  • Follow up video to my original Kmart cinematic edit. A lot of people asked for a longer, more in depth video in the Kmart headquarters so I figured that I should make one.
    Songs (in order):
    vowl. - ink (gin$eng constest)
    JAEGER - Sins
    Hucci & The Ninetys - OC

    In a view it's sad to see such a building being one of Michigan's and the country's most successful businesses reduced to what is today. (Eddie Lampert is a tool)
    Thank you for making this video as it looks much different than when I was through during the actioning of all the office desks and equipment many years back.

    What a beautiful building it once was. Probably the best modular office building ever. Someone should buy it, clean it up, and bring it back to use again. Perhaps half the building to be offices, and half to be shopping stores, and the auditorium and the cafeteria for special events or entertainment.

    • @saintbynature
      @saintbynature 7 років тому +6

      Someone did buy it back in 2008. The building is by no means the best office building! Its getting torn down soon enough. These kids knocked 5 years off their lives by breathing the air in there. LMFAO there is so much black mold and asbestos in there. You need a mold respirator. These kids arnt too smart

    • @J2KMedia
      @J2KMedia  7 років тому +7

      Before you comment more bullshit please do some research on exposure to asbestos and the body's immune system and respiratory system.

      I worked there from 1979 to 2001 as an electrician. There was no asbestos used during construction either on phase one or two. It was a beautifully engineered building designed for ease of remodeling, which we did continuously for what seemed to be for no good reason. It used a Honeywell pneumatic driven climate control system that my dad had a fairly big part in starting in 1972. During the mid 1980's the place was really hopping and they were making money hand over fist.... Then mismanagement fucked it all up. I wish I could have went in there with you and given you a spectacular tour. You did a really nice job on this video and I thought the editing was nice as well. Greetings from Arizona.

    My mother started working here straight out of high school. Worked there for 25 years. I remember when all of the layoffs started happening. They were offering to pay their workers to go to india to train them to do their jobs. Anyway this video brings back memories of when this place was alive and man was it huge and beautiful. Had the best take your kid to work day gig ever!

    Thank You for the video.Kmart International Headquarters at 1 time was a Giant. Troy headquarters employed over 5200 employees. I spent a week in 1980 here and was just amazed . There were K mart executives all over the place..There were "buyers" for everything.! buyer just bought balls. thats all just bought balls . Sad I retired after 30 years

    • @saintbynature
      @saintbynature 7 років тому +1

      I work for the company that owns it now. If u saw it in its prime? Your jaw would drop now. Scrappers and vandals have destroyed it from top to bottom and the basement flooded out a cpl years ago. The air alone is a death trap

      Wow that's a shame. i was amazed at the building and its layout. That was back in 1981. unfortunate it does not look good for K mart or Sears. Met Charlies Angels while I was there..Nice ladies... also Martha Stewart..thats another story. very demanding

      Yeah. I thumbed down the video since they added that crappy music to it. I prefer narration about the buildings or just plain old silence over some horrible music being added to a video.

    I'm sick to death of people breaking into abandoned buildings. If they'd go there and just take pictures, that's one thing. But when they go there and smash glass, paint their "mark" on the walls and destroy whatever they can, they need to be found and put in jail. This is the start of another Detroit Train Station. How sad.

    Here in 2022 there is no board to get in its all covered in weeds and stone but I got in some how, lots of graffiti and shit inside it, such as fucking broken windows and other stuff. If you try to goto the 3rd floor jt will probably collapse and you will die. Also the basement is flooded. I had friends who worked there also and told me they could give me a tour😂, so they did and turns out there’s a part where it shows all of old computers and executive office where there is papers saying that Kmart has left and other creepy notes too. If your going in just be careful because you could get hurt
