I had nothing but German Shepherds for over 35 years. My first was a rescue someone had tried to put down because she was "untrainable." Thank God, the vet refused! I was her third owner and I adored her. I loved the breed and had at least two for over 25 years! I bred them, too. My neighbors at first were nervous seeing my 110 lb. Shepherds, but learned to love them. Even the delivery men loved them. They were big, lovable animals. I would even bring them to school to meet my students. They also saved me, protecting me more than once from dangerous men. They are a fantastic breed! I regret that I am now too old and disabled to give another Shepherd a loving home. I have a small breed dog now, which I love, but I’ll always miss my Shepherds! Please hug Max for me!
Hello Loveoldies50, I am so happy to hear your stories about these beautiful dogs. I have always wanted a German Shepard, but have never made the commitment. May I ask you about their health? Someone told me once that Shepards can have a lot of health issues. Has this been the case with you? Please give me any advice and information that you would be willing to share. Thank you so much.
Love, I totally agree with you. Your story is very similar to mine. I raised trained and bred Shepherds. loved every minute of it and they were so easily trained. It was like they already knew what to do, but the owner I got them from had gotten them from Germany, from dogs that were bred for working dogs in professional jobs like law enforcement or Military. Unfortunately, after a while she got lax on their care because she had so many and wound up with too many dogs, so the care of them went down hill. But, the few dogs I got were before all that happened. However, one of my dogs had Demodect mange(sp?)which is not good. But, the love of my life was the female that was personally mine, (two others belonged to my sons)and there could not have been a better dog existing. I miss her so much, and wish I could have made her more comfortable at the end. Shepherds, as I know them are such a wonderful dog. She was so sweet, I couldn't expect her to be truly protective, she loved everybody. And, she was so beautiful, and had this amazing tail that really set her off. She had the traditional markings of a German Shepherd. I really got lucky with her. Paperwork with her bloodlines were definitely impressive, but nothing could show her great temperament, and love she exhibited. She was so easy to train, and always wanted to do what I asked her to do. Like I said, I miss her so much!!!!

These dogs are underrated I had a two German shepherds and they were the absolute most toughest dog I have ever seen. The toughest one I ever owned was a white German Shepherd. A pitbull and XL Pitbull tried to pick a fight with my dog for no reason and my dog nearly killed it. Not only that they are very safe with children if properly trained due to their loyalty!
Some of my favorite dogs are German shepherd. At the moment I have two dogs. The older one is a pittie mix and my puppy which is between 3 and 6 months old is a German shepherd mix. She is going to be huge when she gets grown. They are both such sweet dogs and protective of me and our homebut very good with other people.

*Max* is a keeper, the friend is a friend, and the cynic in me genuinely wonders if she had anything to do with the break-in, come on what are the chances someone broke in on the same night she decided “nah not gonna do my friend a favour tonight”? Yes I am a cynical b*tch, but this has happened
@@LadyLeomonI agree with you. I am not typically a cynical.person. I was surprised that the story did not turn out that way. I am glad that Max and James are okay. 🦮♥️
@@skullton1121 why not? Seriously what are the odds she miraculously left the house right before sh*t went down? I’d sooner believe she was in on a planned home invasion given the odds of her dodging trouble at exactly the right time. The only way it could have been confirmed beyond all doubt is if she took the dog with her, you know the reason she was even in the house to begin with? So yeah, he should keep the dog and find a new house-sitter
Max is why I love German Shepherds - they are stout and brave, but great cuddle buddies. You can form deep relationships with them and don't have to worry about them turning on you. BTW, love the stone cottage!
Why on earth would someone who loves there dog so much go to a beautiful place like that without their dog? Sounds like the perfect place to bring the dog.
I read the transcript and I was just in shock but the dog is what brought me to tears because a dog that is so joyful to be so scared and shaken all of the sudden would raise some signals that something is wrong. Who ever tried anything was not willing to risk anything but to all you out there with dogs they would protect you at all costs because they consider you as part of their “pack” and they will do anything to protect their “pack” be safe out there y’all it is a cruel world we live in.
