Skin Scents for Fusspots
United Kingdom
Приєднався 25 лис 2012
I love perfume, but I don't seem to like what's popular. I don't much like how expensive popular perfumes are either! It's taken me years to find scents I can wear all day and many of them are super affordable. If you want to smell good but not spend a fortune, you may enjoy my channel! I don't have affiliate links but there are some UK online shops that I buy from regularly and you can use the referral codes / links below if you wish - we will both get discounts!
www.allbeauty.com Code - CASSANDRA-R1DH
P’s I don’t respond to comments asking where you can buy perfumes but the answer is always “Google it” because that’s how I find all my perfumes. I also can’t respond to comments in languages other than English because I can’t read them and UA-cam Studio can't translate them! Xx

Hi! All perfumes I own were purchased with my own money. I don't get PR or freebies, so the most helpful thing you can do for me if you like my videos is to subscribe to my channel! :)
I don't add specific links to where I buy perfumes because prices and availability differ according to country, stock, time of year and retailer offers. As with allllll my perfumes, I’m a bargain hunter so I always search Google to find the best price and I always suggest that my viewers do the same, but if I find any good codes I'll put them in the "about" section on my channel ;)

Transitional Fragrances - Perfumes I'll be wearing in early Autumn / Fall (mostly affordable!)
I think you'd really like Al Awsaaf by Lattafa. It's not a dupe of anything. Came out in 2023 and is very underrated and barely talked about. I bought it for about $15 USD.
I love tocade. And also hate the bottle. My grandmother wore it for a while and the sweet ambery warmth invokes fond memories. Managed to collect two vintage bottles where the vanilin turned black from age and they are unmatched. The reformulation is pretty good but the vintage version is somehow warmer and more round. Lovely to see a perfume head that also likes to explore older fragrances.
Lovely ! I’ve unexpectedly been addicted to Patch by Andfragrance this latter autumn .. I hated it when I first got it and almost decluttered 😅
I can’t believe you can get 30 ml of Lord of Misrule for 25-30 Pounds. That’s incredible. It’s $55 here. With current conversion, it should be closer to $31.50 - $38. I know companies don’t change their prices constantly to keep up with conversion rates, but that’s a massive difference. Looks like I should be able to eventually justify a trip over there. 😂
Ah, one of my favorite categories! I’m excited for this video.
I recently tried Tocade and Casmir. Beautiful scent, but they definitely have that vintage vibe 🥰
They really do! Very much winter warmers for me (as with most vintage smelling scents!)
Hello 💓👋.. i actually want to get this perfume i like the packaging but im not sure .. can you give me suggestions
Karma karma karma ❤❤❤❤
That Skin musk I agree is one of the best fragrances ever made I feel it’s terribly underrated in the online fragrance community! So glad to see it getting some love. I’d be interested in a video where you talk about this and similar ones I know of wild musk by coty but I think the skin musk is just a richer better one!! Take care 😉
You can find the exact video you're after here ua-cam.com/video/GdHiTZkAxZ4/v-deo.html ;)
I have been debating on adding either Casmir or Tocade to my collection. Do I need them both? I'd welcome some opinions 😊
I think they're the same style of slightly vintage, powdery, ambery vanilla's but they're very different in terms of the actual scent!. Lemon & rose vs peach & ylang ylang basically - Very different fruits and florals! Casmir is more challenging I think but it needs time to sit and settle after you first spray it ;)
@skinscentsforfusspots Thank you so much for your input! Maybe I do need them both after all!
Yes your description of Tocade is spot on. It does remind me of Turkish delight. Its definitely similar to Casmir!
It really is!
You are SO good at comparing perfumes and describing those comparisons. I think that really sets your channel apart. I love watching your videos! ❤
Oh thank you so much! What a lovely comment!
Do the wicked ones last long on the body ? I keep getting perfumes that don’t last very long when I go out 😂
they're body sprays so not too strong or long lasting, but Elphaba lasted for at least 6 hours on my skin and I can still smell it on my scarf from about 2 weeks ago!
What a great review! Just what I was looking for. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
I can definitely relate. There are many scent notes post 2015 that smell like gasoline to me. I cannot handle ambroxan and Iso E Super at all.
It's such a shame! I hope the trends turn back to more naturals and less molecular scents!
