The amount od acces jornalism related to this game makes me think EA is really afraid and needs to buy "positive hype" as much as possible. And no one invited to play early acces will say anything bad, cause that would be their last invitation to such an opportunity ever.
I enjoyed Origins, had too much, STILL DO have fun playing Dragon Age 2 default Female Hawke on Series X. DA:I was too much of a fetch quest, good grief. But. NOW I ❤️ it. This game has to have a solid story, Seriously. I’m going to wait..
Whew. Where to start.... Veilguard has seem to have dropped alot of Dragon Age's DNA to me. I know the game is not for the original DA Origins, or even DA 2 players, but so much has been taken away that this seems to be a whole different game that is pretending to be Dragon Age. Reduction in powers. Reduction in party members. Took away the ability to control your party members. Took away the tactical top-down screen. The Qunari seem to just be humans cosplaying Qunari. Elves seem to have lost their look and also look like humans. NPCs giving off that Andromeda "my face is tired" feel. The cartoonish smooth faces of characters and no grizzled looking veterans (Inquisition's Blackwall is still one of my favorite designs, along with the Arishok of DA 2). Look at how they destroyed the Darkspawn too, they look like retarded husks from Mass Effect- even seems as if they forgot what Red Lyrium is and dropped it. The goofy fast paced Warrior acting like they are a Rogue jumping and zooming around also puts me off (even the Captain America shield throw that has your shield just come back, lol wtf?), even though some of the combat moves look better- same can be said about the Mage class. And maybe i am just nitpicking, but the combat seems too "colorful"- too busy- too not Dragon Age. This game seems to just dumbed down the gameplay and is trying to be Mass Effect- which is fine for Mass Effect because its a cover based shooter with powers; Dragon Age doesn't have you using cover as much which is why you are more tactical with your setup and gameplay. This easily could have been a different game where it's you as one character using a boatload of different powers instead of having a party with you- kind of like The Witcher. It just doesn't feel like Dragon Age to me, more like an action game instead of an RPG. My wife also says that Asmongold pointed out something in character creation that no other reviewer that was paid to go out and play/test the game has mentioned; that her body type seems to be absent (she is tall, athletic and definitely not just a "B" cup woman), and only "flat" body parts can be used, and that this game seems to be aimed at only having you look like a girl instead of being a fully matured woman. Again, we will wait to see real players create their Rook to see if this is true. The story is what we are also looking at, so hopefully that part is good. I know I am still going to wait a good bit to even consider picking this up, but if my wife likes it, I may just watch her play should she get it. With all of these backwards steps to take away the Dragon Age feel, I am very skeptical and may be fully skipping this game, but I am hoping it does well enough to get the next Mass Effect, hopefully not created by this team, because I would like it to stay Mass Effect and not be turned into another game pretending to be some other game which is very evident here with Veilguard. Well, I think I may start up Inquisition again, for I did enjoy that one, but will try a Mage class this go around. Mr. Hulthen, it's always good to see your videos. Cheers, mate.
i wouls prefer them to do like in the heroes games, that you can click ex. ALT button to mark items or get them to glow. instead of having them to glow all the time.
You can revisit your companions in other games but they usually ask "whats up?" and since u already talked about everything you just answer "goodbye" and thats it ... i dont see why this is wrong in DA.
My conclusion from watching the impression video, is that its not for me. I do agree with you comment on the chests etc glowing, I think its made so to capture new audiences. Overall for me when I look at the game - artstyle and the glowing + indicators etc - just looks like a Moba game redone for console and pc. The only redeeming quality for it, is if the story is actually good, but thats hard to tell. So overall I do think that I wont pick this game up on launch(which will be the first BioWare game in what 2 decades of gameing?) with games from them. Hopefully they didnt do the cardinal trap of media over the last 5-10 years, where they cater to a group of potential consumers - who actually ends up not consumeing their products(be it SW who sort of catered to new audiences, but in the same row ended up alienating large parts of their older fanbase and thus overall lost alot of money). I fear that if this game fails, it will mean that BioWare will be broken up, most laid-of and the talent shipped to new studios, and their existing games shipped to other studios in the EA-group) I feel its a risky move to "shake things up in terms of artstyle etc" this much in an existing ip, and when its also a continuation of a previous ongoing story. Had this been a new addition to the lore post resolveing of this game, then fine.
I won’t be buying because simply, everything I have seen still stinks of the Live Service Multiplayer first iteration of the game. From the over ‘Simsifiying’ of the characters that all those Maxis devs brought over to the ‘launch mission’ screens to continue the game. Even the companion interviews boil down to ‘well x character is super nice, X character has a tough shell but is super nice, x character is an assassin/necromancer, but not mean ones, because they’re super nice/they’re a romantic!’ Where are the actual interesting DIFFERENT characters here? I want to hear characters ARGUE, be INTERESTING. But so far we have heard nothing but ‘wow! Super nice!’ it’s so soft and safe. Hearing the words ‘well they’re one big found family’ is basically code for: ‘these guys are going to be as bland as Andromedas crew because we aren’t going the mature route any more, we are going down the CW path again.’ Sorry, but I’m going to need to hear a final completion review to know whether this Live service trying to be an action game pretending to be an RPG is actually even an RPG in function. It all just seems to be flashy, linear and a bit lame.
love everyone is praising the hair lol like years from now when asked what was the most impressive feature in Dragon age Veilguard was the answer will be; The Hair.
I dont get the criticism of the art style. It really dont bother me. I feel like people just want something too nitpick. And too me the characters faces dont look like playdoh lol. I dont like most of the Darkspawn designs though. I am excited for this game personally.
The combat, romance, character creator and story somehow feel very seperated. If you know what i mean, not only that they made seperatly more like they made no real sense in the world. Like you are a fat she/trans-elf who is the only hope for the world, a perfect fighter perfect for the job who starts with zero combat abilities and everyone will lay with you because you are of course perfekt. They want to make it like the real world but it feels like its more how they want the real world.

