- So today we are diving into MORE issues with the Mustang, and diving into those issues; we find EVEN MORE issues! Firstly the rear axle on the mustang is actually twisting, yes twisting. So something is severely broke in the back end, whilst trying to find this issue we find that the diff is leaking, badly. So we have to take there whole rear end of the car off to figure out why, and lets pray its a part we can actually buy in the UK. Will this car ever give me a break? we love it though hahaha

I wouldn't weld a washer on it, I'd plate it with some nice thick steel and it ain't gonna happen again

It'd quite easy, for a fabricater/welder to remove that spot welded plate. I'd also put a thick plate on the other of the Chassis rail👍

yea id get some re inforcment plates mad up for there its like when we have to reinforce the rear sub frame mounts on the e36 welded some thick plate to stop the studs being ripped out the floor . id get some plate made up and get it welded in
That diff yoke you took off will have a bearing tolerance so don't just impact the nut back on when the new seal comes... you will wear the pinion bearing out of its too tight

I'd deffo be getting a plate in there, washer will be done by the first drift day.
Might be better getting the plate put on the other side so the arm can still fit back in.
Get some 5mm plate and drill the right size hole in it, a washer wont last long especially drifting

Best way to deal with them clips is find a socket that fits snug over spring collar to push them in and pull the cable out from the other side.
Also that diff looked like it had way to much back lash so its more than likely been wearing out the pinion and ring gear under harsh acceleration, This would also put strain on the pinion bearing, the movement in the bearing will strecth the pinion seal rubber causing the leak. I would get it all checked for peace of mind. Other wise you will just be blowing through seals like crazy.
I would bracket all 4 sides while you have the opportunity,also diff seal their should be a number on th seal which are universal descriptions
You can then order them from i places like simply bearings or Cole Palmer. Brilliant video by the way😵💫😈😊

I think it’s time to invest in a mobile car lift / car scissor lift they would be perfect for you with the limited space you have and I don’t no if your aware but you can get rollout awnings that would fit perfect above the garage door 😂 . Great content tho reminds me of when I was 17 😱

If there's enough room. Open the holes up in the chassis and weld some shoulder bushes in place

I think the best solution is to make a sleeve through the holes, a washer is a good idea, but the welding can make rust and weaken the frame if you do a sleeve through the hole just like the bush has leaf going through it that’s it. Do the job for you
Im sure it shouldn’t be resting on the threads of the bolt- thats why it has a shoulder. Get better bolts

Don't weld a washer in its will do the same thing again.
Weld in a semi captive hardened steel nut that's same thread as the bolt for your trailing arm. Fixed forever ❤

Definitely wouldn’t weld a washer to that lee wants some thick steel both sides & same on the other before it happens 😂
You’ll need a new diff mate if I remeber the damages to the crown wheel when you had it welded looks like the bearings had it causing that damage and that will have caused the seal to leak, a new seal will only fix it temporarily

Nah that was only a light hit to my rear quarter!
If the diff is flexing the seal on the diff will be Fubar mate. No designed for flex.
Send your diff to a gearbox specialist they will have a seal for it no doubt