Have you tried Aire de Sevilla "Le Sublime", that's supposed to be a La Belle Intense alternative from Spain. They also have a Cacharel Yes I am and a Mugler Angle Nova one. :)
Oh that's interesting - I've seen the brand on European sites but I've never tried them... I had no idea it was a dupe house! Maybe one day I'll give them a go!
I love it that the cheap one smells better than the expensive! Revenge of the poor 😂. My best friend wears Alive and I don't care for it. I share your sensitivity to the aromachemicals, maybe that's why I don't like it?...
Alive honestly smells so chemically so if you've got a sensitive nose that's probably why you don't like it! If you're ever tempted to try Lover in Dark, it would be amazing to get your friend to test it and see if she thinks it smells like Alive! Then we'd know if it really is what other people smell when they try Alice, or if it's just be a bad dupe! Or top put it another way, a much improved version of a not so good perfume, lol!
I am loving these videos. And a huge +, you insert pictures of the scents and keep them on screen for the time you're talking about them, and the notes pyramid for a bit, really all it takes. :) I would love to hear your thoughts on Omerta "Lilou", a 15 Euro dupe for Prada Candy. Because there aren't that many cheaper options for Candy other than the Korres one.
My experience with Omerta (I've got three Dior Poison Dupes that I've not got round to reviewing yet!) it that I'm not too keen on their perfumes. I've not tried Lilou but I decided not to buy more from that brand after the Poison dupes! Thanks for watching :)
I think I might have smelled this one back many years ago and wasn’t a fan. It smelled almost musty to me. I have to admit, I e been tempted to buy Majestic Woods as I’ve heard so many people say that’s it’s a sophisticated woody incense with touches of praline. I suspect you might dislike that one due to the Ambroxan listed. Glistening Amber was another one that tempted me, but I’m not so sure about the raspberry note.
I think that Juicy Couture just isn't the House for me! I can live with it because unlike Lancôme for instance, I hate how the bottles look! It hurts that I don't get on with Lancôme because I love how Idole, La Nuit Tresor and La Vie Est Belle Bottles look, but their DNA is head-splitting to me!
I really appreciate your reviews cause I also suffer from what you so accurately call a "chemical nightmare" 🤣🤣🤣 At least I don't feel so lonely in my suffering 😂😂😂
My sister in perfume suffering! I swear I'm bombarded with rank chemically perfumes everywhere I go nowadays!
@@skinscentsforfusspots Oh I so relate!
I have the vanilla cake bottle it’s so good smelling but lasts all of 3 minutes. Same with the orange cream pop very great nose but doesn’t last
I guess they're not really meant to last very long as they're colognes, but it can be frustrating!
I just spent $92 AU on a bottle of Chanel eu Tendre hair mist. All i smell is alcohol and chemicals ☹
what a shame! Chanel tend to be quite good in terms of not smelling to chemically to me, but I've never tested one of their hair mists
Sticky Dates left me with a strong Sandalwood and smoke residue. Gave me a headache and I sold mine on. Now that you say it is too strong maybe I should have used less. Love Golden Pear.
I took a decant of sticky dates and then sold the remainder of the bottle because it's so strong! I think it's much better when sprayed from a small atomiser, but it's definitely smoky and woody - I feel like the new Chelsea Morning from Lush could be an easier butterscotch sort of scent for anyone who is overwhelmed by sticky dates!
Great sample choices! I was not impressed by Eilish #3. Love the first 2 but 3 was so full of pepper and so little of what I wanted. I'm finding a lot of what I DO want and need in my life with your guidance through more of the vintage and less popular niche brands like Lalique. It's been a breath of fresh air through all the "popular" newness
I'm so glad my vids are helpful!
I bought No way to Say Goodbye in Amsterdam. Am so happy with it as so far it is not in Australia. I tried it initially in den Bosch LUSH and loved it, then I had to dash out to buy it on my last day in the large bottle. Plan to wear it daily. Love the colour of Hungarian Fronds. Spa would go with Hungary given their thermal baths.
Ooooh thermal baths sound lovely!
Have you tried finery’s not another cherry? It’s a good Tom ford dupe w rose
Sadly, Finery aren't available in the UK
you have such an interesting nose. I didn't care for the new Glossier perfumes either, You Rêve smelled like an expired lipstick to me
My nose has a right attitude lol!
It's interesting, I don't get green from Elphaba at all- I wish I did, because I love Christmas Tree scents. I love Glinda.
