Loved half life in 1998, felt absolutely in love with CS in 1999. Barely any game ever was so good. The LAN parties back then were so cool. I miss the offline time.

The kids of today don't know what they are missing. I started playing at the end of 1.3 into 1.4 and it was some of the best times of my life! Lugging my monster 2001 Alienware area 51 PC to LAN parties is something I miss!
In my country so called "Internet Cafes" were very popular at that time - access to high bandwidth internet was very expensive. It was a place with tens of computers, all connected to LAN, where you could play in pay-per-hour fashion. We used to spent every Friday/Saturday night in such caffe, with beverages, food, alcohol and a lot of playing fun. LAN parties without your own computer and connection.
I started in 2003 when I was 11 years old. I can’t believe it’s been 20 years. I am 31 years old now and watching this video brings back the best childhood memories! The sounds of the rifles, breaking the vents on CS_ASSAULT! the local lan gatherings we use to have! Would love to go back to those days. 1.6 will forever be my game
Same, I was around 8 and our buddy owned a PC/lan center we'd chill there all day, the things i remember the most is when you joined a server and you could hear all the shooting and voice lines in the background.

It started out as master piece, already. It’s insane, that if you were to fire up cs 1.6 now. The gaming experience would still be at the top of all experiences out there. Absolute MASTER piece.
From a gritty militaristic atmosphere, to a gradually more cartoony aesthetic. CS2 / CSGO are great entries in the series, but damn do I miss the aesthetics of the earlier counter strikes.
The graphics were gritty but the tone of the game was never serious militarism to me. The digital sound effects on various menus, the "need to buy weapon" design (especially funny if you are CT, think about it), the grafitti of dev and map makers scattered in corners of maps, all made me treat it as a "Game!" game, which is so different from games with serious settings such as Delta Force series around the same time. The game being born around y2k (and before 9/11) has also put on a layer of techno-optimism upon it, fast internet, LAN parties, iPod, a new millennium with so many possibilities...Man it was good times, it was too good.
Kind of sort of apples to oranges, but for myself this is actually why I couldnt make the jump from tfc to Tf2. I'm in the extreme minority here, but I've never liked the change in art direction that series took
Cs2 is not a great entry in the series. Even if its just because it replaced csgo. This alone makes it a stinky piece of shit mess. It feels morally wrong. Not to mention that it's a straight downgrade
We are that generation that maintained our peak at cs 1.6 and this will forever be best CS ever for us. Everything else is based on that one, which makes itself the best CS game ever released. Good old days, I'll give everything to go back once more and re-live everything that I did.
Same. I can't actually put it in to words how good it was and how integral it was to my childhood, I'm not a fan of kids being computer hermits, but 1.6 was literally a magical time of my childhood. I see so many comments similar, I'm glad it's not just me who feels this way. When you try explain to people who didn't play the originals (I started in 1.5) they just don't even come close to understanding.
@@Walktheline1991 I also started in 1.5! It was crazy how you'd find out people also played CS at that time that you didn't expect, kinda like how WoW was after it's release lol.
I started at beta 6 or 7, when it was a mod and played almost 9 years without stopping until the end of 1.6. Thank you for this video ! ❤ Seeing again cs_dangerzone, mansion, de_dust ( or dust1) the POD Bots and their crazy moves... Waouw ❤️
One thing that CS2 can’t get right (or create) is fun memorable maps like: assault, aztec, dust2, pool, militia, ice world, mansion. They were so simple but so much fun to play.
I think I just realized how much sounds sounded echo-y in older cs. Like you were in a large echoy space. I think that and the half life alien-like noises when you switch weapons really made the maps special
I start CS as Half-Life Mod on an LAN-Party... i was 9 or 10 years old. My brother played a game named "counter-strike 0.03 alpha" and the history began ... Now I'm 36 years :)
I've played Condition Zero all my childhood and I loved it! I'm so glad they kept the same voice effects of "Counter Terrorist win" and other alerts and commands. But switched to mobile gaming as I'm not a fan of PC gaming. I wish they make all these for iOS and Android. I'd happily play CZ without any changes of multiplayer support just outta nostalgia.
The biggest turn was taken at Counter-Strike source, after that the game started looking better and better, but we all fell in love and started to play the 1.6 version
I started on condition zero when I was like 8. My dad used to let me play it. Then I started to figure out how to get onto 1.6 and play, sometimes his friends would invite me to play thinking it was him. I would join a clan scrimmage and completely shit the bed. He finally changed his windows password so I made my own steam account by the time I was 10 and that’s when I started playing source. That’s my story
Shout out to all the CPL players who PLAYED HARD and WENT PRO before the massive contracts and industry attention…the original superstars of the competitive cs community…how small it was back then
I’ve played cs since beta 7 and it gave me at least 10% of the played time some fun 😅. Watching all the different versions make me almost cry.. time to realize that we became old. 1.5 was the best version IMO.
