    It's kind of interesting how the supposed problem with gems is "Oh but other classes require fewer gems, so it's not fair to my class" rather than "Gems should work in a total different way or should be way easier to obtain considering it's a really old system they are just trying to shove into our faces again". I'm actually bewildered.

      if they do this it will just raise the floor price of lvl 10s and the demand, which will be be insane for them for the first months and up to a year will not let it come down, people will most likely invest on few level 10 to use as dmg and settle with lvl 9 or 8 cd gems, since it would be extremely gold inefficient to buy a lvl 10 to use it as cd.

    would be cool, i mean strength is always decided on balance really. Its fun to be strong cause you have 1 level 10 gem faster but at the end of day buff and nerfs is what make or break a class.

    What would make sense is.
    1: Make gems interchangeable for a specific class, like event gems but also to change between damage and cooldown.
    2: Make it cost quite alot of silver to change gems to another class, so that players cant abuse the free exchange by having 11 gems for all their characters.
    3: Make classes that need one or few gems to reach their sealing weaker. The fact that Surge DB will probably wipe the floor with everyone else after T4 is quite rediculous.

    honestly this is less of a problem than the difference ppl get from playing only 1 class, in my static we have 2 ppl who play only 1 class and they had full 10s for a long while, while i cant afford 8s on my 5th and 6th char, just make gems in general rosterwide, put them in a rosterwide storage and then pick skills on every class of yours, that means u take 7 dmg 7 CD gems and are done for the entire roster, that would also lower the cost of dmg gems compared to CD cause most ppl will have at least 1 class that needs a lot of CD gems and classes that need 7 dmg gems are a bit rarer than classes that need 7 CD gems since all sups do and a lot of spec DPS classes also have 4 skills or less for main dmg so yeah that would fix multiple issues at once
    and for ppl saying it would cost SG money, i disagree, i think it would rather give ppl a reason to spend money to get full 10s, if you can spend 100 or 200€/$ to get full 10s on your entire roster most ppl would do it, it would less be 1-2% of players gigawhaling and rather a big percentage of the playerbase spending a little money which is more total income

    A month ago, I also wondered why Summoner doesn't have a "summon skills" gem
    for Pauru, Elcid, Maririn, Shurdi and Kelsion
    perhaps they needed to make sure that in t4 all classes used only 2 gems

      no bro, is completly balanced that Some classes need only 1 Dmg Gem and 1 CD gem and others need atleast 5 lvl 10 gems to do the same dmg. (*may contain sarcasm)

    As a surge player myself, I agree with that, it doesn’t make sense having GS who needs every single DMG gem on all weapons compared to me just needing the surge one

    If you're a breaker / surge and you are asking about benefits of other classes being better off, just remember all those times you couldn't get into a lobby because it already had 2 breakers / 2 db because everyone made only the meta class characters.

    I'm a Support Main, but my first Char and now only DPS is a 1620 Gunslinger.
    It's always been hard and now with full LvL 9 Gems it's at least ok to say I'm not useless, but Tier 4 will hit hard especially, when you need DMG Gems on Sups too. Building up Tier 9 Gems for an Alt Gunslinger will be out of budget.
    Ofc you could just stay at lvl 7 Gems without loosing dmg, but you will fall behind way too much.

    i remember being called crazy for saying that burst dps condensed class are op in lost ark for the way the game work and what is all about... pushing dps to skip things..
    and they also added a random item... atropine.. to a make it even worse. anyway i hope you guys get the gems change.. for me is too little to late not playing t4/lost ark

    I mean they said they want to be able to allow us to swap between builds and not be affected so much with class balancing. Atleast the first point about being able to switch dmg to CD just makes sense. Even if you have to do something like it make it roster bound when doing so. But if you fuse up it becomes unbound again. So it would only truly bind lvl 10 T4 gems. Which you then have the choice to keep it as it so you can liquidate or bind them so you can swap between dmg and CD and even swap skills as needed.

      No idea why they bothered even saying that they'd allow us to swap between builds. There's some classes that just have two weak engravings (GS, Zerker, SH) and others with two OP engravings (Breaker, DB, SE). It doesn't help with class balance.

