Just one of my favourite piano clips of all time - forget Lang Lang and Kissin, this is REAL pianism. I am sure Scarlatti would have loved it. Thank you, Irena, for your wonderful musicianship!
So many pianists just race through Scarlatti and make it a mere technical/virtuoso piece. I appreciate she doesn't pull the tempo too much. Musicality is great and I love the attention she pays to the percussiveness and clean articulation. Brava!
Irene, you have given us a very brilliant rendering of arguably Domenico's most exciting sonata. Stunning. This sonata, well-played as here, always gives me goosebumps. I understand that. But why it also makes me weep I do not know. It is not sad. Rather it is filled with a superhuman striving and assertiveness. A joyous exuberance that would seem beyond this world were it not for your and others playing it so well. It takes a lot to do justice to K. 119. Scarlatti is applauding you.
To play a piece of such obvious technical difficulty with such poise and grace almost makes the music sound as if it were not so difficult after all. Beautifully done and pleasingly captivating. I agree with Mr. Melville wholeheartedly.
My Dear Irena, No one would think any less of you if you didn't have the music right in front of you. In the mean time I'm flabbergasted that you have it all memorized. Bravo!
Just amazing! Wonderful - beautiful - love it - love it - love it : ) Perfectly played and mesmerizing to watch - absolutely love the cracking tempo with perfect precision.
she does a great job of playing a harpsichord piece on the piano. Her embellishments makes the one of the piece more oriented toward the original intention of it being played on a harpsichord (like rolling the left had D chords in the first 6 measures). Excellent job!
Marvellous!!! I see a great technique with the fingers to obtain a "clavicembalistic" sound...(that it is the Bach tecnique..if I am not wrong).... The sound is perfect and your interpretation is vigorous and full of vital energy... Compliments!!
Oh man! She plays wih such gracefulness in the gentle parts, then power with the more 'manly' parts! This wrocks, and if it weren't for her expertise, it wouldnt! It takse both great music and a great musician. This has both!
How can she play so evenly tempo even with too many difficult trils with jumping hands sometimes. Bravo! She makes me want me to learn this piece and I'm thinking to learn this piece . Very playful and powerful baroque piece ! Love it ! ♡ :))
Scarlatti meets Beethoven in a big, bold 19th century style Romantic interpretation. This is not a criticism, just an observation about this pianistic approach. A very assured, imaginative and musically polished performance.
Irena - this is so good!!!! You can make even a 'Stoneway' sing and become a 'musical instrument' and not only remain an 'advanced percussion device'....! Hearing this from a harpsichord prof (!) - admitting such in public - is hopefully 'coming home' (!) Your sense of form, articulation and dynamics paired in a well-timed phrase is very positive indeed - and I get really pleased when listening to you!
this woman has some masterful and extremely muscular hands. bravo! so crisp and clean and in control! she reminds me of my piano teacher who used to play this song in a similar manner, though my teacher had some more physical flamboyance.
@ dman211 This is simply gorgeous playing here. Of course Mrs. Koblar is also a gorgeous woman but even without any video, this performance is still second to none. But yeah, you're quite right.....................................................
WOW. awesome. scarlatti usually bores me, but this performance really held my interest - i played it 4 times before writing my review....... ms. koblar is really a major talent.
I've respectfully listened to several Scarlatti renditions which sounded to me as pure exercise, just showing off undoubtely great technique but poor musicality - Obviously I deeply appreciate this warmer and coloured playing, not just notes but music - delighted to hear more of your Scarlatti -grateful for posting=
FASINANTEMENTE HERMOSO!! ... Y mucho mejor en piano ...no suelo gustar de obras para harpicordio en piano pero esta es una de las esepciones...MUY BIEN TOCADA!!
Her finger work is so definite. It is unusual for most pianists to play like this. And observe how her little finger curls up when she plays. Just goes to show that "right" technique is very subjective from pianist to pianist. Brava! to her. I wonder how she'd sound doing something gentle and mushy.
@greenunseen I think so, too. I meant to make a different argument, namely, that I some concrete illustration might make bombomchilom's remarks, which I do not understand at all, more comprehensible. I rarely find opinions interesting to read, but concrete information or illustration on which opinions are based are.
Wow! ...Now I'm going to search for more Scarlatti piano pieces!
Just one of my favourite piano clips of all time - forget Lang Lang and Kissin, this is REAL pianism. I am sure Scarlatti would have loved it. Thank you, Irena, for your wonderful musicianship!
I also like Pogorelich, but anything except these two 😇
Don't mind Lang Lang but Kissin is really great. You don't have to downgrade other pianists to compliment others

How you do THAT!? And you know which chords with one repeated note I'm talking about...Insane, superb, marvelous!
I often like to listen to the original harpsichord version, but this is a fantastic piano version! Brilliant!
How can she play so evenly tempo even with too many difficult trils with jumping hands sometimes. Bravo! She makes me want me to learn this piece and I'm thinking to learn this piece . Very playful and powerful baroque piece ! Love it ! ♡ :))

Totally convincing; wonderful; marvellous. ....and sooo beautiful :)

Reading my Music History book about this sonata by Palisca and at the same time listening to it! Amazing!
this woman has some masterful and extremely muscular hands. bravo! so crisp and clean and in control!
she reminds me of my piano teacher who used to play this song in a similar manner, though my teacher had some more physical flamboyance.
Fantastic!
Koblar is magnificent performer of Scarlatti!!! My favourite with Pletnev!
fabulous playing. keep it up!!!
Such high level of artistry, who needs famous-named pianists.
@ dman211 This is simply gorgeous playing here. Of course Mrs. Koblar is also a gorgeous woman but even without any video, this performance is still second to none. But yeah, you're quite right.....................................................

very beautiful!
marvelous playing, I love your repeated notes! Don't know how you did that~ It is surely a difficult piece to perform!
@Rugghead98 I think the style is actually quite nice, especially since she is playing on a piano.
Her finger work is so definite. It is unusual for most pianists to play like this. And observe how her little finger curls up when she plays. Just goes to show that "right" technique is very subjective from pianist to pianist. Brava! to her. I wonder how she'd sound doing something gentle and mushy.
best bit
Jannokas85, Pogorelich has a terrific CD of Scarlatti sonatas. This one is on it. Check it out !
Bravissima!!
Splendida!
magnifique ce contrepoint

Pogorelich is from her neighbouring country!
