    What about all the human sacrifice and brutality of the Aztecs? So much for the truth of this bio! Cortes was a hero and actually saved lives by stopping the human sacrifices.

    • @yoholup19
      @yoholup19 4 роки тому

      Not exactly because you realize he actually caused a mass genocide
      Neither side was correct but the natives all sacrificed each other to please their gods
      Europeans slaughtered their own by burning and hanging those that were thought to be witches

      Well, human sacrifices were part of their religion. Christianity has caused more wars & deaths than the Aztecs.🤷🏻‍♂️

      @Era Fascista show me when did the Aztecs slaughter over 5 million people in the span of a century I'll wait
      Aztecs slaughtered max 500 thousand in the same amount of time

    "One of the greatest civilisations that was known in the world at that time" : Except they sacrificed up to 50.000 human beings (that's up to 5 million people over the centuries) a year for their gods. Thank God Cortes was sent to deliver their people from such a tyrannical system. See Warren Carroll's "Our Lady of Guadalupe and the Conquest Of Darkness"

      These are ridiculous estimates as if they were any truth to them, they would have run of out of victims, including their own subjects, within a few years. Not a surprise that certain kind of idiots want to believe this racist propaganda for their own personal agendas. Even Iberian clergymen refuted such bigoted claims and in fact stated that it was Iberians who routinely tortured and killed native slaves for entertainment.

    To say Cortes was a "Hitler" or "Stalin" is ludicrous. The Aztec rulers were the decimators of their own people. Cortes did not randomly slaughter unsuspecting Aztecs. He had to answer for every action to the Crown of Spain (was a loyal Catholic) and joined by the Tlaxcalans, a neighboring city state that was under fierce domination and rule and who were tired of being consistently butchered by the Aztec Totalitarian Religious State and wanted their freedom.
    Cortes did however make his share of mistakes, he was no saint, per se, and his man Pedro de Alvarado committed atrocities in his absence. Yet he ultimately proved victorious with Indian SUPPORT.
    In case you didn't know Aztecs would rip your heart out in less than a "heartbeat". No mercy. They viewed everything as a 'sacrifice'. Your life meant nothing to them other than a burnt offering. Your child would be tossed in to the fire pit along with your wife… They fed the body parts of these unfortunates to their own children seated in rose scented boxes. Plus the Aztec inhabitants and slaves were eventually liberated by their own faith and became a people free from tyranny. Culture and art notwithstanding.

    • @admiralspire8867
      @admiralspire8867 4 роки тому +10

      It was.
      They used to skin people, eat them alive or dead, tear their heart out (most common form of sacrifice), gather sacrifices skulsl on massive walls for everyone to see.
      They killed slaves, POWs and prisoners at an industrial scale.
      Cortes did commit a massacre in Cholula. It's true.
      But the people of Cholula were preparing to ambush his men.
      The Aztecs were monsters hated by every civilizations around.

    Mr. Cortez was a hero weather people like it or not. He took the lives of people who murdered and butchered children and wives of people who lived in the area. The bloody sacrifices that took place fonally came to an end. People learned of Jesus and got freedom after converting. The people began to grow and multiply people built cities and had more medicine. Even thoigh some soldiers commited atrocities that doesn't acount for everyone. Things could have ended up better but it was his job and he was a hero. If you don't believe me just look up what the maya did then you'll listen to me.

    The phenomena of Aztec "human sacrifice" is misunderstood by most people nowadays; it was NOT seen as an atrocity by most of the indigenous people at the time: most of them thought it an "honour" and privilege to be selected for ritual sacrifice - their fresh hot blood would feed their gods and keep their gods satisfied. It disgusted the Spaniards because it was obviously unholy and unchristian. The Aztecs were disgusted by the Spaniards' burning of people - which they thought unholy in their religion.

    • @antonboris267
      @antonboris267 6 років тому +2

      Yes, yes. But in modern society, both ends are bad. But you see, the burning of people was used for a tatic, because in Spanish raids, the Spanish were vulnerable from Natives charging out of Houses, so Cortez burned the houses, which burned people.

    • @ThatSocratesguy
      @ThatSocratesguy 3 роки тому

      Good nuance.. I mean if modern day westerners think euthanasia is fine, then you lose ground to criticise self sacrifice to some god..

  • @artisaprimus6306
    @artisaprimus6306 Рік тому

    Hernan Cortes conquering the Aztecs is simply a question of superior weapons and tactics. Horse's, rifles, cannons and recruiting thousands of natives to overwhelm the Aztecs. The Aztec were incredibly advanced in some ways, but cruel and barbaric in others. No moral high ground here.
