What a fun episode!! 😄 Had me laughing! Love meeting Ivy and seeing all the projects and hearing the stories. Your mom's needle case and project bag are amazing!! And Hobbs is adorable!!
Thanks for another entertaining episode. Your friends are always so cool. I loved the Lennon/Lenin dog story. My dog is named Bernie (Sanders when he’s good, Madoff when he’s bad). Have a happy new year, in knitting and all things.
Great relaxed episode. Your Mum is so clever to make both the needle case and the project bag look so professional. Lovely to see your childhood friend and her knits. Happy New Year to you. 🇬🇧
Ivy the row after your ssk (only the gusset decreases) if you knit that stitch through the back loop it helps. Or try to substitute a skpo (slip one, knit one, pass slip stitch over for ssk. 😘 Great podcast with amazing giggly energy!
What a fun episode! Spent the whole thing singing "I Need a Hero" from Shrek. Cheers to a knitting-filled new year! (also obsessed with wax canvas--wish I could sew like your mom!!)
I also wish I could sew like her! Or that I had time to learn. I think I have too many hobbies already. Cheers to the Fairy Godmother absolutely SLAYING that song!
Norman of Nimble Needles has some great very specific tips for ssk and other increase or decrease techniques, highly recommend. In our household the phrase was 'That'll buff right out..' I believe it was from Trains Planes and Automobiles, the burned-out car sequence. Sewist= awful word for a lovely skill.
Knitting the Stash has a great short rows tutorial that worked for me (& I think she throws/flicks English style). My 19 year old recently realized that the AG Store cafe in Tysons VA serves alcohol so she is planning on having her 21st bday in the party room 🤣
Hi there! Patty Lyon’s has a trick to make SSKs look great! I know it’s in her book, but she might also have a video about it online somewhere. Enjoyed your video Emma!
Thank you for an awesome podcast! I think this was my favorite of all of 2023. I had never seen that Conan video, absolutely hysterical, thank you! I wish you a very Happy New Year 🎆
i knitted a sweater for my terrier and she loves it,,,the pattern was from ourl soho...check it out,,, you could make it in a lanolin rich wool for weather resistance
I have that pattern! I made it for a tiny tiny yorkie some years ago and it is so adorable. I plan to make one for Hobbes someday...hopefully he wears it!
Emma, your podcasts are always so relaxed, like knitting with a friend! Please tell me how I could pay your Mom to sew a needle case for me! That is EXACTLY what I've been looking for, as my Addi lace needles ans shorties keep falling out of mine. How could I acquire one? Have a lovely holiday!
My goodness, I certainly wouln't neec a special custom made one...I would just love to buy one like she's already made. Or anything similar in whatever fabric she has! Thank you for keeping me in mind!
Oh, and my favorite SSK that lays flat....slip knitwise, slip purlwise, knit thru back loop. Patty Lyons tip I've used for years.

Thanks so much! I had the best time with Ivy. And yes, my mom is incredible with her sewing details - I am so blown away by it every time!

We are truly unhinged together sometimes! Thanks for the tip - I will pass it along :)

That is so funny about buffing right out! I agree that sewist is a bit of a strange word.
I love the mitten idea!!!! What a sweet gift. I love the book and this is a treasure.
The funniest thing I've seen about the mitten so far is that my friend tried to put her baby IN the mitten!
Ivy, try nimble knitter he's great for his technique explanations.
Sorry, Nimble Needles
Loved this episode…just like I love them all!!! Wishing you a wonderful New Year!!! ♥️🐑♥️🐑♥️
And the same to you! Thanks for watching :)
Love the episode and Happy New Year to you and yours!🥳
Happy new year to you too! Thanks for tuning in :)

So glad you enjoyed it - getting to record with Ivy was easily my favorite part of Tiny Desk Knitting's 2023 season, too!!

If she ever decides to take custom orders, I will make sure to let you know!
