as a Bringus studio enjoyer myself i enjoy random people installing random things on goofy things and somehow by watching this I learn from these videos like the mistakes and how other things with firmware hardware also I subscribe to you brother.
Ahh, another Bringus Studio's enjoyer. I don't know why I love watching people install some unusual software on an unusual device and maybe little bit tinkering with it and gaming on it. LOL. Keep up the good work! This is a nice video.
Thank you! I've got a really cursed one cooked up for the future. A friend sent me a meme containing a cursed thing running Linux and I just knew it needed to run SteamOS
this was pretty cool. i have some critique though - the overall filming quality could be better. maybe try keeping the lights on? idk how much you can really mitigate poor camera quality besides just getting better gear which isnt always possible. same goes with capturing video off of the surface - itd be cool if you used a capture card or filmed both the screen and the footage with obs since thats kinda what bringus did too as a backup iirc. secondly, the order of the video is kinda weird since once you did the windows benchmarks it kinda doesnt make much sense to see linux benchmarks afterwards, feels a little too scripted. might be better to show them at the end. i guess next time you could try more live, unscripted stuff like the linux installation attempts and maybe even like most of the video if its possible. lastly, the face cam thing is kinda awkward when you arent looking directly at the camera and there doesnt really seem to be much in terms of expression. maybe try using more body language? could also add more editing to those parts to add onto what youre saying and such. like ive said, this is really cool. wish there was more content in the odd niche that bringus sorta popularized. i usually dont actually go out and comment on stuff but with youtube throwing random channels with low views/subs in my recommended and me sometimes watching those videos i kinda felt like doing it for once. sorry if i sounded harsh, this is kinda my opinion in terms of the critiques. wish you luck with wherever you take your channel and life i guess
Thank you so much for the feedback. Constructive criticism is and always will be welcome on this channel and I greatly appreciate it. I 100% agree with you on the video quality. I do think that it's because of the lack of light as my videos usually have much better fidelity, so I'm going to attempt that first and play around with that for my future recordings to see if that improves it. Thankfully I've got a pretty stable income, so worst case scenario I'm more than okay purchasing a second-hand DSLR because the crunchy video quality bothers me greatly. In terms of your second point, looking back the order is somewhat weird. This video ended up taking me much much longer than anticipated, and a lot of the footage was recorded out of order from what was seen in the video, but for the most part its pretty chronological. I guess it made sense in my head and from the perspective of the script (more on that in a second), but trying to put myself in the viewer's perspective I can definitely see what you're talking about. However, my idea with the Windows benchmarks and then the Linux benchmarks was due to the fact that it had Windows pre-installed and I also wanted to potentially show off Linux doing better in games. Unfortunately, it did not turn out as I had expected so it ended up doing worse. I did have footage for the Linux installation attempts. The attempts were also spread out across a couple of weeks, and in the install attempts a lot of it was just waiting on my end, but I can definitely try and make it more of an 'interactive' experience if that makes sense? Like how Jon will kind of talk about what he's doing while he's doing it. And to your third point, and this comes back towards the script, I do naturally tend to 'talk a lot with my hands' as people put it colloquially. But when I'm reading the script, I'm more focused on the words on the page and how I'm saying things which causes me to not move my hands about. I've been going back and forth between scripted and unscripted content, and I think my solution lies somewhere in the middle. If I'm too scripted, as you mention I'm just staring towards the camera more or less. If I'm not, it takes ages to edit because I'm having to clip out gaps of silence, bad takes, and things of that nature. For this next video, I'm going to try a hybrid approach that other UA-camrs have found success with in the past when it comes to recording, so hopefully things won't be as static. I think I touched on all the points. Again, I truly appreciate your comment. I know it can be daunting in some instances, I very rarely comment on videos myself just because sometimes I fear a negative response or backlash, but in the end the intent usually shines through and I can tell you just want to see me improve as a creator. I hope you stick along for the ride. Next video may not be as hardware oriented as this one was, mainly because I'm still doing some experimentation early on here in my career, but I'm always trying to improve on the quality especially when I've got plans and ideas on how to do that going forward.
I think you have issues with games because dxvk usually takes up more vram than normal dx11, and because the intel drivers for 6th gen don't support vulkan 1.3
That makes a lot of sense. I probably didn't have a lot of VRAM to work with anyways. Would that also explain the weird issue I was having with OBS on the Windows side of things where the recording just wasn't going for some games?
@@byte_wise with the game recording/OBS thing i don’t know but something tells me the low power U-series intel chips just have terrible encoders, my laptop from 2023 has a 13th gen i5 (1335U) and it struggled about the same when recording most games in windows no matter what software/preset/settings i used
I might have to give Bazzite a try. I was just trying to dodge a true copycat experience for this one 😉 that and I already knew Ubuntu would work. I might do a follow up short here if I can get Bazzite to work
@@mimichi_xox 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ YOU'RE RIGHT I DID MEAN WINDOWS VISTA. I gotta apologize to Windows XP now. But yeah we hate Vista, that was my first and worst experience with any of the Windows versions
A really good mask. The default ones that usually come in that medical blue color have the metal bit by the nose, but it's not very good at keeping the glasses from fogging. Thankfully it didn't require much trial and error to find a good one that I could also be heard through
I'm assuming Proton is what was making the performance so bad, I think if you stick to native linux programs, it would perform better than windows by far. I have an old school chromebook that ran horribly on chrome os and horribly on windows. But once i put debian on it and started running native linux applications it ran perfect for what I needed it for!
I might actually give this a try because I have a handful of games in my library that have native Linux builds and I have a second Surface that should still have its copy of Windows. Maybe I'll do a follow up short or video. Thank you for this though!
Windows is horrible on tablet. On linux, I like more gnome just for multitasking. To use more like as tablet kde mobile can be another choice (feels more like as android). I use both, but I prefere to log in and log out to change the desktop because why not.
I totally forgot about KDE Mobile! I know Ubuntu has something similar, Ubuntu Touch I think it's called, but yeah those would be a really solid experience on this guy with the touchscreen support. I might take a look into those as options on this

The pandemic is over? That's news to me. I would love to see a citation from a credible epidemiologist-I'm going to predict that you don't have one, and you pulled the claim out of your ass because our government has decided to stick their necks in the sand as it's citizens contract an infection which causes dysregulation and long-term damage in the immune system and organs. I wonder where the drastic waves of pneumonia this winter came from? Probably nothing, right?🙃 It's fuckin hilarious when randos on the internet are suddenly experts in virology and epidemiology

I wish your video gets millions of views because you have great content. Try running ads for your channel using some kind of system.
Thank you! A couple more videos like this and we'll be a UA-cam Partner in no time 🦾
Awesome video, unfortunately you didn't remove the PC from the case and try to attach a 650w power supply, so -3 Bringus points
If I brute force the BIOS password will I gain those points back? I can also trim some of the case for "better air flow"
