@@johnmarston2918 Our people come from an oral based society, there was no need to document, therefore there was no need for a writing system. Knowledge was passed on through stories and legends. The earliest form of documented writing system introduced to the to Mi'kmaq (Gaspesians) was from a missionary priest called Chrestian LeClercq , a form of Hieroglyphic. Search for the book called New Relation in Gespesia, to get a glimpse of the wild and free around 1675. Remember this was written from the eyes of a French priest and not the Mi'kmaq.
