    There can't be a fail here due to one technicality: You challenged yourself to play it as fast as you could. You played it as fast as you could, then tried faster. Playing it as fast as you could was therefore achieved :)

    Nice job! As a double bassist I appreciate the difficulty of playing at 200 bpm. Infact, I found the most difficult part is that at some point you begin to start going too fast and then it is even harder to slow down to revert back to a tempo that is still very fast. I had to use so much rosin and arm weight to slow me down (I find it harder when I can't just go full out speed wise).

  • @DARKSIDEART2022
    @DARKSIDEART2022 7 років тому

    Why is this titled with the word fail in it? This is absolutely wonderful. You cannot fail when you play like that.
    I used to make my Orchestra teacher red faced and furious, because, at random times, anywhere during a classical piece we were playing, I would immediately break into this song, or pop goes the weasel, and return to the song we had been playing, just as fast.
    I even did this in school concerts, in front of an auditorium of stunned parents.
    Good times :D

    I've played this tune verry often with an orchestra. (as an extra, "zugabe" as our German neighbours call it) starting slowly and accelerando. By the time we reached 170 bpm the audience was clapping their hand, shouting and whistling on their fingers of pure joy and excitement so tha no one could hear any mistaks anymore. You would be the star of the show, the Stehgeiger (if that word is known in English?)

    That was awesome, and as a sailor, I took extra delight in your performance. I was expecting the strings to catch on fire at 200 bpm, but you make it look all too easy, and as a person who only knows how to play a kazoo, I know that playing the violin is extremely difficult to play, let alone perfect as you have done......bravo zulu (Navy jargon for good job)!!

    Alison, I would guess that you might be aware of a band called Steeleye Span. They do a version of this song live where the start the piece at a fairly normal tempo and then progressively speed things up to about where you were towards the end of your video. It's really neat to hear the entire band going faster and faster to the point where it's almost ridiculous. I'll try to find the link and post it here.

    Wow! Great Video, You're incredibly talented!
    May I ask you (or anyone who can answer this), is learning to play the Violin difficult? I already play Piano (...though I am not fluent, I can read music, play songs, and know the theory behind Piano), but I am very interested in learning the Violin. Also, does ones' age play a factor in the difficulty of learning (as I am 18?)
    Many Thanks, and keep up the good work!

      Dear Boy!
      I can assure you that watching the videos of this beautiful teacher and a little practice, you can easily learn to play the violin.
      You are a 18 year old boy, I'm a boy, but well lived 69 springs, Thank God.
      I also play piano and banjo, and only about 7 months ago I bought my first violin, and if you want to see my results, you can see on youtube: "En el ACA ruta 2 a Mar del Plata".
      You are allowed to laugh , and I like to know that you found my video.

      +The Online Piano and Violin Tutor I noticed that you seem to just use the camera mic, but that time you used that clip on mic. I am also using a camera to record my progress, and I have wondered if its worth while using something like that to get a better recording sound. One thing I noticed is when playing the violin it can be really loud and its hard to really hear it, but when someone else plays it and I'm a further away I can enjoy it more. :)

    • @TheOnlineViolinTutor
      @TheOnlineViolinTutor  8 років тому +2

      +David Marks (ElectroTinker) It totally depends on what im doing. If im just do a tutorial where im playing odd parts here and there, I dont bother with the palava of setting up my mic and studio as there really is no point. If im doing full performance videos (like the ones i do on my performance channel) i do the full works as I often sell the mp3 of my playing as they are professionally mixed and recorded.

    Have you done a video lesson on what concentration at speed actually consists of? Everything that I have tried that involves simple movements connected in sometimes complex ways at high speeds (notably fencing, but also "sight reading" a mountain bike trail, and trying to learn the violin/fiddle starting at age 45) has depended on getting my conscious mind out of the way so that things can happen faster than the speed of thought. As shabby as my playing is, even now after 17 years of bludgeoning it, when it works it's like an out of body experience in some ways. Certain movements have to be autonomic. Then I can try to work with things like dynamics and embellishments, but only once I know so well where I'm going that the basic framework of the tune more or less can't be lost. But how is it for a real professional who had a younger start?
