Dear Daniel, I wanna thank you for all your videos on transitions lenses. I have watched many of them (repeatedly!) since last year. You have no idea how much you 've helped me so far. Actually because of this video I have already ordered the blue sapphire lenses in an aviator (Ray-Ban-like) black frame and I am looking forward to them. I love this very dark blue color, it looks kind of masculine and elegant. Thanks again Daniel, keep on doing all the good work. I definitely will keep watching your videos! Take care
Thank you for this nice review! Needless to say I have been MIA for a while on this channel. In case you have not yet found me I just wanted to let you know that most of my content is now appearing on the Hicks Brunson Eyewear channel.
Thank you for this super helpful video. It’s very cool to see the lab as well. I used to have Transitions before but didn’t know they come with different colors. Sapphire looks awesome!
I’m glad you enjoyed the video. I would highly recommend you try transition lenses again. The technology has improved a lot just in the last few years.
Awesome video on Transitions Gen 8 Sapphire Style Colors 🙌 I really like your Face a Face frame and enjoyed watching the edging process. Keep up the great work!
Thank you! I believe we are in the golden age of photochromic lenses right now. We have colorful frames trending, and colorful Transitions lens options to go with them. Win-win!
Thank you for the in-depth review! I just ordered the sapphire to go with a CK frame that fades from dark blue to light pink. I didn’t want the lenses too bright blue, though, so glad to see what they will look like ahead of time.
@@socalpimp1974 Yeah, it’s a deep blue greyish color, but blue and purple are so near each other on the color spectrum that I know some see purple in the blue.
I ordered the sapphire Transitions lenses. I run 🏃♂️ regularly and I found your video very informative as to the lenses reaction to UV light. Thanks Daniel.
Hello there , I just received my new transitions prescription and I got amethyst color Gen 8 . My next ones I cannot wait to get is the emerald but I LOVE TRANSITIONS ❤️
Wow, these color transitions have been around for a while. But I just ordered some and wanted to see what they look like.iv never worn transitions before.ironic, considering I have super low light vision and the sun physically hurts.😅 They are sapphire too.
I just ordered my first pair of transition lenses in my new frames with Sapphire Transition lenses. I was a bit worried everything would look blue, but I like that you said the colors look true so I’m excited to see what they’re like when they get here.
@@baseball12ification I really like them, but I don’t think they’re a perfect replacement for sunglasses. They are better than not having sunglasses, but they don’t feel like they block out as much as regular ones do. Also, the tint in my car prevents them from transitioning so on really sunny days I’ll wear regular sunglasses. That being said, I love them. I think they’re great at what they do and they transition insanely quickly to dark. Then they go back to mostly clear very quick, but the last little bit takes a second. They are extremely impressive technology. I really love them.
i ordered a pair of titanium (japan edition) rayban prescription eyeglasses with this sapphire transition color.. about $726.. most i've ever purchased for glasses but i know the quality will look and feel incredible. thanks for this helpful video. i wanted the amethyst originally but these are a better blend of blue/grey/purple
It seems like they got darker under the UV light than they did outside. I literally just got my first pair of transition Gen 8 in Amber. I wish they got darker outside 😢 nice video. Cool seeing how the lens is cut. ✌🏽✌🏽
I just ordered the blue transitions in a SPY frame. Thanks for the video. I was honestly expecting more of a blue hue but it still does look pretty cool!
I'm glad it helped. Look at the blue sky with and without it. It will make it look more blue. If you have a grey lens then you can compare the two, and you will see the difference.
@@seeingclearly the lab ended up calling me saying that blue wasn't an option with my SPY frames so I went with yellow. They are due to be here this week all the way from Syria !
I appreciate the video! It is cool seeing the sapphire since there aren't a lot of videos on it. Getting new glasses next week so I plan on getting the sapphire. Haven't really seen the other colors in-depth but I think i like the sapphire best since I tend to wear darker clothes and feel like it matches best.
Glad I could help! I plan to eventually release more videos on the other colors and some of the Style Mirrors as well. I hope you enjoy your new glasses!
I purchased the Face a Face yellow frames because of this video. Thanks for introducing me to this great line! I tried the sapphire transitions but they are not as blue as I thought they would be. I find that they darken to more of a grey color.
I didn't know that all Transitions lenses use a base dark color such as grey and brown to make the Gen 8 lenses darker for all you folks. I personally feel you should produce what you advertise. Bases were not added in the original lenses and were advertised as such. The original Gen 8 lenses were colorful and changed to the dark color that were chosen. You could coordinate the colors with any colorful frame. Now they are Black, with no color. Why advertise and choose the different colors when you could've chose black lenses in the beginning. There's no new colors, just dark grey and dark brown. FALSE ADVERTISING!!
Thanks for the detailed video. I was wondering if the style colours had any impact at all esp. if you have a get a lens like the Varilux X? Else why is it in a separate category rather than it just being another colour that’s offered like the grey/brown/greens of the world. Also, the frames look cool - would’ve been nice to get a closeup though when you were trying on the different ones. 😊
They put them in a separate category to differentiate that they are new colors designed to add style to your eyewear as opposed to the classic grey and brown colors that are more geared to towards function. Thanks for the feedback. I'll be sure to show more close ups on this channel. I think I have done a better job at that over on the Hicks Brunson Eyewear channel here: ua-cam.com/users/HicksBrunsonEyewearTulsafeatured
Wonderful video! Thank you! 2 questions: What are the frames you are wearing while you measure and cut the lens, and, can your lab reproduce a lens from an old pair that I have? They are a wire top rim Gucci with a simple SV prescription.

