Crazy. 9/11 is what prompted me to go buy a Noble Quran & begin to research Islam as well. It was President Bush telling us it's a religion of peace that sealed my resolve to learn the truth for myself. I ended up going down a 2.5 year rabbit hole reading the Quran, Sira, Hadith & even Reliance of the Traveller. You should search for Robert Spencer. His critiques of the history and authenticity of Islam are the best I have heard. I lived in Oman and could have been easily led to think Islam could be peaceful, however the Omanis also fear the Wahabi Saudi Islamists because they see that the Omani's who control the messages in their Mosques are not the norm. When it comes to religious and spiritual beliefs and practices it's sincerely, honesty and intelligence all coupled with humility is important. Bravery has nothing to do with it.Some gentleman had commented that the reason why christians convert to Islam is that many of them do not go to church and that they don't know the basic tenents of the Bible and that many of them don't even read Bible. The truth is exactly the opposite. The above are the reasons why they remain christians. Those who take their religion seriously are the ones who revert to Islam. Why would anyone who never watches any movie be concerned about who directed which movie and who are the lead actors.

He has written many best selling books on this topic. All are packed with direct references to the islamic scripture/scholars. The only warning I would give you is that the more you read, the worse this cult becomes. Much worse.

I have read the Quran. It sounded more like the imagination of a 6th-century warlord who wanted to control the masses for his political ambitions. A lot of the verses, especially the ones in surah Al Nissa, sound abhorrent when observed from a modern perspective. It is not hate. It is the fear that this ideology may engulf the whole world, consequently pushing it into an era of darkness. In today's world, no other religion has as much political dominance as Islam. I think Mohammed was a traumatized orphan boy who grew up traveling as a merchant help to his uncle. This life experiences gave him exposure to Judizim, Christianity, Hinduism, and Zoroasterism. He took ideas from all of these different faiths. Like washing before prayers from Hindus, Praying multiple times facing Jerusalem from the Jews, the story of Jesus and the gospels from Christians, Huris from Zoroasters and more. I think he suffered psychological problems and he frequently went to caves to isolate himself. As for the angle Gabriel, either he made it up or he encounter the devil in disguise. I am a former Muslim living in a western country. Once a westerner converted to Islam and it was a big fanfare at that time amongst the Muslims. A few years later he said goodbye to his new religion. Thankfully for him he didn’t live in an Islamic country. So, I guess, he was not subjected to death penalty.

I lost my case in the first court, but won it on appeal. It didn't matter! After my case, the media in my country literally went silent on this subject. My articles were heavily censored from then on, so I couldn't accept that and retired from journalism completely. I was muzzled and the subject died a natural death because no other journalist had the courage to tackle the subject. I listen today to Robert Spencer and it was a vindication of sorts. Almost 30 years later, I know I had been right all along! But it's a tragedy of our times that the west is too afraid to speak the truth about Islam as it truly is.

When it comes to religious and spiritual beliefs and practices it's sincerely, honesty and intelligence all coupled with humility is important. Bravery has nothing to do with it.Some gentleman had commented that the reason why christians convert to Islam is that many of them do not go to church and that they don't know the basic tenents of the Bible and that many of them don't even read Bible.
The truth is exactly the opposite. The above are the reasons why they remain christians. Those who take their religion seriously are the ones who revert to Islam. Why would anyone who never watches any movie be concerned about who directed which movie and who are the lead actors.
I grew up in an African country and when we learned the history of religions, we were told the truth; that Islam was spread by the sword so I was confused as a grown up to hear the western leaders saying that Islam was a religion of peace. I guess the history changed somewhere along the way.

I have a Muslim friend who says Islam is a religion of peace. At the same time he would not condemn the killing of the artist who drew a cartoon of Muhammad. Those who say differently, like Professor Spencer, are evil deceivers. I have read the Quran. It sounded more like the imagination of a 6th-century warlord who wanted to control the masses for his political ambitions. A lot of the verses, especially the ones in surah Al Nissa, sound abhorrent when observed from a modern perspective. It is not hate. It is the fear that this ideology may engulf the whole world, consequently pushing it into an era of darkness. In today's world, no other religion has as much political dominance as Islam. I think Mohammed was a traumatized orphan boy who grew up traveling as a merchant help to his uncle. This life experiences gave him exposure to Judizim, Christianity, Hinduism, and Zoroasterism. He took ideas from all of these different faiths. Like washing before prayers from Hindus, Praying multiple times facing Jerusalem from the Jews, the story of Jesus and the gospels from Christians, Huris from Zoroasters and more. I think he suffered psychological problems and he frequently went to caves to isolate himself. As for the angle Gabriel, either he made it up or he encounter the devil in disguise. Regardless, it is so sad to think about the billions of people that will be going to hell because him. I am a former Muslim living in a western country. Once a westerner converted to Islam and it was a big fanfare at that time amongst the Muslims. A few years later he said goodbye to his new religion. Thankfully for him he didn’t live in an Islamic country. So, I guess, he was not subjected to death penalty.

I wrote about this exact subject with the same details back in the mid-to-late 1990s. I was a political columnist/journalist, but my writings in newspapers took my work to the broadcast media where I was invited to discuss this topic. It ended very badly for me. The Arab diplomatic community literally ganged up on me. I ended up charged in a criminal court for incitement to racial hatred, the first journalist in my country for this to happen to. As it turned out, it was Arabs who had married into my country and become citizens who supposedly reported me to the police (but, of course, it came from higher up). I lost my case in the first court, but won it on appeal. It didn't matter! After my case, the media in my country literally went silent on this subject. My articles were heavily censored from then on, so I couldn't accept that and retired from journalism completely. I was muzzled and the subject died a natural death because no other journalist had the courage to tackle the subject. I listen today to Robert Spencer and it was a vindication of sorts. Almost 30 years later, I know I had been right all along! But it's a tragedy of our times that the west is too afraid to speak the truth about Islam as it truly is.

I’ve read Quran only once, when my friend has forgotten a book he just bought at my place. hetook it back the next day, but meanwhile I had the chance to read it. it was a speedy reading, so I can’t claim any in-depth knowledge of it, but I remember the impression I’ve got from it: evil without any true meaning, any wisdom to learn which wasn’t already conveyed by Torah and Bible.
all that was inherent to Quran itself, all that was added by this third book was simply an evil. evil and stupidity. it was sickening. I’ve read a lot of books in my life, but none of them was so full of meaningless, irrational, beasty hatred.
I can only compare this impression to the feeling whichthe characters of Tolkien have felt when they were reading “the writings of Mordor”.