    I agree. Needs to be balanced to make it more cost effective to deal with. Since the costs are going to increaase dramatically with T4. At the current rate a T4 lvl 10 gem is going to be 220k - 250k x 9. Which is absurd. Being able to have a choice of what you get could fundamentally change the entire gem system which could help alot

    I agree but only to a certain extent. 100% they should do something with the gems because for classes with a wide spread of dmg will take a while to get fully built compared to 1 or 2 gem classes. but that is the trade off of it right? aside from Surge and Sura most 1 or 2 gem classes do middle of the pack or lower dmg compared to the other classes that need more than 1 or 2 gem. So yes they might feel a bit strong at first but later on they will just fall back down to status quo. Also at the same point i feel like there needs to be bonus damage for the transformation classes. I know that they are 2 gem classes but depending on how much damage t4 gems give the transformation classes will probably does barely upright fighter damage which can lead to serious gatekeeping problems.

    I'd like to see them increase the rate we aquire them also, we still get lvl 1 gems from the highest chaos dungeons, swap them for level 3's or higher. I only have 2 lvl 10 gems and i've been playing this game since it launched in NA, the rest of the char's I play have lvl 7's or event gems. The only players who have all lvl 10's in NA are all RMTers, whales, or bussers.

      I do have quite a few lvl 10 gems farmed since launch. Over my complete roster probably like 20, but at the same time i play high uptime swift classes for the most part which do require lots of dmg gems, of course including CO. So basically i spent way more gold/time than others for a weaker outcome. Cant wait to do it all over again.

    Gems should cost silver to get from cd to dps and vice.
    Gems should have 2 slots so you can have 1 cd gem with some effect and the same gem can be a dps or cd on the second slot, essentially making a possible true duo spec with ark passive engravings, meaning you need 11 gems in total for both specs. Mass preset for slot gem choice.
    Make all gems event, with silver per desired skill, more costly per silver but do once
    The new ap on gems plus equal cost should be enough for now to battle 60% damage efficiency classes atleast a little bit.

    If anything least my thoughts on gem system remove rolling for effects give it event gem selection but just pay upfront silver cost i.e lv 10t4 gem selection give it like 1.2mill silver coast to select the skill to roll. Gem building every third gem you should just get a selection box instead of it being a 50 50. Let at least the first 2 freely roll either a dmg dmg, cd dmg, or cd cd.

    I hope they make it at least applicable to multiple builds on one character. Having to buy 66 gems sucks but having 20 more for builds you wanna play sometimes sucks more.

    It is the same for us SF mains, whether EO or RS. Damage is split between 5 skills, although 3 of them do much of it.
    On RS you have Pummel, Energy and Tempest Blast, followed by Celestial Palm and Force Orb/Illusion Strike/Palm Burst.
    On EO you have Pummel, Shadowbreaker, Lightning Palm, followed by Celestial Palm and Force Orb/Tempest Blast/Illusion Strike.
    For us to reach our ceiling, we need to min-max gems on all these 5 damage skills. Meanwhile 1-gem classes do not even need to min-max, they are pretty much comfortable with 1-2 gems on their main damage skills. This is the inherent problems of class balance. Single main damage gem classes should receive a form of handicap, just as the 2-gem transformation classes have.

    Gems should be bound to classes, but not to skills. That way, you can swap between builds much easier. You pay a cost to change the class of a gem, similar to the price of rolling.

    Would be nice to be able to unlock gem skills the more silver you dump into it. Also being able to switch from DMG and CD gems (and vice versa) should cost silver

    Doesn't matter right, all classes need 11 gems regardless. It's a ap system per gem now isn't it? That was from a inven post wasn't it? So it doesn't matter if one class needs 1 attack gem or 2. It would be highly likely the attack gems ap gain will be identical, other than the dmg gain. The only classes that can realistically play end game with 1 attack gem is SH. But surge and Arty, what end game surge and arty have you seen with a single gem in thiamine hard, zero. Because you wouldn't even get into a party. The idea for single gem classes are for alts on legacy content.

      I dont think the base ap value on cd gems will make up up for the price difference. It will alleviate it a little bit but if you try to be efficient its the last thing you would upgrade. Even if the difference would be only 100k per gem( which is unlikely) thats already a 800k gap for CO to do less damage. One can cope that the stuff in the Ark passive does buff the engraving somehow as a last resort :P

    I know why people want these changes but I think people forget that this stuff is also supposed to revitalize the market and make gold start flowing again more regularly. I do agree with Memo though in that there are unfair concepts here, but at the end of the day people need to consider that lv9-10 will be improvement in damage compared to old gems.