Completely agree on that. Playing on the old WON servers before Steam was released.... that was pure history. :) Miss the old times. I can't relate to CS:GO or CS2... it's a different game in my opinion.
I started the exact same way back in 99. Had no PC so I went to lan parties. Hell I even missed school classes 😅 Played all CS roughly 20 years damn. Time goes fast Im 36 now lol
It brings back so many memories and tears to my eyes. I don't remember if I started playing Counter Strike with beta 1.0 or 6.0, but I started very early. I thank my brother so much for introducing me to this masterpiece of a game. It really changed my life for the better. Thank you so much for that.
I started with 1.0 in 99/2000 or so.. such great memories. It’s funny how even now I can remember all the nooks and crannies of maps, my buying strategy, tricks and such. Really defined the childhood of that generation, and beyond.
I played CS since day 1 till 1.6. Im just a casual playing with friends. Good memories! Half Life was dominant one back in the day. -Half Life -Star Craft -Rainbow Six -Red Alert -Quake -Battle Realms -Warcraft -Diablo Were the shit back in the day! 🔥🔥🔥
I've started with CS portable on internet on my old laptop, now playing casual cs 2, started playing again from 2022 in cs go. Now i miss it really bad- there's no more retakes, danger zone, etc. modes, which i loved to play. We will see what the future holds, i hope they will add it 😕 all the best in New Year 😁
Started with source. The whole clan-thing was so much fun. Grinding to get sponsors for your own servers. Gathers in the esl. The mods (Zombie, Surf, Simon Says and many more) it was just perfect with no limits. The whole Community was a lot better back Then. 🎉
I have been playing CS since 2004, that time I was 11 years old. Now I am 30 yo, full time job, finished master’s degree, 1 year son, my body hurts from getting older, but I am always looking forward to kill some “noobs” or get killed by “noobs” now in CS2. My whole life I am playing only 2 games (except 1 year of PS4 with NHL and FIFA) and those aee CS and WoW (classic). Thank you for all the memories and beautiful moments. Cheers guys, I will be probably 40 yo if possibly CS3 comes out and we will be able to play together with my son. 🎉😂
Man I played this since 1999. You had to choose the right category of ammo to buy. The weapons survived the round, so there was a frenzy run at the start to collect them. And the maps dynamics were sooo different than today. cs_desert, cs_mansion, cs_wpndepot, cs_siege, and that one with the rocket, and that one with the river backroute... There was proper map rotation on the servers. Nightvision was actually a thing (maps designed to use it), but we cranked up the brightness and gamma anyways. And lag playing on dialed internet was unbearable. Goooood old days. Just raw, plain and simple fun.
Im Half life and Opposing force era guy. I still remmeber crossfire and yard map. ❤ Later 1.6 comes online, I playd it till the end then I got so dissapointed and stop playing cs till now. I start again now playing cs2 but it will never be the same as now , 35 years old guy. Sweet times and memories❤
Starting in 1999 this video brings a tear to my eye, seeing the graphics, menus, guns, brings nostalgic and what made this my favorite game. 25 years later - still playing CS :)
This game right here brought countless youth together all over the world, kept kids out of trouble, and really made up a big portion of my teens.. gaming cafe’s were a great time to be alive
I remember going over to my older brother's friends house and being introduced to cs 1.0 when I was around 7 or 8 years old. I was instantly intrigued by what I was looking at and after playing I was instantly addicted. CS may be the best game ever created. I don't play the new CS2 as much as the older versions when I was a kid, but I'll never forget where I started and how much fun 1.6 was and still is to this day. What an amazing childhood.
Original mod was better. Better maps like cs militia, mansion, lambda, cs docks, de dust was the most popular. There was even a goldeneye map. Sight on m4a, shotgun model and sound changed multiple times. More importantly never spotted a cheater at least in the mod version. Cheating began in 2003 but was rare.
What a time to be alive back then absolutely miss it. i remember being flabbergasted by people that could use the buy menue lightning fast by using the Nummpad.
The initial mod was better no hackers and better maps cs militia, docks, mansion, etc. Apart from todays graphics and a few bugs anything under 1.6 was fun times.
I remember when I played source for the first time after playing 1.6 for a few years, I was absolutely shocked how good was looking, one of the happiest days of my life.
I went from having landlines calls with my neighbor in 2002 when we would play in pump servers in 1.5, to playing in cal league with a bunch of guys I met somehow or another in 2006, to playing cs2 with the very same guys the past month. I met some of my favorite people through counter strike and had some amazing, hilarious memories associated with the game, it’ll always be legendary in my mind
Can someone pls tell me wtff is that deep voice you hear at 2:03 because i vaguely remember it being in cs1.6 also and I once activate it without knowing and it scared the shit out of me
Looks like I stopped playing during 1.3. Can still remember the maps, models and UI, but 1.5 and after is new to me. Those were my high school days and private LAN right after. Tried Source few years later but it just wasn't the same.