I have a shepherd also, her name is Karma. She Is very protective of me. She is my 6th shepherd. She is a house dog. I do t know what I would do without her.
I love this story, Max was only doing his job protecting their home & the fact that he & Emily found each other was awesome, perfect ending! Hope they ultimately found the perps! If anything, that’ll teach them to break into anyone else’s home!🙏❤️
I had something similar happen in my career. I was a law enforcement officer and responded to lots of burglary alarm calls at people's houses. One house I went to the door was unlocked and I went inside to check. Multiple zones that were going off from the alarm. When I was doing a sweep of the home I came across a dog that did not like me being there. He definitely showed his disapproval. He was growling at me and started towards me slowly. At that point I put my gun away and pulled out my mace. Hoping I didn't have to use it. I was able to back to the door and walk out before the dog bit me. It could have turned out badly for both of us. It was his house and I was the intruder. It just shows that homeowners should not use their alarm system if they have a dog running around the house. I have lots of interesting and scary stories like this.
German Shepherds will protect their owner or their homes with their lives. Max was lucky, a friend told me that her uncle, in his 60s was awakened by a his shepherd barking then his bark became a deep growl. He came out and being a hunter he was loading his rifle but his shepherd, Toby saw the man head for his owner Al who was so nervous he was too slow loading his rifle. Toby, seeing the attackers new target attacked the intruder. Toby lunged at the intruder and dug into one arm and did a lot of damage (we later found out) but he had never been trained as a defense dog so he didn't know how to protect himself and take the intruder down. The intruder pulled a knife with his free arm and stabbed Toby and then fled back through the sliding glass door. Al, took clean towels and applied pressure to the wound, wrapping a beach towel around the whole pad and pulled it tight. Al loaded Toby into his truck as he raced to the Emergency Vets but his beloved Toby had bled too much, they tried to transfuse blood and fluids, but the knife had gone to deep and despite the vet repacking the wound as they would a human and getting ready for surgery Toby's body started to relax and he looked at Al who had Toby's head resting in his arms and licked Al's face and Al kissed him and Toby died. Al was beyond grief, all he could feel was his guilt at being so nervous that he was too slow loading his rifle he blamed himself for Toby's death and he just stared at the sliding door that he later learned were too easy for thieves because the locking mechanism is just a latch. He just sat and stared at that sliding glass door with hatred until one day he took a crow bar and broke all the glass. His neighbor hearing the sound of breaking glass ran over and got Al to stop and Al told him I'm to blame. I usually put a piece of wood cut to the correct length and place it along the bottom slide so no one can open the door. I had a night cap while chatting with a friend on the phone and when I got up to go to bed I forgot to put the wood that stopped the door from sliding. His neighbor was puzzled. He'd been over many mornings for a cup of coffee and had seen the long piece of wood there every time. He helped clean up the broken glass, and picked up some plywood but it got him thinking. So he talked to the police after he got done at Al's. He explained and the police started asking around about someone who perhaps lived in the area. Al had some antique guns locked in a large iron safe which wasn't a secret in the neighborhood. So everyone concluded it had to be someone local who knew about the guns, and how Al locked the door. They must have checked regularly and they found a witness who said that someone used Al's yard as a shortcut to the woods and the homes scattered in them. The officer showed the woman and she identified one of the two men. They offered a reward for information and one of his running buddies angry that he killed a dog gave him up. His arm was a mess, he traveled over 50 miles into the next state and claimed they were camping and he was attacked by a wolf. The pumped him full of antibiotics and ran blood tests to be sure the "wolf" hadn't had rabies or another disease. He's in prison for a long list of crimes that added up to one too many. In our state breaking into a house at night and armed carries a hefty prison sentence. The Judge also added time for cruelty to an animal and after the prisoner was taken away Al and his support squad, as they called themselves, heard the judge call to Al and Al turned and the Judge said I have a dog that I love as much as you loved Toby and if this state recognized that animal's had rights I would have gotten him for murder of an animal while committing a felony. I apologize for the length, when you asked for stories Al's just needed to be told.
my German Shepard brought my little 2 year old grandson into be able to hold me and enjoy intimacy .. He battles Autism and had real avoidance issues. I got him a German Shepard mommy and that fixed it.... he still battles autism.. but love snuggling with me now and looking me in the eyes... German Shepards are the BEST DOGS EVER! Would go a day with out one and would love to have a few more!!!
