Fire Academy

The Fire Academy curriculum encompasses all of the required training to become a firefighter in the City of Tampa, Hillsborough County and surrounding municipalities. Graduates of the Fire Fighting program are eligible to take the state certification examination administered by the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training to become a certified fire fighter in Florida.
The Fire Academy provides comprehensive training that includes fire attack and control, fire ground and ladder, hose and rope operations, hazardous materials, and basic emergency medical care. Students experience simulated emergencies such as rescue missions, burn building exercises and fire tower work, while using professional equipment. Courses are taught on a variety of part-time and full-time schedules at the HCC-Ybor City Fire and Police Training Center.
