  • Now that the new car shop is on the layout, I get on to the concrete paint and weathering. I try to hold my phone and various tools at the same time while describing my scenic techniques.

      I actually have a nice mini tripod and a regular tripod adapter for my phone but I always forget about them. In a weird way this is sort of fun to film like this, just hope I didn’t make anyone dizzy!

    I think it really looks more realistic with the pad extended and the service road. I appreciate the demonstration Norm. The weathering is sinking the project into the surrounding area. Excellent work Norm.

    Those tips are really good and making me rethink of my road for my back side for the industrial area of my layout. Also if it's ok to ask what different scenery grass u add to the layout bc I'm thinking of adding small bits of sawdust to areas of my fine grass that I layed on my layout to add dead areas. Just gives it more realism I guess.

      I use a lot of sifted backyard dirt mixed up with Scenic Express Adirondack blend for the greener areas, dirt and cinders for the RR areas.

    • @normstrains

      It was Vallejo engine acrylic, petrol spills. AK makes similar stuff in enamel.

    Very nice Norm. What's the paint mix you are using in the airbrush?

    • @normstrains
      @normstrains  3 роки тому +1

      I used Vallejo acrylic Engine Oil and ModelersDP Grimy Black straight out of their bottles @ 25psi. These colors are bit experimental for me as I prepare to find alternatives to the fast disappearing Model Masters acrylics.

      @@PriestBrosLines I've been using that for years. I even use it as a base coat for rocks. Latex and acrylic washes over it can change its general tone to cover a lot of different surface colors.
