Brilliant Dean I put mine together yesterday and it works a treat I have never had my bandsaw running so dust free and now don't have to drag my vacuum around changing bags every few days

You wouldn’t believe my cyclone it’s home made from a sheet of steel that was never going to be used it’s as big as the Axminster cyclone. It was murder to shape but works well it’s also on a large blue barrel. So that’s half my workspace used up! The pipe work is a four inch hose sometimes into a block of wood with a hoover hose jammed in it. Posh. Love your setup.

This is perfect, just what i need in my shop. I have similar sized space and similar vacuum and cyclone. I think I'm going to mount my vacuum remote to a wrist strap, sick of putting it down and forgetting where i left it!

I bought one of those Cyclonic Cone, Valve & Bucket, and the bucket buckled as soon as I connected to my wee vacuum cleaner that my wife didn’t like anymore (ha ha ha)… Anyways, I’m now thinking to get those Triton’s Cyclone Cylinder [Orange coloured Drum], as that hopefully will do a better job with my Triton Shop Vac (I am not sure though)… Any advice will be greatly appreciated my friend. Being disabled it is very hard to get things done no matter how small those jobs are. I hope your finger is now mended (better be as this is look like two years ago), and you have updated the whole system by now. If you got any video of your updates please let us know. Nicely done Dean & as I’ve mentioned before, very similar to my system, which I’m also extremely pleased with, although I find the pond hose is a bit stiff on my mitre saw connection, so might get something a bit more flexible in the future. I think a barrel & cyclone will be next at some point, but I need to find space for it 🥴.

I was wondering how the system would work with a small diameter pipe and you reassure me that for fine dust it will be fine. Time to really sort out a system in my shop, getting fed up wheeling the hoover around. The CTS quick click hose adapters are brilliant and are well worth the money. I have colour coded mine with a dab of enamel paint on the adapter and a corresponding dab on tge dust outlet on the tool. Saves loads of time working out which one fits what! They are about £26 for the set of four adapters and one hose attachment.
Well it’s still new but it’s doing an awesome job so far. Yeah the CTS stuff isn’t crazy money, but I live on a pretty tight budget so it’s not happening for the moment

What about the static build up when using PVC? Was always warned about it being a nasty fire risk because of the wood dust and chips along with the risk of sparking? Is this true?
Hi Dean. I used the same waste pipe for my system. I changed the plastic container for a metal one as the relief valve didn't seem to work(it was leaking air slightly). My vacuum is a Henry, and works superbly. Keep those videos coming.
It’s a good question. The simple answer is that I didn’t. After doing some research it seemed like the chances of a static building up to that level is incredibly small
@@WoodworkJourney I think it would be nearly impossible to do. Because plastic and rubber o rings aren't conductors, you'd need an earth wire to every single component and bend etc and on the inside coming out to connect to earth.
Nice solution, just stumbled upon your vid/channel while researching. I'm guessing you're in Lincs or north Norfolk if you have fighter jets? I'm from Cromer before moving out here and am quite used to the jets :)
Great video just found u. Im guessing you dont run a thickness plainer am trying organise my dust extraction system its driving me nuts. My machines are 40mm fittings but the extractor is 100mm pipe trying get it to run properly is really starting do my head in. 🏴👍
I don’t use this system for my tablesaw, Thickness planer, or soon to come router table. For those it’s my HVLP chip extractor. A 40mm system HPLV system will not run 100mm pipe unfortunately.
A really can't figure out what am gonna do. I have a jet extractor problem a seem be having is trying get the fittings down in size. Do u have an email a could send u couple pictures see if you can shed any light
Nice system, I've been watching and getting ideas, got a 1000w Henry I'm going to put to the same use. Do you find suction as good on your furthest bench flexi hose as back at the beginning etc? Not sure does suction loss occur over length or is it really noticeable. Thanks

There's a video on UA-cam ( I think it's called "more suck from a shop vac" where ho tests airflow rates changing the hose diameter and finds best results with a 2 1/2" hose? A Henry is same principle as a shop vac as in low volume high pressure etc. It's an interesting watch if you can find it, if pos, watch it and let me know what you make of it. The parts aren't ordered yet....🤣
There's also one called " 2" pvc dust extraction system and workshop tidy up " by Greg virgoe which is worth a watch, he uses a Henry with good results. 👍

I have the same planer/thicknesser as you which uses the same large diameter collection port. Have you managed to find an adapter to fit it?
idk what type of plastic that is, but plastic pipes can be dangerous if not grounded. For safety sake, just run a copper ground wire to ground, and wrap/screw the wire to the pipe. Static can build up on plastic. I'm sure you've been shocked by a shop[-vac before. Same thing.
From the research I’ve done it seems that the danger is an urban myth, I completely understand why people think it could happen but as far as I can tell it’s never happened - I believe even Mythbusters tried it.

Great video I to am trying to figure out a dust collector system for my woodworking with many different connectors that require different port sizes
I’ve used spare bits of the 40mm stuff in the video and used a heat gun to melt it enough to be bigger or smaller to fit on or in tools

You will see it working in many videos in the future. I don’t think I’ve lost any noticeable suction from the vacuum though.

For my system I don’t notice a significant suction loss thankfully

No I haven’t, but to be honest I haven’t looked yet. That’ll be part of the next stage along with the tablesaw

Out of interest why did you use the pond hose over standard hoover/vacuum hose?
And how have you connected it to the FloPlast pipes?
Cost and diameter to be honest, I didn’t want to reduce the size more than I needed to

Good luck with the insurance payout when all that dust explodes. Alternatively find a way to ground the PVC.
