Hello, I was in authorized service center today. My issue was grounding cable on 2007 Q7. Battery, starter and other things were already replaced in my car by the previous owner, but the issue remained. The fix was cheap and effective.
I currently have the same issue after supercharging my bmw m6. I've changed the coolant temp sensor + crankshaft sensor + battery, problem still exists. I will now look at changing the starter motor. Thanks for the vide, loved it!

After watching your video i am quite confident 👌👍 will get the starter motor and see from there. I will inform you 🙏
I had an A3 2.0 TDI with the same problem and the changed the starter motor and the battery and it didn't make a difference. I did a trick to make it sort of start faster from hot by spinning the starter motor once then doing it again and it would fire right up. I later found out that the ECU didn't inject fuel into the cylinders from hot like it did from cold so had the ECU remapped to inject fuel into the cylinders when hot and it solved it. I heard many horrors about the BKD engine but i didn't have a single problem with mine.
Very informative video! Thumbs up man I ve been suffering from this problem for more than 2 months now.&it's driving me crazy. . As u did -and before watching your video- I changed the battery and the sensor. .but still doesn't start when hot. I guess I will check with the starter. . Thanks
I have the same problem with my audi a3 2.0 tdi Thanks to your video I disconnected the temp sensor and the car startet first turn. Now I am going to replace the sensor to see if that was the problem. Thanks again
2:30 temp gauge shows 90°C when real temperature is 75-110°C, that's why diagnostics shows other temp (diagnostics temp is the real temp read by coolant sensor)
Sounds to me that you should check / replace the ground cable connecting the motor and the chassis. Bad connection in that cable will make the starter weak and affect the battery charge. Often you can measure the voltage plus on the generator and ground some where with a good connection on the engine (be careful , rotating parts) and compare that to what you measure on the battery plus and minus. It should be pretty much the same voltage. If not then you probably have a bad ground connection from the engine block to the chassis.
great vid nuno thankyou for this its helped me diagnose much easier. 1 question did you have to clear the engine management light or did it go out on its own?
Same issue with a VW Golf 5 1.9TDI, took off the starter and gave it for repair. Hopefully they will fix it today, so that I may put it on my car after work and see if the issue has been fixed.
@@abdulsalamarakkal6724 Yep, no issues since then. Costed about $30. Keep in mind that it might also be the timing belt, that needs changing or at least adjustment :) .

Check your diesel hoses on engine som time they can get damaged and the air come inside the system, in this situation it will be difficult to start the engine.
I have the opposite problem, when its starting from cold it takes a huge effort for the starter to start the car but as long as I have turned it on it will start just fine. Injectors maybe? I don't have any fault codes.. Though I did look around in live data and saw the injection start from cold was 0.6° v.OT when it should be between 4° v.OT to 2° n.OT
Is yours a common rail or PD engine? I have a 2.0 TDI CR170 with the same issue, it's intermittent tho and doesn't always do it when warm! Normally it starts fine from cold. Not sure what to try first!

Hi. Thanks for the comment. Well this did help lots of people. So far the car goes great and starts fine. Almost one year and still starts like on the video. Very sorry didn't help u out. But if i will find new solution i will post it 😉
The solution comes from the engine ecu. The Injection quantities in this engines WHEN they are hot it's too little. The solutions is a simply remap. Trust me, it will solve 99.9% of hot start problems. Fixing the battery or starter will logically improve a little because the cranking it's a bitter faster. But will not solve! Simply Changing the ecu map for a automatic gearbox engine map will solve this because de auto gearboxs models have a little more IQ in the main ecu map at hot temperatures.
