For those of you confused about why FJ, not TJ. The Fe pattern was much more pronounced and obvious when watching the hours of raw clips.
Fe can also be quite authentic, genuine AND interested in laying down the rules. I'm sure those of you raised by ExFJ parents can attest to how Fe's can care just as much about rules and structure and enforcing as Te's haha.
In the raw clips over time, it was more clear the motivations behind her authenticity are never Fi, and behind the rules are never Te. I loved this analysis! I didn't expect her level of discipline but it makes sense since you really need it to make it in the industry. I love how she rolls with the punches and not too seriously, it's hard to be disciplined AND fun. Her extroversion comes from a place of authenticity and responsibility and not a need for individual expression and that's so unique. As an infj it's a struggle lol.

ive been so excited to find a video of yours that goes against the usual consensus, and this is the perfect one. she uses too much Ne not to have it in her stack and enfj has never sat right to me. she's definitely a healthy Fe user, most of Ireland have a 'family' and 'unity' everyone-knows-everyone dynamic which is where I think that stems from.

Very informative video Eric! PDB typed her as an ENFJ, but unfortunately that site has a lot of intuitive bias even if they are "educated" on functions. Her Si is extremely prominent.

@@EricWen People that type solely on visual typing need to understand other factors can manipulate body language. Plastic surgery - Health conditions - trauma - etc can all manipulate the human body. And that's not to say that I dont belive in it at all, it's just a system that is unreliable and wont give us the most accuarte results. The person cognition should allways come first! Visual typing is a good side note but nothing more. Of course this is just my opinion.

As INTP introverted sensing (Si) is my third function and I can definitely relate to Saoirse. She definitely learns from the past and tries to keep herself grounded. Past as a narrative to her life is very important.
I thought I haven’t heard of her before, so I went to her Wiki page and saw I actually had seen one film she was casted in.

I think culture also intermixes with personality. The Irish culture is very laid-back not necessarily conformist but very laid-back. That also has to do with the occupation/colonization of Ireland. Which plays out I believe in society

I fell the Fe is skill more required and cherished by the society, like.. people having prominent Fe tend to be more aware of their surrounding and adapt better/quicker to the current situation, right? Which are skills the "group" benefit from. I am a prominent Fi user and sometimes I feel (haha!) that this skill is usefull only for me and nobody else. I noticed it more when I got more immersed into Korean culture, where quick adapting and "reading the room" are highly desired skills. Which I lack. 😅

Interesting! I tend to type as an INTP (still up for debate) and have always related to her in many ways and have seen her as having certain strengths I’d like to mimic in some regards. An example being her seemingly well grounded Fe and her Si clarity shown within her communication.
To me, interacting with an Fi user feels like being in direct sunlight outside - you get both the sunlight and the heat. Where as interacting with this style of Fe is more like being in an appropriately air conditioned room with great windows on a sunny day - you can enjoy the sunlight for what it is without experiencing the heat, or choose to jump in fully - it’s up to you. Both bring different value, and some people may often appreciate the straight forwardness of Fi more.

Nice video. I can relate to her attributes, quite a bit actually. I'm also curious how her Irish background contributes to her responses because her down to earth vibe reminds me of people that I've met from Ireland, Scotland, New Zealand, and Australia.

It's organized. 🙌 I tried watching other MBTI vids before COVID 19 but most of what I watched were sorted in a way that I could easily lose track of the functions they're referring to. Thank you for this thorough breakdown. Comparing this with my functions notes from cs joseph, objective personality, you, and cluster of MBTI nerds in my life: you are correct. This is definitely an ESFJ. And I would know because I am an ESFJ. An ESFJ fueled by the tools of networking potential and JUSTICE to muscle through dense coursework of CS Joseph, Objective Personality Eric Wen, and a cluster of Observer leading friends that love MBTI and make typing look SOOOO easy. Well its not. ESPECIALLY when you lead with an extroverted decider function. It spends all day screaming "Oh Squirrel!" while our observers with room for a new voice of reason that finally has room to breathe and talk that's All. About. OURSELVES. Which we did after those embarrassing things that happened in middle school and repressed into the skeleton in the closet of our mind for a reason!

