as someone with social anxiety this is exactly what i'm worried about other people thinking about me when i eat in public
I used to be like that, but after making friends and getting a girlfriend you suddenly don't care what people in public think of you. Then you realize that the other people in public with friends and girlfriends feel the same way. Then you realize that none of the strangers really cared about you the whole time and that all that stress and anxiety was just painful for yourself and meaningless.
@@tucker8071 wow that is really nice of you to go out of your way to write this. thanks friend, that sounds like good advice, even if it may take me a while to get where you are XD
This is exactly why it's so important to be percieved by others as unimportant. There is a strong correlation between noticing and caring. If people see you as important, they've basically already decided to notice and care about you. In an emotionally mature society with well-boundaried egos, that can be nice, even essential to our well being. But in this society I would never choose to be important, noticed or cared about. Because I would be on chronic trial for whether I can inspire, affirm and excuse every single person's insecurities that I happen to trigger. And I'm far too insecure to accommodate that.

So true. It's funny how people do think personalities matter more than issues. We try so hard not judge candidates by who they are, but fall foul to it eventually. Kinda like with the British "Pasty Tax" (which is still a stupid idea from Parliament IMO). Cameron was so quick to not be disconnected from the masses on the count of being seen publicly as a toff.
