We are On the Road Again, this time to recovery a Motorhome buried to the frame on the beach at Sand Hollow State Park. We have a yearly event called Trail Hero and so we have thousands of people visiting the area, the camping and parking spots are a premium. Sometimes people get in places they didn't intend to be, usually in vehicles that shouldn't be where they are at! Many times vendors come in after dark and the entire area is soft sand that can change from one day to the next. These guys were sponsors of the event and we are very grateful to have awesome supporters and vendors! We were very happy to help get pulled out and left them with a nice 1 inch Rope for the next time they get stuck! It was a good "first job" for the 5 ton and now we just need to get more gear in the beast, including a bigger Kinetic Rope. Thanks for coming along for the ride. As always, Thanks for Watching Casey Trail Hero Event ua-cam.com/users/TrailHeroStudiosvideos

Brilliant. Impressed by the safety, measures, your experience and sense of humour ,the ropes, and your new truck. Best thing is you can justify buying it to your other half! Thank you for posting.
Should contact George at Hill Towing and Autobody, he just impounded a truck like yours with 3 big winches and a rotating boom, perfect for sand recoveries.
Watching this as a former H8 operator in the Army is thoroughly entertaining. My truck was the big boy, an M984 HEMTT. We used to idle stuff like that out of sand with that big piece of sh!t. God, I miss that truck. Subbed and bell rang.
5 ton looks good with the new bumper and winch - water tank back on for ballast? DId not know that motorhome had the plow package. Was that Optima Jim?
Just found you guys usually watch recovery and 4x4 stuff from Australia I live in the bush in Nicaragua got nobody like you guys here have to be self sufficient and good neighbors with an Ox Cart to pull you out. I have a Toyota Hilux 2.5 diesel 4x4. Love my 🛻.
I snowplow with my buddies M1090 sometimes here in Va. That is an awesome truck. Several years ago I spent more time pulling state trucks that were buried in the snow than I did plowing. Great video.
In the ARMY my tracked vehicle broke down in the desert, it was 13 tons plus a 10 ton trailer, a 5 ton pulled me out with no problems, are awesome trucks.
It almost look like more trouble to hook it up, then pull it out - lol. I'm new around here, but I did recognize Eric from that other channel. He's a funny man.
If there ever was a right tool for the job...! That 6WD is just awsome, I absolutely dig it. And who knows, it might turn out to be a very good investment. Between the Nodwell, the Kaiser (how great is that name by the way :D) and your knowledge of the area/offroading in general, you now can provide services pretty much no one can in your area (I reckon). Plus you actually are a mechanic and can fix stuff properly on the fly if need be (btw, how about using the space on the back of the 6WD to put a little mobile workshop/workstation on there? That weight over the rear axles might come in handy anyways). You might end up being the first call for truck and motorhome recoveries.
I have passed on quite a few in the past. Although we have used Tractors and Multiple vehicles for recoveries similar to this. The right tool in the end costs the customer less! Instead of hours winching and multiple vehicles you bring the right tool for the job and get it done. The fewer people and equipment makes a job scene much safer. Less exposure to injury or accidents.
@@CaseysOffRoadRecovery I might have said it before but I'll say it again - I think it's great to see someone in your profession actually caring about safety on the job site btw..
when I packed and was an outfitter, with my mules and horses in the 4 Corners area up in the Colorado Rockies, I had a military surplus 6x6 M-211 "Jimmy" Deuce + A Half. A bed from a military surplus, 6x6 5 ton Kaiser "M-816" (equipped w recovery boom), could be swapped out for the cargo/troop carrier bed on your 6x6, handier equipment for handling the bigger recovery jobs .
Looks like the irresistible force met the immovable object. The irresistible force usually wins...... unless you break something. Nice first outing for the 5 Ton.
Mountain Dew makes it all worthwhile doesn’t it? Good rescue with ‘the beast’, just love to hear this dude running, idling or revving...Butch from Florence Texas
I'm a Jeeper but those rigs at 6:00 and 8:30 are some real off road buggys. 10 times better than these 60-100 thousand dollar Jeeps I see being built. I would love a video seeing the one on the trailer in action. BTW Love the 5 ton. Matt Just bought one too on Demolition ranch. They look like they would be a PITA to ride and drive though.
I have been tempted to take my Mortorhome on the beach and this is exactly what I envisioned and I didn't do it. What usually happens in my life is that when I do something ill advised I usually tear up a bunch of expensive stuff but it looks like the dodged the bullet. The generator exhaust was at risk but may have turned out OK. Good vid.
I don’t live far from there it’s easy to get yourself in a bad situation at sand hollow. The sand looks solid packed then you drive on it and start sinking. I do agree that’s a giant rv to drive on the sand but I can see someone not familiar with the sand there thinking it’s solid enough to support them. I’ve been close to getting stuck in my Subaru work car a few times. The sand at sand hollow I always say is like micro ball bearings it looks safe to drive in but it’s some soft slippery sand. You definitely need a 4wd and need to air down and have some recovery equipment before exploring too far at sand hollow.
That goes from hard pack to bottomless baby powder in a couple inches most of the time you don't know you're sinking till you're bellied out it's strange sand nothing like beach or river sand most people stop and park and are on top of it and as soon as you put it in gear to leave you go straight down
Hmmmm we will have to open up some serious discussions. I will also need to review the footage of the Jailbird trip to ensure you took good care of it and didn't abuse it in any way shape or form.
Sponsor or not, the RV driver has WAY more money than smarts! “End up places they don’t intend” - it was a conscious decision to drive that BUS onto the sand!! 🤣😂🤣
I still think it should be a requirement to get a CDL to drive personal vehicles that large. People tow a 40ft 5th wheel behind a diesel pickup and tow a boat behind the 5th wheel, shit that's a doubles/triples endorsement for me.
there is a big fifth wheel trailer just to the left of the motorhome ---- if someone tells you to drive down here everyone else is doing it --youd probably do it also
Should have just stayed there on the beach in his RV.... "But officer, I can't move this RV. It likes it here... The view is marvelous! Who am I to argue with this beast?".
I wasn't sure what that military truck was going to used for.... Well for the largest vehicle recovered in the videos at Sand Hollow of course! Impressive! I think you might need one of those AG rated 30,000lbs capacity ropes for that truck.
The right tool for the job no doubt. Notice my crack at Yankum.....got to get a real rope on the old girl. I was just out joy rider for the Trail Hero event when they flagged me down. They had just been talking about how they need a 6x6 even though they had the Unimog. It only weighs about 11k.
Absolutely brilliant. I knew you would succeed when I saw Eric. That truck looked massive when you bought it, it didn't look so big next to the motorhome. It's also funny how people watching say it took a few tries, as if you were struggling 😎
Eric is a top notch hand. The truck is big and weighs about the same at the motorhome. I was not struggling much. The first few tries were intended to make sure our rigging was going to hold. We ended up using a 1 inch and 7/8 rope. Once a few small hits let me know it would hold and the receiver was not coming off the motorhome I backed up and two good hits she was home free.
the trick to big motor homes is to get a few 1" sheets of plywood cut into 4' wide strips stash them in the bottom of the bus somewhere a little digging and you can drive out of most stuck situations
If your winch works, turn front in and winch him out, it’ll save a lot of the yanking. You can always play out winch line and retrieve him more if needed.
Casey now that was pure entertainment for sure. I hope Becky got a good look how important that 10 wheeler is.
