Totally agree. At one point my watch battery died and I still wore it when going out. It's an accessory. Another observation was that whenever I needed to check the time, I would either check my phone or ask Alexa. Despite me wearing a watch all the time.
100 percent an accessory and like a car for an example a fiat Can get you to your destination like a Mercedes but the driving experience of a merc is far superior like watches but i fhink what watches do is give you memories i have an oris aquis I've taken on every family holiday for the past 3 years and i will continue this. My next watch will mark the birth of my second son in the coming weeks and it will be handled down to him when he's older. I have a watch my mother got me for my 21st birthday i still wear it and love it almost 18 years later and it reminds me of her.Keepsakes and one day when I'm no longer here memory's for both my sons.
I agree that clothes, wardrobe, jewelry, including watches, automobiles\cars, aviation, yachts both motor and sailing, real estate which houses but encompasses much more then just housing, which shows your lifestyle as well as wealth and individual taste in style. But I think after all that function is important as well depending what you are talking about. But your point is well made about telling time not bring the main point especially for this type if accessory. Also the practical aspect of how much money or resources are needed to this type of accessory compared to its function is a status statement as well.
To play devil's advocate, just because one doesn’t need a watch, does that mean its purpose isn’t to tell time? Wearing a watch offers the convenience of glancing at my wrist instead of digging my phone out of my pocket. Additionally, I find a wristwatch more practical and professional than checking my phone at work. Could I wear a cheaper watch? Yes, but does that mean its purpose isn’t to tell time? For example, I own lots of pens. Could I carry around a cheap BIC pen or no pen at all instead of an expensive one? Of course. But the cheaper BIC pen doesn’t provide the same reliability, looks, ergonomics, writing characteristics, and joy of using it. However, does that mean because I could get by with a cheap pen or no pen at all that the pen isn’t for writing with? I don’t need a watch, and I certainly don’t need a luxury watch. However, does that mean my watch’s primary role isn’t to tell time and make my life more convenient?
you are doing very good job, just keep on!

You only pay for the watch movement and the watch case is design to protect the watch movement. That's what a watch is.
Completely agree, people like to enjoy the things that appeal to their sense of taste. Chicken cordon bleu is more interesting than boiled chicken.

Watcees are jewlery, AND reminder for some succes, or a dear person, or something that makes you good when you look at it
yes, watches are also a status symbol, not for me, but for many!
yes, they are also a statements, and also a proof of knowledge, and in my case: of taste