I was there Gandalf, 3000 years ago...jokes aside, the 1.0 was something new at the time and all of us who had the privilege to witness it, made us fell in love with the game when the 1.6 came out, it was its peak and my personal favorite of all time, LAN parties were the best, favorite maps were de_Dust 2 and assault.
Ohhh mennn I remember after school going on internet plaza to play Counter with my friends starting always with the open field level knifes only just for warm up what a mess it was, nice old memories you woke up with that video
Jesus, what a blast to the past. I was there when 1.3 arrived. Played until the end of 1.6 but never really got into Source and GO. Now I'm back for CS 2.
1.6 was the masterpiece it was better than any other counter strike and still may be. Endless hours with my friends in the internet cafes of vancouver bc playing this game and starcraft and warcraft such great times
As a 36 year old who started CS in 1.1, I still own most ppl and it feels so damn good. Was Global during all of CS:GO, level 10 faceit, and now over 20k in CS2.
Started on cs 1.3, went competitive in 1.6 and made it to nationals in aus, still play casually till this day with cs2 with old mates back in the day. Got my son into watching pro tournaments he has started his cs journey at the age of 6. How long does this epic game have left? who knows... but I sure do hope I get to see him compete if he ever has the desire.
I was 14 yo in 1999 when the mod first came out. Me and a bunch of friends played it non stop for 5 years. Now at 39 I still play it as much as I can but I had my 20 years of pause.

You know this video is legit when they mention 1.3 instead of jumping right to 1.5. Awesome job :)
thanks
there was also 1.1,1.2 and 1.4@@GameChronicles406
there were no fucking new weapons in 1.3, legit my ass.
@@Killerratte but new maps, voice chat etc
@@Killerrattewho hurt you buddy? 😂
Tears in my eyes. The good old 1.6 time with the boys. ❤
1.6 brings back so many memories. Get out of school, CS before parents got home, dinner, homework, CS, bed.
I started at beta 6 or 7, when it was a mod and played almost 9 years without stopping until the end of 1.6.
Thank you for this video ! ❤
Seeing again cs_dangerzone, mansion, de_dust ( or dust1) the POD Bots and their crazy moves...
Same here, bro. Im 36 and started playing in lans with my older cousins
When CS was just a mod, it was so unique. Nothing could compare.
This game is something where whole world enjoy playing together!
COUNTER STRIKE
Shout out to all the CPL players who PLAYED HARD and WENT PRO before the massive contracts and industry attention…the original superstars of the competitive cs community…how small it was back then
in my opinion CS Source was the Peak of CS
I had So many Amazing memories and moments with that Game more than any other CS game
From a mod to its own Game history Counter Strike is
I’ve played cs since beta 7 and it gave me at least 10% of the played time some fun 😅.
@@perasperaadastraat and UK2 servers wow, brings back lots of memories. 1 to 1.3 is when I played the most.
im playing CS since Sep' 99 ... started it at my first Lan Party with the Age of 15 :) Great times ... thanks for this Video
I started the exact same way back in 99.
Had no PC so I went to lan parties.
Hell I even missed school classes 😅
Played all CS roughly 20 years damn. Time goes fast
Im 36 now lol
It brings back so many memories and tears to my eyes. I don't remember if I started playing Counter Strike with beta 1.0 or 6.0, but I started very early. I thank my brother so much for introducing me to this masterpiece of a game. It really changed my life for the better. Thank you so much for that.
The skyboxes of cs 1.0-1.6 alone evoke nostalgia
Skating to the local internet café with friends, placing a cold red bull on my desk and booting up CS:SOURCE was a memory I will cherish forever.
que nostalgia em parça, eu comecei em 2003, parei por mtos anos... e voltei agora em 2022, o game ta insano
I feel like I'm back over 20 years ago, thank you for your video!
"Masterpiece" 24 years and they still can't fix the hit registration while Valorant swoops in and just does it immediately
-Half Life
-Star Craft
-Rainbow Six
-Red Alert
-Quake
-Battle Realms
-Warcraft
-Diablo
Were the shit back in the day! 🔥🔥🔥
I've started with CS portable on internet on my old laptop, now playing casual cs 2, started playing again from 2022 in cs go. Now i miss it really bad- there's no more retakes, danger zone, etc. modes, which i loved to play. We will see what the future holds, i hope they will add it 😕 all the best in New Year 😁
1.6 was the best IMO, I wish current cs had zombie mode like cs 1.6 had, such a good times
Started with source. The whole clan-thing was so much fun. Grinding to get sponsors for your own servers. Gathers in the esl. The mods (Zombie, Surf, Simon Says and many more) it was just perfect with no limits.
