Thank you for the instruction on proper application of the pipe tape. I did not put on nearly enough and I didn't know the tape should be applied in a certain way. I should have looked on UA-cam before I began the task.
Do you start with the open end and work your way back? I was thinking this would make a tighter fit as you turn the nut in the direction the tap was wound
Thank you for teaching how to use Teflon Tape the correct way I was panic on how to apply on it because my tap water just spoiled few hours ago and by tomorrow I going to purchase a new one! Thanks for teaching
Funny. I just watched about 4 of these "how to" videos for Teflon tape and every one if them was a British guy. Does no one use this stuff in the U.S.? 😀
After 40 years as an instrument tech in the oil and gas industry all around the world, the US uses PTFE the same as anywhere else, it should only be used on taper thread forms such as NPT or BSPT
Yes it will still turn but it'll be tight so you need a spanner. Watch the end of the video where I show how it is tightened up. Good luck and thanks for watching!
wtf... only 8 turns @1:31 ? i did 12 turns on the basement pipes and now half of them are leaking lmao... so maybe 15 turns is even better for water heater pipes?
"Clockwise direction". In the US you actually have to turn it in the opposite direction because we drive on the right hand side (opposite side)of the road.
Why is it no one ever shows you how to do this when you don't have clean access to the thread you're putting the tape on. Anyone can do it with the whole unit in your hand - it's harder upside down in a cupboard where these jobs usually have to be done.
@@tpsin713 First - depends on the tape thickness (usualy 0,1 to 0,25mm). Second depends on the thread clearances from the factory. Sometimes 3 is enough, sometimes 10 wont be enogh. I guess licensing in US is not that hard...

Thanks! unbelievable, how in now days there is a video for almost everything.
I try!!
Indeed!!!!!
How do you find starting point for the tape?

Really good advice on the proper way to use PTFE tape. The secret seems to be to apply it in an anti clockwise direction and to use plenty of it.
Mission complete, liked and subd👍👍👍
Thanks for the sub.

Cheers Pouse. Useful tips as always.
Thanks for the feedback and thanks again for watching!
Thanks!
Best one I’ve seen. 👍
Appreciate that
Can you use on oil pressure monitor seals in an engine? It has it own gaskets but also threads in
Don't think it's designed for that. The oil might break down the material. Thanks for watching.

I have no idea, I live in Wales, UK! Hope you found what you were looking for. Thanks for watching!
Yes, we use it in New Zealand.
Haha I did the same thing!

Greetings!Would the thread still be rotatable?Would i be able to spin it?

Hey, is there a bad thing to use teflon tape at rubber? Or why i dont need to use teflon tape at rubber, i dont get it?
Teflon tape is used on metal threads generally where metal meets metal.
wtf... only 8 turns @1:31 ?

0.075mm, 0.1mm or 0.2mm? PTFE comes in various thicknesses.
8 turns is too much isn't it? 😅
So helpful! Thank you!!
Glad it was helpful!

Oh right.......thanks for watching.
Your thinking of water rotation down the shitter
But Callisto turns counter clockwise around Jupiter so i would turn the tape clockwise?
I’m sure you wind it clockwise
Had no idea it needed so many wraps
Yes, belt and braces every time!
Good info
12 turns!
If it makes you feel better. Thanks for watching! 👍

OMG! How is it that this guy never blinks???
Clever editing! I can assure you I do blink in real life. Thanks for watching.
eponymousIme Why are you checking if he is blinking in the first place..
The music it way too loud, learn about the audio chain.
Old video, hopefully I've improved it a bit since then! Thanks for the feedback.
2 turns is enough , 5 is tooooo much.
I disagree sorry. Thanks for watching.
2 turns of the tape? You clearly dont use it much lmao
@@strider5119 8 turns is over kill. I am a licensed pumper in Texas!!

8 turns with ptfe????? At least 20...... Who the ... Show me video of testing this joint when CH running..
I don't film my central heating running, probably not a very entertaining video, however I can confirm 8 turns does the trick! Thanks for watching.
@@POUSEaroundtheHOUSE than u have to explain why.
@@POUSEaroundtheHOUSE 🤣
This is completely wrong , ignore the clown, if you want a ptfe joint to remain water tight you need at least 20 wraps
