@@joeybright7831 Just so you could understand, we did get an apartment, i think it was just in the end that my parents lied that we got an apartment.
If you tell the truth, it might not always benefit in this life. For example in the bible good things do not always happen to good people ( also btw i know we are all tainted from sin) for example, Job.
And i am going through emotional sufferings today, but my faith will stay.

      Im having delimma here,
4 questions, and if its ok, can someone give a scripture answer for this.
If i told someone a filtered truth like
      Im going to somewhere
But i didnt told him that im going to a certain place that would make him angry.
      Question scenarios:
      1. If its just for him to not get angry, is it bad? ( im causing him not to sin and being angry)
2(another scenario not related to number 1) . I dont want him to know because he might get in trouble.
( im maybe he cant handle it but im not to sure)
      3. Another scenario , i cut the story short because im a hurry. And i dont wanna talk about it
      4. Because there is literally no time to explain because he is in a hurry
I know this might be similar questions but i hope somebody can say something to me ,thanks

Yes my mother who is no longer with us he used to say it doesn't hurt to tell a little white lie My grandmother used to have a saying don't tell the truth if the truth don't suit but I was always against that I feel great conviction even if I even think about wanting to tell a lie I just can't do it I feel conviction because I follow Christ and although I'm human and sometimes I fall short I always feel conviction and I always repent but I always tell the truth it's best to always tell the truth because you're going to have to stand before God and answer for everything one day that's always in the back of my mind I wouldn't give up my life now that I am saved since 2018 for anything I have seen myself grow the holy spirit is doing a good work in me molding me and shaping me more and more in the image of Christ everyday so much such a change a good change always best to tell the truth when you tell the truth you have nothing to worry about

What "lying tongue" is the Bible talking about?
Lev. 19:11-13 - The context is clearly on "one another" and "your neighbor", who Jesus clarifies in the story of the Good Samaritan. Our brethren and neighbors are God's children. Not Satan's seed of the world. Even all the way through verse 18 the Bible is clearly referencing these commandments to our neighbors.
Pro. 6:16-19 - Once again we see in verse 19 the Bible clarifies the "lying tongue" as "a false witness who speaks lies, and sows discord among brethren." You're removing context when you stop at verse 16.
Ex 20:16 - The 9th Commandment says, "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor." See the story of Ahab, Jezebel, and Naboth for an example. (1 Kings 21)
3 times the Bible specifies what lie is against God's commandments. We raise the bar to impossible levels for any man born of Adam to reach when we tell them they cannot lie at all. No one likes the person who is "brutally honest". What husband should be required to tell his wife she looks fat in that dress when he knows it will only cause her pain and possibly an argument?
If a thief asked you where you buried your gold and riches, are you obligated to tell him the truth? Do you really think that the midwives of the Israelite's were too slow to make it to the birth before the Israelite women delivered a male child? They lied to Pharaoh and God blessed the midwives with children and families of their own.
Did the Israelite's deceive the Hivites in Gen 34 when Dinah was raped and defiled? Did God Himself send a deceiving spirit upon both King Saul and King Ahab?
We must learn to discern the context by studying the Bible very carefully in its entirety. The decision to lie needs to remain as a personal choice by the individual and guided by the Holy Spirit to do what is good. Jesus gave this same lesson to the Pharisees when they were angry with Him for healing the man's withered hand in the Temple of God on the Sabbath.

What will happen if your landlord finds out you falsified ( lied) on your application. You could be evicted. Then will lie to cover up another lie? and another lie? What kind of an example are you setting for your children? Will you not say to your children " we are going to trust God to provide rather than lie and dishonor him"? You bring up some interesting points.
When it comes to people asking you personal information, you don’t have to lie, you simply tell them that it’s none of their business, and that they shouldn’t be asking you those questions.
And yes, it’s totally wrong for parents to lie to their children in the way you described - that’s just downright cruel. When it comes to things like Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the tooth fairy, small children can’t separate reality from fiction, and very tender souls have been significantly hurt when they find out that their parents lied to them about those things. They find it difficult to trust their parents after that, because if they lied about that, what else are they going to lie about? And it’s especially damaging when these same parents tell their children about Jesus, because If they lied about the other three, why wouldn’t they be lying about Jesus?
I would have to consider cases where people have lied to protect others. For instance, Rahab lied to protect Joshua and Caleb. Corrie Ten Boom lied to protect the Jewish people they were hiding. And many other cases where people have lied to protect their loved ones from certain harm. Just something to think about.

      - Easy. Just say "I don't want to tell you." and smile.
      - Please don't do this to your children. Better to discipline them by telling them consequences like "I will not give your favorite food if you don't do this/that"
      - Haha you think too much. What if the person you're trying to protect was the killer? After all it has been said that we as Christians don't have to worry for the Holy Spirit will give us the saying.
Matthew 10:19-20 " But when they hand you over, do not worry about how or what you are to say; for it will be given you in that hour what you are to say.
" For it is not you who speak, but it is the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.

@@shawnmartin6201 Hi Shawn! You’re welcome, and thank you for your kind words.😊 The last point I made, was that sometimes people have to lie to protect others from imminent danger, such as was the case with Caleb and Joshua. Corrie Ten Boom, and others like her, helped Jews escape from certain death by hiding them in their homes. When people came to search the houses, there was the appearance of only that family living there, while the Jewish people were hiding in rooms that couldn’t be easily detected. That in itself is a form of deception, or lying by omission, which is concealing the truth by giving the appearance of another reality. That might be a stretch for some, but it makes sense to me. Honestly, it boils down to your conscience when it comes to these gray areas. Always follow your conscience, and what the Lord is leading you to do.

Yes she lied. But did she lie to the Lord or to the Lord's enemy that day? And what was the justification for it? Was it her faith or her wickedness or the Lord Himself?
How about when Jesus said multiple times "your faith has saved you"?
Hebrews 11:31 By faith Rahab the harlot did not perish along with those who were disobedient, after she had welcomed the spies in peace.
Now, consider this whenever you want to lie: Do you lie to the Lord or to His enemy? Do you lie for your own advantage while others get hurt? Do you lie because of your faith (I think this is foolishness for the truth has been established by the Son Of God)?
Stick to the truth always, and everything will be fine. Remember in the end this world is not our home. God bless you.

All I did was to suggest that Rahab's lie be discussed in light of the fact that Scripture praises her for the lie she told. I don't think that implies anything like we are our sins. Your comment sounds a little like the misleading assertion that we are to hate the sin but love the sinner, as if the sin really has nothing to do with the person sinning. But Jesus died for the sinner and the sins they committed.

@@psa110 My comment had nothing to do with "love the sinner, hate the sin." But when someone asks something like "what about Rahab's lies?" it reads as though the only thing that defines Rahab IS that lie. That is not true. She lied, and it worked for the Israelites. Her aliance with the Israelites even landed her in the geniology of Christ. But suggesting that Rahab's lie be addressed, seems as though it's looking for justification. It was one action by a prostitute. If my Bible is correct, I'm sure she will have to give an account of the lie, before the Judgement seat, as will everyone else. I just don't think addressing it has anything to do with what God commands of us.

@robynpayne9448 As mistaken as you say I am about your comment you are about mine. The OP is intended to address white lies and whether they are morally acceptable or not. I brought up Rahab because she is praised for deceiving. I think that we must take that event and the praise for what she did as something that needs to be factored into the discussion. Did she act ethically or not? That pertains to the OP's question. Her action appears to be being justified. Especially since it is cited as an act of faith. It seems quite germane to the discussion.