The whole Community was a lot better back Then. 🎉
Almost 40 and I ve played all these old modes as they were fresh! Gotta check the newest version sometime 😅
1.6 is just unbeatable. Played it all the time during my childhood. Thank you Valve for the beautiful memories.
FROM MASTERPIECE TO GARABE, 1.6 was the best
Cs 1.6 is the best. Cs cz is the worst
@@daniemang9977 cs cz isnt the worst, since its just a reskin of cs 1.6
@@daniemang9977you should play it definitely, it has its own story
As a cs 1.6,css and csgo this brings me nostalgia back in 2021
I have been playing CS since 2004, that time I was 11 years old.
Does anybody here still go play any of the old games? I know there's a lot of people that still play
nostalgia hit me like a sledgehammer when I saw FY_poolday at 2:53
Na minha opinião o que marcou época nas Lan Houses do Brasil foi o 1.5. Época boa.
1:09 FIRE IN THE HOLE🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
First assault map brought so much nostalgia I can’t even put it into words. It was so casual back then.
source was perfect. i miss it so much.
Nada chegará aos calcanhares do CS 1.6. Melhor jogabilidade de sempre. One love
Counter-strike condition zero: deleted scenes: “am i a joke to you ???”
Cs 1.6 with high school boys, lots of memories. ❤
Starting in 1999 this video brings a tear to my eye, seeing the graphics, menus, guns, brings nostalgic and what made this my favorite game. 25 years later - still playing CS :)
CS 1.6 is our childhood
There was something so magical about playing this on a snow day years ago.
CS 1.6 > all
🤌🤌
Source is pretty good imo
condition zero was my fav tbh
1.6 zzzzzzz
Source is better it has better ragdolls better graphics and many more
This game right here brought countless youth together all over the world, kept kids out of trouble, and really made up a big portion of my teens.. gaming cafe’s were a great time to be alive
Thumbs up if you played since 1999
I remember going over to my older brother's friends house and being introduced to cs 1.0 when I was around 7 or 8 years old.
Я не плачу.. Это просто дожь в глаза попал. 😢
CS is solid evidence that not all evolutions turn out to be good.
Thank you Valve for the great moments in my childhood playing CSCZ / CS1.6 / CSS.
What a time to be alive back then absolutely miss it. i remember being flabbergasted by people that could use the buy menue lightning fast by using the Nummpad.
cs2 needs a lot of work, its probably the worst state cs has been in.
i agree, it needs alot of work but i dont think it is worst than cs go beta :D
Game is a joke, forced beta (+cheaters)
@@codcrashx true, cheaters ruins everything
@@codcrashx on the subject of cheaters, VAC Live is at least doing its job.
Nope, csgo was way worse when it came out.
Nice evolution video 🎉
csgo feels better than cs2
Both are nsotalgia money grab 😂
I remember when Cs Siege was the only map and you could drive the vehicle into the SOB terrorists lol
we have come so far...
we certainly did, what's your favorite version ?
@@GameChronicles406 1.6 and source will always be the best.
I like csgo I miss csgo😢😢😢
Take a shot every time you hear, "Fire in the hole." 💀
I cannot truly explain how this game changed my gaming life. All time favorite game along with TFC.
We've come a long way gentlemen. And heres to more years to come🍾🍻
Can someone pls tell me wtff is that deep voice you hear at 2:03 because i vaguely remember it being in cs1.6 also and I once activate it without knowing and it scared the shit out of me
vaaay bee bütün sürümlerini oynamışlığım var
I play this Game since im 24 now im 33 this Game is still a masterpice
Looks like I stopped playing during 1.3. Can still remember the maps, models and UI, but 1.5 and after is new to me.
Those were my high school days and private LAN right after. Tried Source few years later but it just wasn't the same.
I was there Gandalf, 3000 years ago...jokes aside, the 1.0 was something new at the time and all of us who had the privilege to witness it, made us fell in love with the game when the 1.6 came out, it was its peak and my personal favorite of all time, LAN parties were the best, favorite maps were de_Dust 2 and assault.
Todd McPeak, if you're out there, thank you for introducing me to Counter-Strike during computer class in middle school in 1999!
Why is there a T-Rex's butt at 1:51?
My life memories were saved in these games. CSGO 2012 is still my favorite when I was broke in college until I succeeded in my master's of engineering
4:32 I wouldve lost my MIND if i kept hearing that shit in game
1.6 was the masterpiece it was better than any other counter strike and still may be. Endless hours with my friends in the internet cafes of vancouver bc playing this game and starcraft and warcraft such great times
As a 36 year old who started CS in 1.1, I still own most ppl and it feels so damn good. Was Global during all of CS:GO, level 10 faceit, and now over 20k in CS2.
tHanks for the video.. lan game to online game,,, great video.. bring back all the memories