Oh Wow! I get a full green slap in the face when I first spray Elphaba! Proper Cedar trees
Cherry Baby - I smelled the body spray in store and was appalled at how synthetic it smelled. Cass, if you’re able to get your nose on Julianna’s Perfume, they have a nice dupe of Lost Cherry called Mon Cheri.
I don't mind a synthetic cherry note, so long as it's not cough-syrupy, but yeah.... None of the Sweet Tooth perfumes are very natural smelling lol! I don't think I can get Julianna's in the UK
Speaking of chemical nightmares, lipstick fever is the ultimate offender for me! I recently got a sample that I was expecting to be powdery and soft, and I found it so offensive 😣
I can't wear any Juliet has a Gun perfumes!
What is the oldest perfume you have? I have a rapidly growing collection of perfumes that I adore with very few failed purchases. I have lots of back-ups also. My concern is that they might go bad. I was the kind of person who had one or two perfumes at a time but now I have so many and I would love to enjoy them all for the longest time. Can you help with point please? Thanks
Oldest as in I've owned it the longest?! I've got a Les Belles de Ricci from the late 90s which is still great and I had some vintage perfumes that were also from early-mid 90s that were still wearable. You just need to keep them somewhere dark, cool and dry!
How long would a perfume oil stay good before going bad?
I've had some for around 5 years and they're still good!
Whaaat? Not one Mon Guerlain?! (Just kidding😂) Thanks for all the reviews, it's Burberry Brit weather, I agree!🍂🍐⛅
Haha Lol don't worry, I wore one of my MG's this week!
I want wicked sprays
La Rive one is from 2000 so earlier than Cacharel 2018...Who is duping who?Greetings😉 The same thing is with Libre YSL and Destinee La Rive😉
Ahhh well…. I suspect that Fragrantica have the wrong dates on some perfumes (I know some of the info on there is wrong actually!) and a lot of other sites take their information from Fragrantica so it’s all a bit merry! I remember Destinee bieng released and it was definitely after Libre! I’m pretty sure that La Rive is a famous dupe house and doesn’t make original scents :)
I'm off to try the Wicked bodysprays this week. 😊
@@dr.claire.perfume can't wait to find out how they smell to you!
Late but happy birthday😉💚
36:02 lol im an American and can confirm, Hershey's chocolate sucks
Agree. At one time about 50 years ago it was good but now I find it to be waxy.
@@blueberrywraith I was so confused the first time I tried Hershey's that I thought it must have gone off!
I'm on a sandalwood kick and I just might blind buy a bottle of Shade one day. I live in the US and I dont have a Lush store near me. I am very intrigued
@@blueberrywraith it's quite unique to my nose!
The regular body sprays are $46 here in Canada. I have to check if these body sprays will be priced higher because they are limited edition 🤔🤔 They sound lovely, thanks for sharing
They have it on the website and they're not priced higher, its 42 and they sell fast so get it soon. I missed the grape soda scent from Halloween sadly.
@@sabrinaandbenji1390 Okay thanks, will do
Edit, I don't see these wicked scents on the website. Sorry for the misunderstanding, I saw the preorder for a couple pre orders like sticky dates and another one. I wonder if these will be coming to canada😊
@@katechipata9934 I hope you get to smell them!
Oh no! I have a box of Sparkle sitting in my perfume room. I haven’t opened it yet. Not sure if it’s the intense 🤷♀️.
@@b25mech it might smell amazing to you! I double checked and there is only one version (if the internet is to be trusted!) Which is called intense :)
I felt the exact same way you did about Estée Lauder Dream Dusk. I didn’t like it at all. It just smelled off. I’ve smelled a few from this line and so far Desert Eden is my favorite, Turkish Rose, sandalwood and olibanum. It’s lovely. I want to get my hands on Sensuous Stars which has lavender, plum and orris I think which intrigues me. Loved your video as always! 😊
glad you like the videos! I think that Estée Lauder is one of those houses that uses the sort of aroma chemicals that give me headaches - I’ve never found one that works for me!
Interesting review. I love and admire your honesty :). The aroma chemicals, I have no idea what they are but I wonder if that is why I can't stand the expensive designer stuff likes of chanel, dior, I did have a sample of a perfume of narcissa or something fame, sprayed it in my room, and it made me feel quasy and gave me a headache and took hours for the smell to f off. It was revolting, I only payed a penny for the sample at superdrug but bleurgh same with Jimmy Choo's newest perfume.