I knew a friend's small Grea Dane, who grabbed her eighteen month old daughter the nap of her little dress and jumped through a window when the house caught fire. Sat that baby down away from the house and sat with her til mom got to her.
I have all kinds of dogs in my life. German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Labs, St, Bernard's, Blue Healers, Boxers, and mutts. The best guardian I ever had was when I was a kid. My cousins had come over to spend the night. 2 of us were sleeping on the floor, and my cousin Chuck had the bed.it was a hot summer night, so the windows were open. Chuck was the only one still awake when someone reached through the windows. Chuck reached down and smacked me to wake me up. When he did Putter, my Mini Dachshund , who was sleeping under my blankets with me, flew out from under my blankets to get whoever just hit me. As she lunged for Chuck, she stopped mid strike, seeing that Chuck wasn't the true threat. She saw the arm in the window, changed the direction of the attack, and nailed the arm. Whatever she had hit, there was blood all down the inside of the wall and alongside the house. Like in this video, the person was never caught, but Putter was treated with a steak almost as big as she was. There were a few other times Putter had my back, but this was the biggest one. That silly little dog thought she was a lion, and she convinced me. RIP Putter, you are greatly missed...
What ever happened while they were away the dog took care of! I'd be watchful for a while though they might be learking around in the darkness and who knows they might have been after the girl and got caught by the dog which is an uneasy feeling to think she was lucky she couldn't make it that last night!! Dog did what dogs do protect their home until master gets back! Great story..... 😊😊
My next dog is exactly a German shepherd. I've been wanting one a long time ago. These dogs are the most loyal of all dogs to their owners and training them is easy as they are very obedient.
I’ve always owned shepherds when my max passed away at 15. I knew I couldn’t deal with that hair anymore. I met a person online giving away a full blooded American Bulldog not a pit. I’ve had him since 6 months old he is now 9 and a huge couch potato. He would protect me with his life. I’d be afraid to break in my house he’s very mean looking but the biggest baby. I honestly don’t know what he would do to someone broke in if I wasn’t home. He might protect my Chihuahua mix although the little one is the barker. Just goes to show they are man’s best friend
Max was obviously a brave and wonderful dog! I never leave my dogs or animals! Too bad the guy didn’t take his dog to his mountain vacation with him. That was selfish!
Ditto, l would never leave my doggies alone. Even if Emily went round to feed him, give him water and take him for walks that still means max was probably left alone in the house for at least 20 hours !!!. No the least l would do if there was no way possible to take my doggy/doggies, l would put them in kennels happily knowing that they were safe and sound and monitored 24/7 ❤❤❤
First and foremost, MAX, you are a G.O.A.T.! Second, surveillance cameras do NOT prevent break-ins just as a vehicle horn does NOT stop others vehicles... they are ONLY for deterrence!
Why didn’t James take Max to the cabin in the mountains? Max coulda used the vacation too. We have a German shepherd, Doberman and a Golden Doodle. No way I’m leaving my dogs at home if we are going to a cabin.
He decides to go on vacation to a cabin in the woods but decides to NOT take MAX? He would make it up to him later? Was taking Max going to cramp his style? Prevent him from parting and picking up women? Prevent him from relaxing? A Cabin in the woods would have been a prefect vacation for him and Max. They could have offered each other emotional and physical support and safety. I could understand if he went somewhere dogs aren't welcome but in this instance leaving him behind makes no sense.
This was chilling story. I have a little small dog who would take action and I feel safe around her. She’s super sweet but if she knew that her family or me were in trouble she would protect. When I was a little kid we had the sweetest golden retriever and everyone was always like she’s so sweet and thought in my mind I know she sweet but if you were a creeper and was threatening her family she would have no hesitation to take immediate action to protect

poor thing must have been so startled and scared, Max definitely shld earn lifetime supply of toys, cuddles, kisses and treat such a loyal and protective dog . luckily max wasn't hurt
Great dog!!❤❤ Max obviously gave them a good fight for them not to take anything valuable. Ha, ha!! Hopefully the criminals learned there lesson.
