      Go to an impossible planet to find with just his daughter to live with nobody else there, and with uncharted plants and lifeforms.
      What if he was killed by some creature? Got poisoned? Fatally injured? Old age? He'd leave his daughter alone to live a long life of going insane until the universe grants her mercy by killing her.

      yeah i was wondering if i was the only one who was super confused by bode. don’t get me wrong, i like his character, but his motives make literally zero sense. imo it was lazy writing with how far they used him being a father to justify his actions, even when i take into considering that bode was a jedi and never meant to have experienced having his own family and the intense emotions that come with that. him wanting to revenge against inquisitors makes more sense, not hindering and killing the people literally fighting the ones who took his 2nd chance at life away.
      this isn’t even mentioning that he could have chilled on tanalorr the entire time, he did not need to do any of this. it was his exit ticket out of ISB

      @@nofacedgoldfish6216 i mean at the same time you gotta remember bode thought it was a habitable place,with necessary materials,since dagan gera and Sintari kree were there,and a good amount of the jedi order.
      yeah hed have to be careful,but hes probably got some star wars analyzer on his ship,since we see half the characters in star wars eating god knows what and being fine,they probably have some way to test. and yeah his idea was flawed,but not for that reason,he had a good reason for not wanting to,since he wanted to go with cal and his group(merrin,cere,greez,bd),but you can see him switch his thinking when cal mentions building an army/taking the hidden path(jedi,and people that want to fight the empire) to tanalor too(their convo after killing dagan,you see it in bodes face as cal tells him he wants to make a fighting force on tanalorr) ,which would end up eventually showing the empire where tanalorr is. How you ask? because to recruit and get resources they need,theyd have to make constant trips out,same with making guerilla attacks,which would eventually get either an imperial spy through one of the ships,or even worse theyd plant a tracker,and eventually make a compass themselves. (once again,bode was way too extremist,and tbh at the end was kinda drunk on the dark side which we know makes you think not clearly,so yeah he kinda went balls to the walls)

      He did truly care for Cal, though, and wanted to find another way. He was on board with going there with the Mantis crew, but just wouldn't let the Path come with them as it brought too much risk. In the Saber Force Echo, he decides he will give Cal "one last chance", and their conversation on Jedha where Bode proposes going to Tanalorr before bringing the Hidden Path was clearly part of that.

    I thought he was truly with us, but he did say something that was very sus and had me in my head like "I bet he betrays us."
    In the cutscene right after you bring the compass to Cordova, when everyone is on the little cliff balcony celebrating, Bode and Cal have a minute alone. During that, Bode tries convincing Cal to go to Tannalorr without the Hidden Ones first, to "make sure its safe". When Cal declines, Bode shows visible disappointment and lets out a sigh. • @CoffeeMatt10
    @CoffeeMatt10 Рік тому +113

    The betrayal wasn’t the thing that shocked me - new character, could have questionable motives - it’s the confrontation after the speeder chase when Bode force pushes Cal, revealing he is a former Jedi. He hadn’t fallen to the dark side, he just made a deal with the devil to keep his daughter safe… understandable, he’s a father who has lost his wife and would do anything to protect his child. The timing of the backstab though…
    Cal has presented a way out for Bode, a safe haven for him, his daughter, and many others. His betrayal at that point is so misplaced that when that reveal of him being a former Jedi happens, that’s the part that shocked me. Like “wait, this guy is a force user? Wtf? Why is he doing this now?”

    I was left speechless after his betrayal. Here I was thinking, it’s actually going to be okay! No cliche sudden attack from the empire, no character deaths, this game would actually have a good, peaceful and happy ending! I wanted to believe it so bad, when the betrayal happened, I felt like Cal, hurt and just wanting to know “why”? We were so close to a happy ending, and he threw it all away.
    I literally had to just sit down and listen to the silence after the whole event. It hurt even more when I would see the red background on the menu, reminding me constantly of the harsh betrayal. I didn’t expect the game to hit me as hard as it did.

    I think Bode’s insane plan makes sense once you put it into the context of his fall. He wasn’t angry at the Empire, he was terrified of it and terrified of his daughter becoming another one of it’s victims, he was running as fast as he could and he was desperate to escape, no matter the cost. Plus he had a working compass, he could leave and come back anytime if he needed to get supplies. I also think that his murder of Master Cordova and calling out the Hidden Path was a way of appeasing the Empire before his escape, I’m not saying he was right, or that I have any sympathy for him after Jedha, but I am saying that the Dark Side is a terrible thing that makes people commit atrocities that they never would have done before. Another reason I hate him is because he constantly tries to excuse his actions as being a caring father, I understand that a good father will do anything for their kid, but went way too far, there’s a point when it stops being caring and starts being selfish and he went way past that point

    • @mattboy5296
      @mattboy5296 Рік тому +2

      I think the fact that he nearly gets Kata hurt or killed by accident during his rampage in the final battle shows that his obsession was the one putting his daughter most at risk at moment. Not to mention that she seemed uncomfortable being there in the first place when Cal and Merrin show up. At this point Bode wasn't really thinking really about his daughter anymore, but about himself and how *he* would feel if he lost her after losing another close family member in his wife. And that situation sounds awfully familiar, doesn't it?
      "When you *could* have saved her, when you could have gone *away* with her, when you could have been thinking about *her* , you were thinking about *yourself* ."

      Ngl, this is the exact scenario in why the ORDER was so crazy about no connections. His fear and obsession led him astray.
      While Cal was able to forge connections that were healthy and he was able to let Cere go, and even be willing to give Bode a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th chance.
      Cal is doing attachment correctly Bode is doing so incorrectly.

      The game agrees with you. Kata is pretty depressed and lonely when you meet her on Tanalorr. And that was after only a couple days.
      Funny thing about Jedi and family is they allow you to have one for cultural reasons: Ki Adi Mundi had one and he sat on the Council. They forbid strong attachment because it's a gateway to fear and control, like Bode or Anakin. Obi Wan had several people he loved, but he was able to let them go and make peace with their loss instead of fearing it