Very great review! Do the 8th Genaration have variable polarization? I noticed when you held them on your hand against the pond, the glare had gone away.
Thank you! Signature Gen 8 does not have variable polarization, although as you noticed they are still quite effective at controlling light. I’ve found them to be quite satisfying even without polarization in most environments. As of now the only Transitions product with variable polarization is Transitions Vantage. A future product release of Transitions XTRActive will have variable polarization that was originally planned for late 2020, but with the pandemic I’m not sure when that release will happen.

Great question Mark! I've never done a comparison test until now. I just took both colors outside and did a side by side comparison of both Grey and Sapphire. I can now conclusively say that the Sapphire color does render the blue sky more blue than the grey, and I will add that it is a pleasant blue shade at that.
@@MarkArellano I agree that the grey is darker. The two colors appear to be quite similar in darkness, but when I compare the two side by side looking through the lenses, I observe the bright white color of clouds to be less bright while looking through the grey vs the Sapphire.
Thank you! I think they feel very similar looking through them. Back to back quick comparisons will reveal that the amethyst color does shift colors ever so slightly towards a purple tone compared to the grey which does not.
I have the amethyst one and in the sunlight you can see the violet color. Indoor you can see too before it get clear, but it's a bit more visible outdoor. They are different.

It generally take just short of 5 minutes to turn completely clear. The fade back time will vary depending on temperature and how dark the lenses got outdoors. It’s also important to understand that you will hardly be aware that this is happening, because it happens gradually as your eyes are adjusting.
It's false advertisement. It's true that they don't change to the color that you choose. They add a base grey or brown to make the lenses go darker which changes the actual color you choose. Nothing to do with any UV or climate you reside in. You pick your color to match your frame and you get a different color. The outer surface is not the same as the inside.
You are wrong @Rain. I have Sapphire Blue and the Ametyst, and the added base grey makes the lens so dark that it isn't a Sapphire or Amethyst color. Style Colors are to match the frames, not to be a total dark sunglass. The original and advertised colors have shown that fact. Research some more @Rain before you comment. @@Rain-oq7vh

The blue color or any color will be less noticeable the darker the lens becomes. If you look at the lens against a white paper background when it is only partially darkened to say only about 30 to 50% darkness, you will see the Sapphire blue much more clearly.
As with all tinted colors on lenses or anywhere, the blue becomes less visible the darker they get and more visible the lighter they get. So the blue color will show more at the mid-tint point than at the darker point. It will also be more easily seen when held against a white background.