You mentioned Max was rescued with his two siblings, HOPE his siblings were also adopted into loving homes 😇
You can only thank God for fighting with max.Thee angel has had come forth apon God words .The lesson to be learned hear max need to stay with love ones or a very responsible doggy care. And pray for the best.I am happy all turn out well.🎉❤
God tricked the men who wanted to do bad things. They thought the woman would be there, so God had her get to busy to go, and they met max instead lol
I had a blue german died 10 years old and also i have his friend who is also 10 now they grew up together i just love german shephards and i had many others
My husbands family raised German Shepards, his big male weighed 150#, which is about double the normal size, he was a huge dog!
That sounds like a very big Good Boi 😮😮😮
Sounds like a King Shepherd
Max is a superstar and also quite handsome.
She’s a keeper
*Max* is a keeper, the friend is a friend, and the cynic in me genuinely wonders if she had anything to do with the break-in, come on what are the chances someone broke in on the same night she decided “nah not gonna do my friend a favour tonight”? Yes I am a cynical b*tch, but this has happened
Thank God the intruders didn’t have weapons of any sort to hurt Max.
@@LadyLeomonI agree with you. I am not typically a cynical.person. I was surprised that the story did not turn out that way. I am glad that Max and James are okay.
🦮♥️
@@LadyLeomonthere’s no way you actually believe that
@@skullton1121 why not? Seriously what are the odds she miraculously left the house right before sh*t went down? I’d sooner believe she was in on a planned home invasion given the odds of her dodging trouble at exactly the right time. The only way it could have been confirmed beyond all doubt is if she took the dog with her, you know the reason she was even in the house to begin with?
So yeah, he should keep the dog and find a new house-sitter
Max is why I love German Shepherds - they are stout and brave, but great cuddle buddies. You can form deep relationships with them and don't have to worry about them turning on you. BTW, love the stone cottage!
Not taking your only dog to the mountains with you ? Sad 😮my dogs went everywhere I went all the time
Because they had a sign of no dogs
@@HumphreyAlphaandOmega really no dogs in the mountains ? I live in Colorado and dogs are welcome here in our mountains but whatever you say
Why on earth would someone who loves there dog so much go to a beautiful place like that without their dog? Sounds like the perfect place to bring the dog.
@tammy ? didn't You see the beginning? DOGS were NOT PERMITTED! I wish that James could have found a DOGS ALLOWED PLACE!
@@jtc1947Did you watch the video? He clearly said that he could've brought his dog!
@@everesthines2228 I Misunderstood something?? Thought sure that it was a place that didn't allow Him to bring His dog? Maybe I misheard??
Well done, max❤❤❤❤
I read the transcript and I was just in shock but the dog is what brought me to tears because a dog that is so joyful to be so scared and shaken all of the sudden would raise some signals that something is wrong. Who ever tried anything was not willing to risk anything but to all you out there with dogs they would protect you at all costs because they consider you as part of their “pack” and they will do anything to protect their “pack” be safe out there y’all it is a cruel world we live in.
The dog was a good warrior
We have animals in our world but if you are their guardian, you are their world.
5:30 Story starts..
I have a shepherd also, her name is Karma. She
Is very protective of me. She is my 6th shepherd. She is a house dog. I do t know what I would do without her.
Good boy ❤
I had a wonderful german shepherd😊
He protected ne from my husband 😮
We deceided to devorce him😂😂😂
Best thing ever in my life 😂😂😂😂
Why the crying laughing emojis??????
Great dog and a great story!
Max was protecting his home and you can’t blame the dog in way that would help identify the person or persons involved in the crime
I have Rottweilers instead of an alarm system.
Max gave them a run for their no money 😂👊
Bro spent 14 minutes of this video explaining the owners entire life story 😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏🙏
Too long but love the dog!!
