Love both cars
Golf R the best option
Mk8 GTI wins, no question!
Just added the flush mount kit to my wheels and tires. 14mm spacer in the rear, 11mm in the front with the longer lug bolts. Looks perfect now!
That’s great man ! That’s what we’ve got on my wife’s mk8 and definitely helped fill out the extra space !
Dude, I don't want to brake your little bubble here but every videos here on you tube between a GTI stage 3 and the GLI stage 3 the GLI won them all...Let that sink in.
@@Quadruple-Vaxxed-Boomer those are extremes, though. .Plus, the Jetta is running the Gen 3 EA888, which has way more aftermarket support than the Gen4, which has been out for 2 years in North America. Here in Canada, the GLI wins for price point. A fully loaded GLI is 10k cheaper than a fully loaded GTI. So the comparison is between a base GTI with manual vs a GLI with all the options, including the electronic dampers and 7spd dsg, heated & cooled leather front seats, heated rear seats and a host of other stuff.
With the money difference, you can tune, lower, tint, put stiffer sway bars, and get better summer tires-and have money left over for a nice ice cream and an extended warrant.
Excellent comparision video, I'm actually looking at both cars right now. Another factor if buying new is that the GLI is cheaper. The GLI 40th is around 31K while the cheapest GTI is 34K and most on dealer lots are around 40K!
That’s ridiculous that they still have markup most of the dealers around here have calmed down and realized that people aren’t willing to pay the markup any more . That was the biggest reason I didn’t get an r was the 15k plus markup on those .
19 GLI autobahn for me from a 2016 mk6.5 tomorrow, I definitely prefer the sedans over the hatch being 6'4. love both but the GTI is typically more don't know why exactly
the GLI definitely not more 'lighter', 'nimble' and, 'quicker' than the GTI lmaooo
The Autobahn GLI excel when it comes to entering highways and on the roll.
i meannnnn the wheelbase is longer and they weigh 200+ pounds more. every thread i’ve read comparing the two, they’ve said the gti handles better. have you driven both?
@@RH-ni8xp The GLI is better on the highway, period. Longer train, that's how it is.
I have the same GTI. I have CTS Turbo flush kit/springs. Turbo muffler delete, APR open air intake, ECS turbo inlet pipe. Clear front bumper side markers, Aerofabb triangle window fillers for the mini front windows on the way and gloss black rear bumper reflectors. CTS turbo short shifter, BFI red shifter knob. I also have a rear How’s My Driving 1800 Kiss My Ass plate frame +10hp. I’m looking into 034 Stage 1+ tune. These cars are definitely fun the Garret Turbo definitely gets up and go even in stock form.
Hey all im not smart wit cars. I have a 2022 q3 but gas is too much in CA. So i got a vw taos 2024. I am in the process of wanting to buy a gti, gli, golf r MAYBE. Or tiguan/ atlas. My question is should i just go for the speed stock? Or if i get an atlas / tiguan can i mod it to get more speed ? MPG wont matter much since the taos is my daily. OR do i just save and get a better car? I really prefer vw because my luck has proven very well with them. I drive to Az' nevada and may go further from california . Thanks in advance!
Hey new subscriber here. I own a 40th anniversary, and I’m also new to gtis. So far loving your videos I have a lot to learn. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for subscribing! And welcome to the GTI family I’m glad to hear you’re loving it is it a manual or a DSG?
@@octane_media it is a manual
GTI is faster/ more sporty which is much more fun to drive. GLI is more family oriented/more spacious at the compromise of maneuverability. If you wanna have fun get a GTI.
What about the MK7.5 GLI 40th Vs MK8 GTI 40th comparison?
If I can get my hands on one I’d love to !
The Autobahn 2023 remains the top dog.
I have a 40th blue GLI and I love
It. First Manuel car and so forgiving to learn on.
@@drewQ8 You're right, the manual is new comer friendly. You made a great choice, it's a very fun car to drive.
@@Quadruple-Vaxxed-Boomer but 2024 got heated steering wheel
Thanks
GTI wins but not for the price difference...
Boring review.... almost fell asleep fr
Should’ve tried harder maybe you would’ve fallen asleep
What a stupid comment 😒
Lost me at Porsche tattoo.
