  • 7/10 for my work. Returning to this kit after so long to test my more refined painting style. While the details of the model are greatly shown this painting style lacks the color and character of my previous work. Couldn't find the balance between the old character and the new style and as such I feel something is missing from this kit. But it's still good, but it could be better.

    Finally someone who paints the horns correctly. The most worn part of the horn the very tip so I never understood why so many painters paint the tip the darkest.
    Excellent paint job on this model! I really like the colors you chose as well. Making the tentacles lighter really gives great contrast with the body. Well done!

    Now this is awesome. Your style works really well with models with tons of texture. I think - I think the internal organs and boils could have used brighter colors to stand out better? Also the base is positively revolting.

      Thanks! And yea I agree the organs are a bit lackluster but very detailed, could have been brighter.

    Love the skin tones, something to tie him into the base would have been better, sort of transfer of blood from the sores into the mud and mud onto the model?

      Thanks! Yea it probably would have been better but bases have always been my weak point in making them great.

      @@joyfulpainting700 Look at some great diorama builders and model armour builders like VMS and it gives some ideas but two secrets are what is the materials its in and looking how the model got there ie tracks, mud splatter. When I use pigments (concrete pigments are cheap for lots) I put a selection on the base and fade them up the legs. In this case I'd see it having a furrow in the mud leaving corruption and blood in the mud, with it being caked onto the lower half. Another one would be the reflected light, you could start with a darker yellow/brown for the reflected light in the shadows. I've got a nurgle/deathguard army to paint if I ever get time at home so been working this out for ages. I do think nurgles rot (or my own mix with fluorescent pigments) will play a role having it drip from orifices onto the ground.

    I just thought that if u do the last beast if u do it with the mouth on the stomach you could put nurgles rot coming out it’s mouth is that a good idea or not

    • @joyfulpainting700

      That is not a question of good or not. That is a matter of taste, you could add a little bit here and there to add some character/flavor to the model. However I didn't because at that point it would obscure some detail and I felt it would have been a negative at that point. However the model did look very clean so some of the diseased may have helped. But again that is a matter of preference/taste.

    Instead of a primer, you airbrush the base paint? Does that work well?

    • @joyfulpainting700
      @joyfulpainting700  10 місяців тому

      You can, but you need a paint that is designed for airbrush priming.
      Priming creates a base layer that holds on to the model and primer is designed to have a really good grip onto plastic.
      If the base layer is not a good primer you could accidentally "wipe" your whole paintjob off with very little force needed. So get a good primer that is the foundation of the model.
      I can't personally recommend any airbrush primers as I don't use them. Hope this helps!

    Super glue is cleaner? Gah, disagree.

    • @joyfulpainting700
      @joyfulpainting700  Рік тому

      It's those little lines of glue that spread out and could cover a paint job.