    The biggest thing I'm concerned about is that I have 6 of the same class. What am I supposed to do when (for example) I only can push like 3 to T4, but the other 3 stay T3. I convert the gems to T4, and now my T3 alts cannot share anymore? Smells like bullshit to me unless I'm misunderstanding something.

      Well those 3 classes that didnt reach T4 wont be able to use T4 gems. So it depends. If you were using one set of gems for all 6 characters you were taking advantage of the flawed system really. As people with 6 different classes couldnt do that to begin with.

      na bro they said that all Tier 3 enjoyers will get perma engraving/gem support so you might not get lvl8's 9's or 10's but your alts will have gems so I personally wouldn't sweat it that much.

    yeah im hoping Smilegate really changes gems and makes it easier to change between builds. The whole point of this new engraving system was to make it easier to swap builds and thats what the KR director even said himself. so for gems to still be this cringe 50/50 rng -15mil silver per gem type system is stupid and needs to be changed

    The thing with point 2 is that those classes might need a lot more gems to reach their ceiling. But those classes are very strong to begin with as is. So if this change happens I would also expect that those calsses get nerfed sadly. But hey I might be wrong.

      @@edidaemon Damage wise? Both are up there. Compare them with for example Destroyer, Gunlancer, Berserker, Striker and such. They can outperform them easily yet the gem composition (skillwise) is the same.
      Obviously they are weaker than surge Deathblade and Asura but those are considered the top of the top. It doenst mean that gunslinger or glavier are weak at all.

      @@martinbudinsky8912 gunslinger is literally the weakest class in the game right now maybe besides CO, while being the squishiest and also having huge animation locks in the dmg rotation, with backloaded damage ontop GS, glaivier is fine tho, my 1580 glaiv with level 4 tripods and level 7 gems hits pretty hard already, the highest full level 10 gem parse of GS at my item level doesn't even reach an average reclear i had with my reflux while my sup died at x55 in thaemine, thats how bad GS is atm

      @@catprincess7935 Still doing better damagewise than the classes I named in my reply to edidaemon. It being a "squishy class" is a completely different problem than what I am talking about. But as far as damage without gems goes it can easily outperform most others. And thats the point I was making. The base line of its damage. Thats one of things that determins the ceiling of its damage with gems and other stuff added on. And that baseline damage is what gets tweaked in balance patches all the time. And if they make it easier to reach said ceiling they will also lower it. And since gems have static percentages the only thing they can lower is that baseline... Hope I made it clearer.

      @@martinbudinsky8912 destroyer literally has been nerfed cause it was too good in thaemine and behemoth, gunlancer outparses GS easily atm, zerker non atro normal run outparsed GS atro pushrun at similar gear, i think BT is probably trash tho, striker is litearlly 2 tiers above GS atm, its doing well in thaemine, not top of the pack but at least average, GS is literally in the lowest tier and only gets better at full 10s due to huge cooldowns and widespread dmg the use made out of full 10s is bigger than for other classes, and by better i mean, beats transformation classes, CO and maybe sharpshooter, the class is absolutely garbage atm, if you think otherwise do a run yourself and get 20 mil G3 NM on full 7s 1610 or 25 mil on full 10s, those are basically the numbers average classes get on a perfect run at 1610 no elixir set and GS is far from it

    I can understand why they added DMG gems for supports, but I think it was a really stupid decision for 1 reason:
    - WE NEED SUPPORTS COME ON WHY ARE YOU MAKING IT HARDER TO GEAR UP A SUPPORT THIS IS NOT WHAT THE GAME NEEDS RIGHT NOW, IT'S HARD ENOUGH TO GET PEOPLE TO MAKE 1 SUPP ALT
    I'm a supp main, I will appreciate the added ceiling once I can afford decent DMG gems, but this is terrible for the game as a whole. They've mentioned nothing else that will make supports more appealing to the average player, so this is making the support shortage strictly worse

      naw fk supports, im tired of going into lobbies that require Los30, lvl 9+ gems, 20-40 gearscore level above the min ilvl, and seeing the supports (often time the ones owning the lobby doing the gatekeeping) legitimately running around on ilvl, with level 5s or 7s and you have a plan 18. Realistically, this will probably change nothing. Quit complaining, you guys are so entitled.
      Yes by the way, I do have a support character, simply because the requirements are so much ridiculously lower and this game almost forces you to put some supports into your roster if you are pugging cause you cant reasonably get enough resources to gear 6 dps characters up to the level everyone wants.

