I must be extremely lucky. I’ve been up to NW AR 10 times and never had a tire issue. Some of the best riding out there has been on my Vittoria Syerra/Mezcal/Barzo combos and also a few trips on my Aggaros. Some of the best riding around!!
(On the subject of course markings): On the other hand, If I am traveling across the country to race and am paying a significant amount of money to the race promoters , I SHOULD be able to count on the course to be WELL MARKED. I say this with years of personal experience of promoting AND MARKING race courses for off road motorcycle races, including former state championship hare scramble series in Missouri, where the terrain is extremely similar to Little Sugar, and where rider speeds are very slow, to faster than a manual powered mountain bike will go. It doesn't cost any sizable amount more from a race budget to do it properly, but some organizers don't even ride the course themselves to insure the markings are done WELL. Also, mark EVERY major turn with TWO arrows, one right under the other AT EYE LEVEL of a rider on a bike or thereabouts, and mark the WRONG way with a "W" or "X" within 15 yards of the turn to let riders KNOW they are going the wrong way. Not rocket science and makes the race enjoyable for everyone, not just the smartphone technically inclined and endowed. Beginners who have an interest in getting their feet wet in racing shouldn't need to invest in electronic technology just to compete, and older riders whose eyes aren't as good at seeing phone screens should be able to count on arrows, guys.
Just moved to BV. Very helpful. Thank you.
