her he knew he was dying they talked. He asked her to finish her training and keep the rooms bright and cherry for the patients so they would have things to look at, Sonia also gave her engagement ring to a couple she looked after, thinking Jamie would approve.

That's why he was reluctant at first to do a speech.

Regardless of the things Phil did to him (tbf, Jamie had some of it coming. Lying to Phil about Louise's true paternity + letting Lisa escape with Louise), Phil loved Jamie as if he was his real father. Phil loved and respected Jamie more than he ever respected Ben, Jay, Louise, or Dennis.
The only 3 people qualified to give a speech were Sonia, Robbie and Phil.

On the contrary, Jamie was treated the best (by Phil at least). Phil actually respected Jamie, which is more than can be said of his other kids (Ben, Louise, Jay, and Dennis).
Dennis was still a little boy in Phil's eyes. Phil loved him, but didn't respect him. Jay was just a temporary Ben + substitute sidekick. Phil has ignored jay's existence since Ben became a hardman (and since he got a new sidekick in Keanu). Phil knows Louise is just a blonde bimbo, just like Sam. We don't even have to get started on Ben 😂.
Phil loved Jamie AND respected him enough to let him in on all Phil's schemes and feuds. Jamie was the son Phil wanted. Jamie was the one Phil treated best.