      @@momoaa "naw fk supports" in a support drought is wild. If undergeared and underperforming supports are an issue for you, then *why on earth would you want them to be harder to gear up*???
      No one is forcing you to go into parties with shitty supports. Most supports are shitty alts of DPS mains like yourself. Getting mad at support players for taking advantage of the system is just stupid. Get mad at smilegate for making supports necessary to play with, but unrewarding to play. Quit calling other players entitled, we're all playing the same game, we're all getting fked over by the same developers.

    EW Deadeye should need only 3 DPS gems. (same for GS)
    1 gem for pistol skills, 1 gem for shotgun skills, 1 gem for rifle skils

    I really don't think combining all the damage gems in to one for keyboard classes is fair in the long run.
    because at the end of the day even though dps is compressed into one skill for classes like surge and breaker they still need to get additional damage gems. I know surge runs 5 damage gems not sure about breaker.
    so if they compressed all these classes dps skills into one skill now these classes have the advantage of only needing like 1-3 damage gems vs the 5+ the other classes need. its just the same issue flipped.
    at the end of the day the issue is about how much you need to invest in the class and unless its a class that literally only runs 1-3 damage gems like soul eater and the transform classes the concentrated damage classes are still investing just as much as the other classes it just they hit their damage spike sooner.

The reason they are considered 1 damage gem classes is because of the disgusting raw efficiency you get from that one gem because that skill represents such a large chunk of the damage distribution, which lets you skip out on needing large upgrades on the other skills in your build. Surge DB has 60% of its damage on 1 skill, you get a level 10 and its legitimately 24% damage boost for your class.
      Now lets look at pinacle, they have 3 skills that do about 20% of their damage, and 3 that do about 10%. Getting a level 10 gem only gives you a 8% damage boost to your class for the 20% skills and 4% damage boost for the 10% skills, so you have to do it for all 6 gems to pull even with deathblade.
      DB does have other skills that it needs boosted, but their damage distributions are 12.5%, 8.5%, 6%, and 5%. Throw a level 9 on dark axle and 7s on the other three, or 8s if you have the event pass. You are now getting a 24% (level 10 surge)+3.75%(lvl 9 axle)+1.8%(lvl 7 blade dance)+1.3%(level 7 turning slash)+1%(level 7 cleaver)
      This totals at ~32% dmg from gems, with 1 level 10, 1 level 9, and 3 level 7s.(equivalent of 39 level 7 gems)
      Now lets looks at pinnacle glavier, with a full level 9 gem setup (btw you need full level 9 cds to play efficiently aswell, which db doesnt have to deal with but we wont even get into that)
      7.5%(red dragon horn)+5.7(thrust)+5.3(pounce)+3.87(half moon)+3.3(4headed)+3(raging dragon).
      This totals at ~28.7%, which is 3% less damage than the DB build, while costing 54 level 7 gems, FIFTEEN MORE than DB!
      With a build that is full level 10 gems, you get 38% damage increase, which is 6% extra compared to the DB build, but you are spending SIX level 10 gems to do LESS damage (because of class balance, surge being a stronger class) than a class with 1 level 10 gem.
      I mentioned this earlier but you also want ideally at least 4 level 10 cd gems on glavier, while most classes can get away easily with 9s or even 8/7.
      If you made a gem that made some classes more efficient (for example, glavier had a gem to boost its red skill damage and its blue skill damage) pinnacle would still need to build 2 level 10 damage gems, and yeah it would end up doing slightly more than a deathblade build with only 1 level 10 gem (which seems entirely fair, btw). This would not flip the issue, it would just make it more fair.

