@@FourSpeedFilms your welcome! I really want to own a first generation mustang and your channel is inspiring me to save up and look for a classic mustang!
I have that exact clutch in my 68 with a 428 shoved in her. Alleviated all of the clutch linkage issues by going to a hydraulic clutch. Absolutely love it.
Great to see a spacer plate that covers the front of the bell housing. I rock or something flying up in there could definitely blow the clutch up. My 66 is missing the plate all together
Reminds me of my younger days. My first car was a '65 Mustang GT, I bought in 1973 for $500. I drove it through high school, starting going to a local community college where I rebuilt the motor in it and installed a Melling camshaft. The next year I was involved in a wreck with an 18 wheeler, and totalled the car. Bought a '67 Mustang with a 6 and a three speed, rounded up the parts I needed and swapped in the 289. Wish I still owned either of those cars today. But fast forward and when I retired, I bought a restored '73 Mach 1. So we go to cruise ins and car shows. Still have that Mustang fever!
That's pretty cool not only are you getting some good sponsors you getting help and teaching from a knowledgable man and you spent some time with your Dad that's more than cool 👍👍

Thank You Ben. Thank You Gary for your efforts. This vid was super fun. Thanks Dad for cleaning parts. I too don't care if no one really gonna see it, IT GETS CLEANED! Ben when it comes time, consider a Late Model Permanent Magnet Starter. I did this with my 351 Cleveland. Works good, it's smaller and saved some weight. Wow our cars are so similar. I have a 1965 mustang with a 347 stroker mated to a t-10 transmission. They’re in about the same condition as well 😂. Love watching these videos because I’m going through the same stuff with my car. Keep it up!
Remflex gaskets are incredible. I've used collector gaskets like this, and various others. The best thing is you are never supposed to have to tighten them. Great video! I hope you like the new clutch.
man, this brings back memories when i was in my early 20s and i had major corporations not only give me free parts but also actually install the parts in their garage while i watched. seems like yesterday. well, at least the interview videos are entertaining.
Well done, Ben - your channel is really taking off now! I fitted a Hurst shifter on my '67 Fastback and wished I hadn't bothered - the original Ford 4 speed shifter was much better. As for the steering, I fitted an EZ-Steer electric system - it's a bit wild on the understeer, but an absolute breeze when it comes to parking the old beast! Keep up the great work and let's see more of your canyon buddies blasting their old V8s out there!!
i have one of these scatter shields sitting on the floor waiting to go into my '70 Mach. guess i better get off my butt and get busy. looking forward to some power shifting...
If you're wondering about Borgeson power steering, I put their box in my 66' mustang and it was the most difficult install I have ever done. I love working on my car (I've swapped my trans, clutch, flywheel, rear end, front and rear suspension, and installed Sniper EFI) but I would never do another Borgeson box. Every part, including their z-bar needed to be modified, and it almost reduced me to tears😂. If you choose to go that route, buy tri-y headers.
Ben get a starter for a 1993 mustang with a 5.0. There a factory mini starter. You'll have to change the wires on the solenoid but otherwise it's a bolt on deal. Good video.
You have such a cool car buddy. Do yourself a favor and look into electric power assist steering. Gary is an unbelievably awesome friend to have you're lucky dude. Also shout out to your dad. He's a great help and a great teacher love your channel. I hope to see it keep growing.
Well done as always!!!! A few notes......... 1. You run a 66 dash.....did you change or was it like that? 2. First Gen Mustang clutch linkage is a mystery to all. So many different ways FORD did it. 3. I see model cars on the shelf behind you in the open. I started building models growing up in So Cal in the 1960's and have a collection of about 5K now and work in the biz freelance. 4, You were pretty close to my buddy of 60 years.....he's in Buena Park. Thanks!!!
Borgeson makes a good power steering conversion kit I used it on my 66 mustang and it only took a few hours. It gets rid of the junk ford piston style power steering and adds a Chevy style box. You have to remove your steering column and trim it but that is in the instructions and a bunch of UA-cam videos cover it. I haven’t had any issues with it in well over two years. It’s a lot cheaper and easier than a mustang II rack 😂
@@FourSpeedFilms nah my headers were fine I have a 87 5.0 block with long tubes and it was all good. The 289 should be about the same but I’d check out some videos to see there’s plenty of them. Just incase for some reason my headers arent the same as yours. But it’s basically a replacement steering box. It uses existing hardware on the manual steering and basically makes it a power box. Which is super helpful it’s a big difference. It doesn’t feel sloppy but it’s going to definitely be a lot “looser” than manual steering because of the power boost 😂. The worst part is really reinstalling the box because the headers are there but other than that it wasn’t too bad I had it done in an afternoon. But I would def do this over a factory power steering unit as those stabilizer type steering units are known for going bad constantly.

When I did some research it looks like it isn’t that important with old transmissions. They have a higher tolerance from being misaligned. However, modern transmissions have a very small tolerance for misalignment. We also didn’t have any extra dowel pins This is where I found the info: www.holley.com/blog/post/how_to_align_your_bellhousing_for_maximum_transmission_and_clutch_life/
I'd like to see the before and after driving difference of an aftermarket upper A-Arm with some built in positive caster. Most from the aftermarket arms have 3 degrees positive caster, stock is around zero. Of course you want power steering before you make that mod.
Love your videos, what type of power steering are you going for? Im thinking of adding it aswell on my 67. Im leaning more towards the borgeson unit rather than a rack and pinion set-up.
Those Centerforce pressure plates are a gimmick. A friend of mine with a 69 Camaro was shifting gears and the 4 speed locked up into a gear which I don’t remember which.
