I think it is interesting how our tastes change as we age and grow as musicians. The music that draws me today is very different from the music that drew me as a youngster. Along with that taste in music, my taste in gear has changed in pursuit of the tones that are in the music that I currently love. My 50 y.o. body has weighed in on my gear selection, as well. Banker custom guitars is a killer boutique guitar company. Marcus king, Brent hinds, Charlie star, Paul Jackson, benji shanks all play his stuff. And he is the only boutique guy to get the right to use Gibson headstock shapes
I heard a story once from somebody who toured with Dwight Yoakam. I guess he could be a bit difficult to work with, and he had a walk-in closet on his tour bus just for his cowboy hats (which some people might have resented). When Dwight upset the other members of the band, they would sneak into his hat closet and rub their junk in whatever cowboy hat he was planning to wear on stage that night. As they played under the hot stage lights, sweat would drip down Dwight's forehead and face. The band would point this out to each other and have a good laugh, breaking whatever tension might have been building up.
Went to see Dwight and Suzy Boguss opened. 11th row. Suzy's set was awesome and the sound was perfect. Don't know what happened but Dwight's sound folks turned them up to 12! So loud it actually hurt and folks were repelled. He seemed pissed that folks weren't in to it but come on. Anyway you guys crack me up.

Here's a question for you guys - I feel like our 'heroes' were often associated with ONE guitar. Hendrix and a Strat, Neil Young with "Old Black", Clapton and 'Blackie', Page and his Les Paul - when did this change? Because I feel like everyone has a wider pallet now.
Counter-point: Hendrix played an SG, and a Flying V, and recorded with a Telecaster. Neil Young is more associated with Martin acoustics than any electric. Clapton very famously developed his sound and launched the entire blues rock movement with a Les Paul. Jimmy Page also very famously played a telecaster.
And don’t forget The Firebird 1 for Eric in Cream! Man, I’m GAS’n for one of those! (I think Gibson may have even done a limited run of custom shop “Eric Clapton Firebird 1’s in the last few years sometime)

Roger Sadowsky in New York would qualify as 'boutique', I guess? In 1992 I bought his Electric Nylon & NYC S Style HSH. They are lovely instruments altho almost doubled in price since then. Worth checking out - he's actually better known for his bass guitars but if Walter Becker & Prince were happy for him to make them guitars then fine by me!
Knaggs was production managing with PRS and involved in the S2 line which is of insane quality… His own guitars are more bling than PRS but, to me, in a less garish way. Prices are way steep. Maybe second hand would be smart, but you’d still have to keep it very clean to preserve max resale, like PRS so that’s a choice you’d make to preserve it like a beautiful object or else just really play it.

Could you go ahead and get to 50k so I can get my SS? I have the guitar hanger already mounted on my wall… 😁 keep up the great work guys I can’t wait to come to your shop some day and shoot the sh!+ with you all. 🤙
Thanks a bunch and we’re trying!!! All the best.
So Nash, John Cruz, etc. steals Fender IP but they’re boutique and it’s okay? If your going to complain about one company then it should be all companies.
They only complain about what they don't sell. Period. Fancy another Asian made PRS strat copy video?
Morning cappy. Don’t worry we’ve had plenty of other videos where we did jump on some of these guys. And don’t even get me started on the silver sky when that came out…
Thanks a bunch for your thoughts and we sincerely appreciate them!
@@backandfour not true unfortunately, boy oh boy have we gotten in trouble with Fender and PRS for some of our past videos…check out the one on the propaganda machine…we got a few phone calls on that one from the big boys in the big chairs:)
Regardless, thank you for joining and sharing your thoughts!
Joe Glazer does work for many players in Nashville.
I like the way you talk
Sling blade ref
What about the guys who play ghost built guitars with the big company names on them?
Smart! That’s a whole other conversation and a good one!