      @@momoaa no I think your missing the point you guys aren’t looking at total investment at the end of the day your looking at damage spikes and efficiency. But people don’t stops investing on their characters after hitting efficiency you won’t find a single top tier blade that only has a level 10 surge gems and stops investing I their build they will end with all level 10 cd and damages and will have the same investment as the class that need the 6 damage gems to to hit their damage spike.
      The only way to solve this issue is to rebalance classes and damage distribution. This fix suggested here would make it so that those 6 damage classes only need 2 dps gems total and so now they are investing way less then the compression classes who still need to get the 5-6 gems regardless of their distribution.
      Anther possible solution would be to balance damage and cd gems so that they are the same price that would mean that everyone would be invested the same amount per character regardless of cd or damage gem since every class will fill out all 11 gems regardless.
      Any other conversation is just a balance argument not a gem system and investment argument.
      No burst or entropy classes complain during prog when hit master classes are on top. But it seems like it’s always a complain against these classes for the view places where they have advantages.

      @@dreadedronin24 If you legitimately put a level 10 gem on a skill that does 5% of your parse you are either a whale/rmter, or have a roster with a lot of supports. You have to look at this in the context of gearing 6 characters, not 1, so efficiency actually does matter a TON. It is not the standard or to be expected to fill out with full level 10s eventually, f2ps on western servers generally only have like 1 set of level 10s per character, except weird niche scenarios like people with 1 roster of the same class 6 times. This makes these 1 gem classes so much more powerful. I would know, I main master summoner, I have a level 10 akir gem and a level 9 spear cd/dmg set which will eventually be 10, but i finished the efficient spikes and moved on to putting 9s on all my other characters. Ive now been working on finishing those gems for actual classes that have gem requirements, for months and months.
      You are also missing the part where t4 gems give you damage for just having them equipped, so even if they made this change, you would still want to have all your slots filled out. The only difference is that 6 gems classes would be able to spike in a similar way that 1 gem classes would.

      Idk where this is coming from considering i was comparing db to pinnacle, two back attacker burst spec classes, pretty much as 1:1 as you can get except for 1 being wayyy better. While were at it, though, nobody complains about struggling more during prog as these broken classes because
      1) prog is like 1 week, and farm/homework is months/years
      2) these classes are objectively the best, so you would look REALLY SILLY trying to complain about not doing well, since the only reason you are losing is because you aren't playing well enough/dont know the fight well enough.

      @@momoaaI don’t see how you can say that you have to look at gearing 6 character and then also say that equipping one character with full level 10 is whale or RMT territory… most end game raid require full 9 damage gems at the point of the game we are at most people who have been playing since day one have at least one character with close to full 10a or at least all their damage skills. I have not whale or rmt’s and ever took a 3 month break and my main had full level 10 damage and my alts are all on level 9 damages. So I don’t see where this whale or rmt argument is coming from especially if you focus on building out one main before investing in alt class gems.
      And even if they make it so that cd and damage gems are equal if they do this change all where one damage gems impacts 6 skills they would not even fill out the 11 gems slots since 6 of there abilities out of the 8 are all in one or two gems.
      The only way to make the gem system fair is to make the gold investment similar for all the classes. The reason why transform classes are so weeks is because Smilegate realized that it’s not fair that the gold investment is so low on there classes for them to competed on the same level as classes who fill out all 11 gem slots.
      Going into damage distribution and when classes hit their spikes honestly is irrelevant to the gem system every class has its pros and cons and etc less investment for less damage trade off of transform class. Compress classes get the benefit of there spike being front loaded but also deal with more risk when their one big hit isn’t possible to get off. Stead dps classes deal with more spread out damage but less risk per skill and more constant dps from fight to fight. Every class can’t just get every benefit that’s how the game becomes homogenized and boring as someone who comes from an mmo that have gone down that right that’s not somthing I want to see happen to lost ark as well.

Another solution would be if we only need one dps and one cd gems that would affect every skill. That would make the investment and spikes of all classes the same but smile gate will never do that..

    So let me get this straight kr players say classes with low damage spread focus its unfair to gear. but the reality is that because you know it and many other people already know it you wouldnt or rather would not want to accept a surge blade if he didnt have a lv 9t4 or lv 10 T4 on surge. Just cause a class dmg type is easier to build does not mean they can escape the standards of getting into a party freely as that class type.

      Also you would still hit the ceiling slightly higher with just getting T4 lv 9 base line anyways cause it's old lv 10 T3 dmg but all of T4 at lv 9 is 1%ap increase. So literally almost a lv 2 MI or CD just having at least full lv 9 T4 gems.

I main master summoner which is also a 1 or 2 gem class and I still can see the issues with the system and think its pretty unfair. It doesnt hurt you at all to add this, it just makes other classes better and you are already playing the best class so why do you care?