Max did his job, he said, I'm protecting my home. I've owned three German Shepherds and their wonderful dogs. ❤😊
This was a nice story.😊
Hi
I believe they are the most amazing dog breed!! Absolutely love them, and feel safe with them. ❤️
Max is a good doggy! He is very brave to attack intruders like that! I’m so glad he was okay in the end!
When you are tasked to care for someone s pet while they are away you do not miss a day….
I'm glad this story had a happy ending. ❤❤❤
Great dog & you but Emily is your hero to
GOOD BOY MAX!!!❤️
Can't imagine life without a shep or 2 or ....
my German Shepard brought my little 2 year old grandson into be able to hold me and enjoy intimacy .. He battles Autism and had real avoidance issues. I got him a German Shepard mommy and that fixed it.... he still battles autism.. but love snuggling with me now and looking me in the eyes... German Shepards are the BEST DOGS EVER! Would go a day with out one and would love to have a few more!!!
good boy Max
German shepherds are beautiful amazing animals
I knew a friend's small Grea Dane, who grabbed her eighteen month old daughter the nap of her little dress and jumped through a window when the house caught fire. Sat that baby down away from the house and sat with her til mom got to her.
that Great Dane is AMAZING
That’s crazy! If this is true, then that Grea Dane is a life saver.
All dogs go to heaven. Thanks for this story.
RIP Putter,
you are greatly missed...
Dachshunds are insanely brave. They were bred to attack badgers in their lairs.
@serahloeffelroberts9901 yes they were. Fearless little buggers!
Well done max your awesome ❤❤❤
My next dog is exactly a German shepherd. I've been wanting one a long time ago.
These dogs are the most loyal of all dogs to their owners and training them is easy as they are very obedient.
Emily is really a nice person. I am glad Max didn't get hurt. I would change the locks and use double dead bolt locks
Awe, such a good wholesome story in the end. ❤
If I had children there us NO other breed of dog I would trust more than a German Shepherd to guard them 🐾🐾🐕🦺🥰
All dogs go to heaven.
I’m getting ready to get another dog. A German shepherd to be exact.
First and foremost, MAX, you are a G.O.A.T.! Second, surveillance cameras do NOT prevent break-ins just as a vehicle horn does NOT stop others vehicles... they are ONLY for deterrence!
I just got a huge puppy (mom was a hound dad was a retriever) and I hope she’s like that when she’s older
Why didn’t James take Max to the cabin in the mountains? Max coulda used the vacation too. We have a German shepherd, Doberman and a Golden Doodle. No way I’m leaving my dogs at home if we are going to a cabin.
All the places he looked at wouldn't take pets.
@@kenlutter2065But they take people's money , don't they ? Some people are such nasty scumbags. 💩
Really
Exactly what I thought. Poor Maxx
Did y’all not hear the places he liked didn’t allow dogs how tf y’all miss that you want him to bring the dog and get kicked out
Max was just protecting his home
He decides to go on vacation to a cabin in the woods but decides to NOT take MAX? He would make it up to him later? Was taking Max going to cramp his style? Prevent him from parting and picking up women? Prevent him from relaxing? A Cabin in the woods would have been a prefect vacation for him and Max. They could have offered each other emotional and physical support and safety. I could understand if he went somewhere dogs aren't welcome but in this instance leaving him behind makes no sense.
I have a German shepherd chihuahua mix named Crowley, he is my trained service dog and protects me everytime I leave the house with him
I might cry 😭
This was chilling story. I have a little small dog who would take action and I feel safe around her. She’s super sweet but if she knew that her family or me were in trouble she would protect. When I was a little kid we had the sweetest golden retriever and everyone was always like she’s so sweet and thought in my mind I know she sweet but if you were a creeper and was threatening her family she would have no hesitation to take immediate action to protect
Shepards rule the dog world
Good boy Max! ❤❤❤
My sister adopted her frome the shelter my sister had cancer that took her life before she got the dog so i got her and kept her
Beautiful Animal The Best Dogs Totally Loyal
This drags on longer than needed.
That's a good boy