Me too! Because it’s so true that the environment we grow up in have such a major impact on us, and it’s so important to point out. My best friend for example, she is an INTJ. And she’s so incredibly confident and what not, that people might think she’s an ENTJ. In the internet people give of the impression that INTJs can have bad confidence, be depressed etc. But she’s the most healthy and balanced person I know, and she had an amazing upbringing with extremely supportive parents. All of the most confident people that I know and have met, had supportive parents and a good upbringing with their family.

the DP/30 interviews are amazing, particularly before the pandemic. He's kinda weird & borderline creepy sometimes but he pulls it off somehow & talks to a lot of big stars & has talked to Saoirse like 4 times since she was a kid . . good stuff.

As an INFP I feel like ive had multiple friends who were like her. They make me feel comfortable and are good at leading in awkward social situations. They noticed when i needed a little help cause i was feeling umcomfortable. But they can also be quite bossy 😂. Idk just my impression

It's hard for me to imagine loving rules and structure too. It's just so antithetical to who I am. When I contemplate it too, most rules are obviously manmade; shoulds and shouldn'ts are not inherent in nature therefore they don't feel natural. But I like the rules that allow us to stay safe and peacefully co-exist.

Could you do Henry Cavill? I watch interviews with celebrities and I feel like I’m really good at guessing men’s mbti types, but I don’t know his. I think because I know other men that are INFPs and so on, I can really pick them out of a crowd so I’m thinking I don’t have anyone in my circles that are whatever his mbti is. I couldn’t tell Saoirse’s either and I don’t have anyone that I’m close with with her type. None of my friends or family are ESFJ. Thanks for this awesome channel!

Kind of wish you'd also type people by Enneagram. While most ESFJ are type 2 enneagram, I bet Saoirse Ronan is something like a type 7w6, which would account for her differences.

If there's enough proper evidence for something, I do keep track of those patterns in the back of my head when i'm talking to people...but it has to be substantial and recurring clues over some time...not just by looking at people or after small interactions bc I'm always concerned with being thorough and as accurate as I can. Fe is also very much into rules, enforcing and structure…her focus behind all the rules was never just about efficiency or “getting things done”. It was more diplomatic, gracious and conscientious of either the people around her or the people involved with the project she was working on.

I didn't really watch much of her but that's the first type that came to mind. She doesn't seem to blend into her enviornment like an Fe user, she's not the prototype of the typical popular girl. She's more assertive, her manner of concern for the people around her seems very Te like. She reminds me of Bette Davis who I think was an ENTJ.
No because of how thoughtful she is of others. That's the difference. She and my husband are almost identical in personality. He is an ESFJ. I have never met a more caring individual who makes sure that the recycling is not mixed in with the garbage. He is a rule follower.

Hi i just wanna say that every test I've taken has said that I'm a ESFJ but they always mention that people pleaser part of and I never really related to until I watched the video i remember at some point in my life I was a people pleaser but I grew ot of it in my early teens. :)

The dp30 interviews she’s done are good unedited and very authentic. Usually with ExTJ’s Te you still see that Fi individuality signal flare up over time. With her that never pops up. her personal sorting and creating boundaries imo was Ti, not Fi.

she is in complete control of her career. you will not see her in a marvel movie and she has no interest in that. not her bag. she is going to be a director and I can well see her do that. plus more stage work. she has a phenomenal recall. jim norton worked wtih her in the crucible and he was struggling so she saw that and sat down with him and what blew him away was she knew both of their parts and she had memorised the entire book. same with atonement. she got that role after one audition, she knew the part inside out.
i remember the first time I saw her in the clinic and that role was as a controlling child who chose to be with her father over her mother, as a child character she had ice in her veins. joe wright cast her in atonement after her first audition and she read the book inside out. and Briony Challis inside and out.
she has two movies coming out One is a dark comedy set in film set and the other is based on a memoir of real life addict.

I was thinking isfj not esfj because she was calm with people and herself and her Si is very dominant (and I tend to forget that extraverts exit 😁). And I didn't analyzed her that was a jump to the conclusion based on 1 interview from her that I've seen year ago and I had esfj in my mind but we've had so many esfjs that I tried to go with less obvious but still relevant