Any of the previewers outright claiming that the game is 'very good' like that 'review' from Eurogamer is full of BS. They only got to play 6 hours of limited content. They didn't get to see any story (other than the introduction), meet half the companions, or have any idea how it will play out or end. They don't know.
@@masc4mascara39 Like all new games, I don't pre-order, wait for release, and then get actual reviews before I make a decision about if I want to buy and play the game. These positive articles are designed to build player excitement and to encourage pre-orders. I don't know any other industry where customers are so strongly pushed to pay ahead of time for something. The industry is so messed up. Companies sell preorders with big marketing pushes. Players buy stuff sight unseen. There is very little incentive for companies to actually make good games since they make all their money before anyone even plays the game. Its bad for players, its bad for quality, and long term its bad for the industry.

@@masc4mascara39 I think Wolf is fantastic, and I found his opinion very honest and a good listen, but I agree with you 100%. I'll have to ask the black & trans people in my community (UA-cam comment sections are not community as 70% of people that watch are not even subscribed) about how bad it has been for them dealing with all of the racism and transphobia in my community. Crazy that not a single one has said anything to me! 😂
Wrote big comment, got deleted, maybe too long to read. Sorry for some longread in advance. Basically, people are not wanting cRPG experience. People expect Bioware to keep up with the genre staples (systems design, storytelling methods and branching, writing of companions and so on) which were pushed and created by Owlcat, Obsidian and Larian for the past 10-12 years, while providing that cinematic experience Bioware is known for and experts at. I don't think it is an unreasonable ask, since the subgenre (western fantasy party based RPG), in terms of everything, but cinematics (at least till last year), moved and improved significantly since Bioware released their previous fantasy party-based RPG. If Bioware has different ideas on design and their audience - it is actually good, fine. It is good to understand for who they are making the game and specifics of this game. I don't mind if the game isn't for me (even tho DA:TV is kind of me, as a secondary audience, just as a BIoware fan in general, since BG1-2, and absolute Mass Effect trilogy fanboy). Just saying why people ask, because both Pillars of Eternity games, both Pathfinder games, DOS2 and BG3 is where fantasy RPGs are right now, and, in my humble opinion, all of them are significantly ahead of DA:I in terms of being RPGs. Bring cinematics to any of these games, on the level for which Bioware is going for, and it would be instant classic/GOTY contended, especially both Pathfinder games. They would absolutely blow away the so-called "general audience".
As much as I agree with the goofy demon thing I still say gameplay and story over graphics anytime. Take C.O.D games the graphics were always cutting edge but the stories became so generic. That besides I agree with 99% of what you say and still loving yer stuff. Keep up the great work MrHulthen sir. After your recommendation I have indeed subscribed to your friends channel

I also share some concerns but this has been ridiculous especially when people are complaining about things that they were willing to ignore in other games. It is what it is but I just wanted to point it out. I myself I’m just waiting to see what reviews look like closer to release but I have been more positive than not from what I have seen and I was there in 2009 playing Origins on release.
@@panamakira oh for sure, some comments are absolutely too judgemental without real justification, and some are straight up hateful (and i make sure to remove those users whenever i spot them). Honestly, the lead up to launch has been a complete zoo & it's probably only going to get worse :/

