It's amazing how crowded that whole area has become. Zion now gets more annual visitors than Yellowstone, or Yosemite, and the spillover of folks passing through to the rest of the region is unbelievable. You guys did an fantastic job getting those rigs in and out.
I'll slow it down for you. The truck and trailer couldn't get out on its own, "broken or not" that's stuck, so...........not one but two tracked vehicles were necessary to get it out of it's "stuck" situation. He wasn't getting out on his own. He was stuck. 2wd or 4wd, you're stuck If you can't get out under your own power.

when I used to go camping back in Europe) I had a small Mitsubishi Colt 2 door and a tiny Eriba Puck camping trailer. I would pull up to a camp site, push the trailer in place, set down the 4 corner supports, roll out the awning, pop up the roof extension for standing height inside the trailer, turn on the propane valve and get out the chairs and table. About 15 to 20 minutes and I was set up and ready to sit down and enjoy watching the others setting up their huge trailers for hours. After a few days I would pack up and move on to the next camp-site and hop from place to place because it was so easy to do with the small setup I had.
@@silentepsilon888 When my kids were little we all jumped in a mini-van, tied a canoe on top and headed to Yellowstone. We stayed in a campground for three days, canoed, fished, it was great. Across from us was a guy in this huge bus type motor home. I only saw him get out of it once a day, to walk around the outside of it and then get back in. Then one day he just left. Haha, what a waist.
@@silentepsilon888 Eriba Puck, now you're talking, mate of mine used to tow one of them behind a trike for motorcycle rallies. He couldn't manage a tent and the Puck was the perfect solution. Great little unit.
Tow straps over tow balls scare the crap out of me, I guess the good thing was it’s not a chain. Spent a lot of time in Glamis pulling out stuck rigs on big weekends but dang that sand there looks a lot softer. Great job.
Not your dozer, yet. I have a feeling we just may see a Casey Off Road Recovery dozer in the future. I had some cool Tonka toys and a big pile of sand as a kid, Casey is collecting the adult version of those and has an even bigger sandbox.
I notice Casey is more careful than others about standing between the tow vehicle and the trapped one. No matter how much you trust the driver, that’s a good practice.
Just a thought, wouldn't it help to unload some of the "toys" out of the toyhaulers and pull them out and then load the toys back up on solid ground? Have to take several thousands of pounds in some cases off the tow rig.
Awesome collection of equipment !!! You don't need a D6...you need a D9...with 49 tons of traction. Or load the Nodwell up with sand bags. Lots of free sand there...it seems.
Hey Casey's off road & Recovery!!, I'm sure glad you bought all those toys!!, oh!!, I mean tools!, heavy equipment!, Etc.!!, to get the job done!!!👍👍😮😮😮 😂😂😂
Spending a good portion of my life on the Oregon dunes with quads and my Rzr and 80% of the time we would drag the toy hauler out onto the dunes and camp on the sand with absolutely no problems because were smart enough to air down. it absolutely astonishes me how many idiots don’t realize you have to air your tires down!!!
Those are some really large heavy vans to be putting on the sand in the first place. Almost would have been better off with a hitch on Noddy and moving the trailers directly. Agreed I'd prefer to see a pintle or recovery hitch on the dozer.
Wow, that black truck and camper was like a boat anchor. You know it's a bad day when you have a bulldozer pulling you, and the Noddy pulling the bulldozer, just to get you moving. That seems like a really expensive camping trip 🤔🤨 Good job getting everyone out 👍👍
Seems that spinning up your wheels in soft sand whilst being towed just digs the whole rig in to the sand, looked like it was dragging the frame across the surface !
New rule: you must have tires twice as wide as you think on the trailer and truck, and 1/3 the air in them as you think you need. And no low profile tires.
This may be a stupid question and I admit I have very little experience with such soft, dry sand but would it help to air-down the trailer tires to give them a little better floatation? It works for the tow vehicles so why wouldn't it help to keep the trailers from digging in so much?
thanks for slowing down scroll on the end "credits" just a touch 👍👍 Out of curiosity, what's the ~5gallon buckets (spaced out all over the place) for? Trash? Parking markers?
I’m just wondering when you’re going to get the giant Yankum rope for the 5-ton and the Noddy. I saw a huge one in another channel and you were the first person I thought of. Keep up the awesome work! Good job Casey!
Another great video. While money is everything I hope the event or some of those guys chipped in for some gas money. I know having all of your rigs out there sucks up some fuel:)
Just wondering what it would have taken for the noddy to pull that second one out: it started spinning out, did it need more weight on back? the tracks look much bigger than the Cat's. more hp, more weight for traction, til you can get to those who knows what it's max potential is going to be! so far sure looks like a excellent fit for the area/jobs. Do you prefer using the noddy vs your Jeep, noddy's kind of slow coming out the gate doesn't look like your getting the same rope jerking/pulling effect
I prefer to be gentle and calculated in any Kinetic recovery. You don't need to be wreckless, but just the opposite. The ticket in Kinetic recovery is not to hit the end of the rope and just smash on the throttle. I like to get enough speed to take the kinetic energy out of the rope, just as you let off the fuel the energy transfers to the stuck vehicle or back to you. If it comes your way hit it again. They were never intended to be hit over and over and over till the vehicle was out. Some people use them that way. The nodwell can take the 30 percent stretch right out of a rope and is very calculated and gauged. Where even at max speed in 30 feet a 4000lb Cherokee will be hard pressed to take even 20 percent stretch out of the rope. 7/8 rope is a little bit big for a Cherokee. Being slow is just the ticket in safe recovery, kinetic or not. The Noddy weighs 11k and so it will only have so much pull. More weight on the tracks equals better traction and more pull. It was very interesting to see the D4 and the Noddy with similar pulling ability. It has gears galore so power even with the little engine doesn't seem to be a problem...on the flats....lol
Very interesting specific to know, important stuff to apply to the situation, task at hand, etc... maybe a quick fill water tank on back for extra traction, after all the lake is right there
Ok, here's a thought that comes to mind about the kinetic energy transfer out of the rope, how bout if you double up on the yank-um ropes, would it give out more kinetic energy? I know I know if your over it already, no need to reply, you're a very busy man only so much time to answer groupie questions(Lol)
@@cstrong9868 when you double the rope you almost double the force required to take the "stretch" out of the rope, increasing the stored kinetic energy. So in the motorhome recovery I did just that. I knew I was on the edge of the rating for the particular ropes. I could have easily broken things had I hit it with Gusto! I wanted enough to utilize the kinetic energy and then as the stuck vehicle gives, I applied forward momentum....clear as mud?
That place is a guaranteed business for a well equipped tow company. Great Job!👍👍
You got that right!
This is a planned "stuck" though. Many get dragged into their parking spaces, then dragged back out after the event.
When the dozer and the Nod were both hooked up, I started wondering about the strength of that Chevy’s front tow hoook
I was thinking the rope should have been doubled back to the hook on the other side to spread out the load.
Tow hooks probably won’t go anywhere. The rope would probably snap several times before those would fail.
He gets what he gets, putting silly wheels on a 2WD and driving it out in the sand with a camper lol
