Love, love, love it, bought it for £9 in House of Fraser few weeks ago, its like soapy almond vanilla, but not in a modern way, the drydown is the best.I feel like I need to stock up on this.
yes I can see what you mean but almondy vanilla - maybe more like a bar soap than a bubble bath!

I have it and love it. It smells like skin after a day of being at a pool with a spa. I know what you mean about the non gourmand vanilla smell. It king of stinks to me in the opening but the dry down is a very nice vanilla. The gourmands smell kind of play doh like to me. Good review, thanks!
In the 90s Joop Le bain and Joop Homme flooded offices and discos/clubs. A big cloud of Joop Homme surrounded me at the time. Sometimes I use Joop Le bain like a warm blanket today.
Yes I did think this one smelt like the 90s! 90s vanilla perfumes had a really specific vibe - not gourmand, very floral and perfumey but still rather sweet. My bestie wore Vanilla Fields and I'm still traumatised by that one (tbf it was strong AF back then!). I was more of a Wild Musk Gal myself! I wonder if I'd recognise Joop Homme if I smelt it today.... I remember Kouros and Linx Africa 🤣

There are so many modern pricey perfumes that smell a bit like 90s and 2000s classics! Le Bain wasn't a horror to me but I just can't deal with certain types of Vanilla!
As you're a perfumer, maybe you have an idea of what the chemical is that smells like Tar to me?! It's in so many modern perfumes and It drives me up the wall - guessing it's a certain type of synthetic musk but I'm not sure! I wish I had a name for it lol!
@@skinscentsforfusspots ambroxan is a synthetic musk that is horrible to my nose. When you mention tar, I’m wondering if it’s possibly a leather / suede note 🤔
And I’m fascinated by which vanillas you can’t deal with. Is there a specific example?
I don't know how to describe scent notes at all but I blind bought this one because I watched several videos with people raving about this one, years ago so I finally bought it and I don't get soapy or vanilla or none of that but I don't know what I get lol but I wish I wouldn't have bought this one. 😞
I think it’s pretty and cosy but the vanilla just doesn’t work for me…. I’m glad I managed to get a sample and didn’t blind buy it, but I think it might be one that’s easy to re-gift?!
I love the vintage vanilla and orange blossom smell in Le Bain, but I understand your point and of course the name of the perfume (bath, baño) has nothing to do with it. I find it very conforting and for personal enjoyment
if it was my kind of vanilla I might have liked it too! I recognise that it’s a comforting one, soft and sweet!
It smells like the inside of a sauna to me mixed with tobacco . I gifted mine to my sister who loves it
I love the idea of a sauna! if the vanilla was a bit lighter or more custardy I think I’d have been into it!

ooh thanks I didn’t know it was pronounced “bah”. I do actually know how to pronounce Joop and I forget that not just my long term subscribers might see this video 😅 I’ve reviewed All About Eve too and I did say that in the 90s everyone at my school pronounced it phonetically so I often slip back into that without even realising, although I know it’s actually yoop!
You can't go wrong with joop le bain. £5 for 75ml is ridiculous... I wear it to bed. 😊