@@rudy1999 rhey the wand combat of the last hp game was great so why not
The amount od acces jornalism related to this game makes me think EA is really afraid and needs to buy "positive hype" as much as possible.
Really appreciated the opportunity to get to know a little bit more about Swedish lore with this live
If they fix proportions I would be 10x more excited to play the game, and that's saying something given how excited I already am.
The combat clearly still has plenty of unique BioWare DNA. Calling it a God of War- like seems disengenious.
It just looks like a Harry Potter game with advanced wand combat lol
Wolf is wrong about the UI. Others have tweaked the UI in setting to make sure it’s not so busy. He just never did that himself.
if there's no option to turn off all the visual hud stuff, that'll defo be some of the first mods. that and wrinkle qunari heads haha
The best game in franchise is Dragon age origins. Is this game better then that?
i wouls prefer them to do like in the heroes games, that you can click ex. ALT button to mark items or get them to glow. instead of having them to glow all the time.
Wolfheart and MrHulthen are the GOATS
I fear that if this game fails, it will mean that BioWare will be broken up, most laid-of and the talent shipped to new studios, and their existing games shipped to other studios in the EA-group)
I feel its a risky move to "shake things up in terms of artstyle etc" this much in an existing ip, and when its also a continuation of a previous ongoing story.
Even the companion interviews boil down to ‘well x character is super nice, X character has a tough shell but is super nice, x character is an assassin/necromancer, but not mean ones, because they’re super nice/they’re a romantic!’
Where are the actual interesting DIFFERENT characters here? I want to hear characters ARGUE, be INTERESTING. But so far we have heard nothing but ‘wow! Super nice!’ it’s so soft and safe. Hearing the words ‘well they’re one big found family’ is basically code for: ‘these guys are going to be as bland as Andromedas crew because we aren’t going the mature route any more, we are going down the CW path again.’
Sorry, but I’m going to need to hear a final completion review to know whether this Live service trying to be an action game pretending to be an RPG is actually even an RPG in function. It all just seems to be flashy, linear and a bit lame.
I also don’t like the squishy cartoony character design, BUT after seeing Rook run around it looks good together. 😊
1:10:03 the tieflings are not a good reference at all. Their horns looks glued on and their headshape is identical to the other races.
love everyone is praising the hair lol like years from now when asked what was the most impressive feature in Dragon age Veilguard was the answer will be; The Hair.
Inquisition had power combos too.
Loved pulling them off in multi, especially the so called "cross-class" ones.
Even 2 had some, but you kinda had to try different things to see what worked
Never trust IGN in any case
Raid Shadow Legends look to it.
I dont get the criticism of the art style. It really dont bother me. I feel like people just want something too nitpick. And too me the characters faces dont look like playdoh lol.
I dont like most of the Darkspawn designs though. I am excited for this game personally.
if this goes sideways we protest for continued mass effect lol
After all this time I still don`t see a Dragon Age....
And now I really afraid for mass effect 🙄
i just know im gonna spend hours in that character creator..
they should of just stayed with the art stile of Inquisition.
If we are ok and agree whit this, the next mass effect will be like this or worse.

Cry about it ❄️
So sick of hearing about character creator and hair I just want a good story and lore (no choices mattering sucks)
I kinda like it and people who don’t like it i am sure modders will add mods that will change them probably at some point
looks almost exactly like DA2 with better graphics and without gore.
DA2 combat got boring after act 1
Soooooo dwarfs somehow now know magic???

Dragon Age veil guard will be dead on arrival. After all, the pre-orders are not good.
What if the darkspawn look different partially because Ghil captured and mangled people in the world?

Any of the previewers outright claiming that the game is 'very good' like that 'review' from Eurogamer is full of BS. They only got to play 6 hours of limited content. They didn't get to see any story (other than the introduction), meet half the companions, or have any idea how it will play out or end. They don't know.
@@trengilly01 by your own logic you don’t know either :) so, what now?
Why don't you say the same about those claiming the game is shite? Same logic should apply there
@@FearlessXful Oh I 100% agree. The haters should be ignored also. The context of this video and all the new 'previews' were all about things being positive which is why I mentioned that. Right now the 'this game sucks' people tend to be the usual crowd living in the corners of the internet.
The Public and game media articles are almost 100% positive.
the ones saying the game is good are saying the exact same words of that video from IGN, full of BS and payola I fear.
Wolfheart had the only honest impression out of all the other youtubers. Veil Guard looks like a cartoony mobile game, a total departure from dark fantasy.
Is it honesty or is it confirmation bias? Not to suggest he was dishonest, but he was the only “honest impression” to you because you happen to feel the same way. That’s not universal.
@@masc4mascara39 I think Wolf is fantastic, and I found his opinion very honest and a good listen, but I agree with you 100%. If your view has already been set in stone as "this game is shit", then any review/preview that disagrees, is automatically a paid shill, no matter what they say.
I've already seen quite a few people who are still unhappy with some of the changes made, but are now more cautiously optimistic than they were, but that somehow makes them 'not honest'? I mean come on, really?
@@VysetheLegendary Yep, you nailed it. The idea that criticism is automatically honest but praise isn’t just shows how many people lack critical thinking/analysis skills, but that’s a can of worms in itself. I have my own issues with Veilguard from what I’ve seen but I think a lot of people just need to accept Origins is never coming back and choose not to engage if they’re not happy with that fact.
So it is honest because you agree with it? People who have a different opinion are not being honest? Keep crying
@@VysetheLegendary if anything Wolfheart being critical shows that every reviewer is not paid and free to voice their honest opinions, be it positive or negative.
Ah yes, Wolfheart, who is extremely biased and has a toxic community who hates on trans people and people of color. I'll skip his section.
I'll have to ask the black & trans people in my community (UA-cam comment sections are not community as 70% of people that watch are not even subscribed) about how bad it has been for them dealing with all of the racism and transphobia in my community. Crazy that not a single one has said anything to me! 😂
People need to stop coping about this not being a CRPG. Get over it. I wouldn’t trust Wolfheart on this topic at all.
How dare people enjoy doffrent types of games thay you dont. THE NERVE
It's gonna be a no from me since they're so busy putting in top surgery scars instead of good gameplay.