@@suzannesanderson there are some perfumes in the last few years that are just soooo synthetic that I'm sure I'm not the only person who is sensitive to them! Designer perfumes by (for instance) Paco Rabanne, Valentino & D&G are just a disaster for me
I got a sample of this one recently and found it was just way too strong. I did test it on skin and only used a very small amount. It wasn’t *bad* per se, but too intense. I wouldn’t hate it on another person as long as they applied lightly and I didn’t have to stand next to them in a small small room for too long.
yeah it’s absolutely a beast! I love how it smells but this bottle is so strong now that I just can’t wear it!
isent this one discontinued
yes it is
This has been doing the rounds hasnt it? I rarely enjoy much that get hyped so I've stayed away 😂 happy to hear your take! 😊
I underestimated how many people like this perfume and I think I’ve pissed people off a bit! I suspect you would describe this as an Ambroxan bomb lol!
@skinscentsforfusspots well the same person hyped Still and Donna. And again neither worked for me because of ambroxan, so I suspect you are correct. 😉
@@dr.claire.perfume it’s funny that Still works for me, but admittedly only in warm weather or I find it too sharp - that’s probably Ambroxan! Tbh Ambroxan has been around since the 50s so it’s pro in tons of my perfumes but I seem to have a level where I just can’t deal with it. Man…. I’ve discovered some really interesting things since I started this channel, but I really should go to a perfumery class one day; try to identify the ingredients that I want to avoid 🤣
@skinscentsforfusspots the thing with ambroxan is that there are so many related chemicals, I clearly dislike one or some of them, but not all. It's just I don't know exactly which is which, so for me, there "good ambroxan" and "bad ambroxan" but of course, that really doesn't accurately cover it.
Could this be a fake? The cap looks like cheap plastic. My bottle's cap is heavy and has enamel spades. My bottle smells good. Nothing harsh.
It’s the real deal! Notino don’t sell fakes and the 40ml bottles don’t have the metal on the caps, but the bigger bottles do! I hope I was very clear in the video that some of the more modern and trendy aroma chemicals smell terrible to me, but most people don’t have any issues with them. You’re one of the lucky people who smell this the way the perfumer intended you too 😉
You speak Truth! The mass produced commercial perfumes are largely toxic chemicals. I am now sensetive to perfume from using a new release Paco Rabonne fragrance that was nothing but sweetened toxic chemicals. No different than bathroom cleaner on skin thet smelled sweet! Now i only wear clean fragrances and fragrances that minimum 50% natural. Some good brands are Korres, Lush, L'occitaine, Pacifica, One Seed, and & 7 Virtues.
yeah something in perfumery changed in the mode 2000s and now the chemicals aren’t smelling like the notes they’re impersonating. it’s explains why I’m much more into 80s, 90s and early 2000s perfumes!
Would you say Dossier’s clean’ish?
It’s very woody on me and I only get the black currants on my clothes. It’s not a love for me and it’s just ok.
it’s funny how modern aroma chemicals make perfumes smell so different to different people!
I’m not even sure what aroma chemicals are I guess. I thought all perfumes used at least SOME chemicals to cause aromas. But I guess I’m missing some details.
yes indeed almost all perfumes have aroma chemicals, ! They are often mixed with naturals too but things like Ambroxan have become fashionable and are used in much larger quantities nowadays, while naturals are used less. I’ve got like 300 perfumes that I love and only a handful, of those are mainly from natural compounds (hello lush and ånd fragrances!), but some companies use aroma chemicals that my nose just doesn’t recognise as perfume notes and the more I exposed to them, the worse they smell to me. Unfortunately for my nose and my channel, those are the trendy chemicals, so even the master perfumers use them. I’m in the minority of having a bad reaction to them! ‘Tis why my channel is has the word fusspots in it!
@@skinscentsforfusspots I think that helped me start wrapping my head around it. Would these aroma chemicals be something that gives a brand a “DNA”? Like Lataffa (Lattafa?) fragrances all smell different, yet there’s a base that has the same “something” in them. Or my Oil Perfumery oils. Are there aroma chemicals that are of a higher grade than others? Thank you for taking the time to help break-it down for me BTW!
