I love that you blank out the faces of your family. Kudos for that. Nice to know that your fingers and nose will not be freezing anymore in your nice new warm shop. Congratulations. Keep up the great work. Love and Respect from North London UK.
Your new shop is getting better and better and I feel envious of your high ceilings. Also great to see you not freezing while elegantly explaining your setup 😊
I went with an Oneida system, maybe 20 years ago... One of the best ever investments I ever made in my shop. They have new and improved just about everything. Mine is a 3 hp system, and my old shop was 24 by 36. My new shop is maybe 2400 feet, but the DC sits in the middle. The ground wire is a new thing. There has always been talk about static build up and sparking with the potential of starting fires. Never heard of it happening, but it doesn't hurt to be prepared. The sensor in the collection bin is new. I could have used it many times. I had found my filter totally full of 'stuff'.... Not sure what they say about cleaning the filter. When mine filled up, I ended up taking it out to the back yard, and then hosed off the inside. The old filters were paper, and it didn't seem to change anything, other than keep the dust down in the neighborhood. The quick clamp seals for pipe junctions is a great idea, as are the wire loop things for suspending the duct work. I do wish I had a 12 foot ceiling in my shop. Mostly so I could move full sheets of plywood around more easily. Hard to pivot a full sheet when you have a 9 foot ceiling, but my shop was designed so it would be converted into a house when my birth certificate expires.... The remote control things are new as well, I had one called 'the Lone Ranger'. It was set on an FM frequency so you could even turn it on from outside, and not have to point it at the receiver. I did make a point to have 2 of them. Mostly because I have several wood lathes, and lost one in the shavings. The one in the lathe room is on a hook. The other in the flat work room floats around since half the time I forget to put on my apron.... Any comments about removing dust build up in the filter? Some just tap the outside of the filter. I have seen some that had a 'beater' on the inside to knock the dust loose. One other feature I had considered would be a 'slow' speed so you could filter out all the floating dust in the shop rather than using an air scrubber thing....
So great to see you back! Super cool dust collection set up. That was scary to see all the fine dust particles on the wall and glad you're properly protected now.
Yeah, those bag filters are really awful. If only I could describe the “clean” smell my shop has now after turning the system on. It really is night and day.
Finally someone on UA-cam installing the BEST DC system and not pushing Clearvue POS! I have had mine for over ten years and it is the best! I hope you love it as much as I do.
My heart skipped a beat when you guys were putting that motor on the top of the collector base. Glad it went up with no incident. All my dust collection is Oneida. My biggest complaint is that you actually have to empty it. Because it's so effective. A good problem to have. Your install looks great. Congrats on the big upgrade.
Tamar, you did an awesome job installing that system! And yes, I could hear the increase in rpm when more than one gate is open. So happy for you in this new shop. It's beautiful. Congrats!
i'm sure you had a "blast" setting this all up. it's exciting getting pallets full of boxes. And it's a strenuous task doing all the research making decisions and how much of what to buy. but it's all for your health and worth every penny.
wow...! most excellent, tamar...! i can see now why it's been a while since your last video; you've been busy with the dust collection setup... you've come a long way since your first videos... your videos are very professional and well edited to flow smoothly and, thankfully, you do not let annoying youtube marketing mid-roll (dumb) ads interrupt the flow of information and/or demonstration you are presenting... i, as a viewer, appreciate that companies like oneida (and others) sponsor you so you can create content without the aforementioned annoying youtube ads and create videos that are entertaining and helpful... i look forward to more of your great informative videos...! (i especially love the videos on creating jigs for projects) thank you, thank you, thank you...!!! 😁🤗
Oneida has sure progressed since I bought my Oneida system back in 1994. It was Oneida first system. They where only really making cyclone separaters and oversized felt bag filters at the time. Which was attached to an off the shelf dust collector. I have been upgrading it recently with iVAC PRO Blast Gates and newer duct work.
Wow. I recently started following you and have so far made your router jig and your small crosscut sled, (which are my first ever woodworking projects) and it is amazing to see how far you have come. Congrats on all of the success. You deserve it. You make great content. I really appreciate how you break things down and your outtakes are hilarious.
That setup is a far cry from the unheated garage & portable contractor saw 🤣 (and yet, you still turned out great pieces!). Congrats on getting everything situated. Looking forward to the new builds!
I too used Oneida for my dust collection and it is still running after 20+ years. I wanted to have A) a larger shavings bin B) keep the intake line as straight as possible C) have the fine dust cleanout off the ground for easy cleaning. SOLUTION - 1) place the motor of the dust collector so it is between the trusses 2) cut a hole so the motor fits up in the attic with space around the motor for proper cooling 3) add insulation around the box that now protrudes into the attic I was fortunate to inquire on the best piping and used the same metal piping - simple and quick - easy to change for future machines
I just finished watching this video and I'm just sitting here with my mouth open. It's a great new space. The new woodworking equipment is a huge upgrade. When you add what you just did to the equation it is an exponential leap. I'm a step or two behind you in the evolutionary process and I am so acutely interested in what you're doing. Keep the videos coming.
Amazing shop. What a journey, Yours is best example of “Think big, start small” To Festools, Sawstop, Oneida from where you started with hobby tools. Thank you for amazing videos. By the way your router jig is the most used tool in my hobby shop.
I bought the 7.5hp regular Oneida cyclone and made an extension arm for a neighbor's car motor hoist to lift the fan-motor onto the stand. That fan and motor must have been 400 lbs. I was using my 170 lbs to counterweight to lift and as soon as I moved forward to center the fan on the cyclone cone the hoist would start to tip. Finally collected enough bricks from the yard to lift the cyclone into position. Without the hoist it might have taken 3 men to do that work. Oneida has been a good purchase for keeping my woodworking shop clean.
I am a 70 year old female antique furniture restorer. I have an electric winch mounted to the ceiling for heavy tasks. Lots of dollies and wheeled gizmo's everywhere.
The connection clamps are so easy to use and to modify. A new jointer is awesome congratulations. Like a kid with a new toy you will use it every day I know that I did. It looks so great. Very well done and now it's time to work. Thank you for sharing.👍♥️
This is awesome. I would love an Oneida system at some point! Hopefully when I’m able to build a larger shop… Your work is so amazing and your videos are phenomenal. I love that you go through so much of the process with us and explain what’s going on, and include the how and why! You’ve pretty quickly become my favorite woodworking creator!
Beautiful setup! Thanks for taking the time to share your considerations for each step. Every shop has it's unique quirks and tool demands. You really shed light on the ease of creating drops with minimal flex tube. Great table saw setup getting it out of the way even though its in the middle of the shop!
Wonderful system to collect the particles from the workshop... The most grateful will be your lungs and the walls of your workshop... congratulations on this achievement Tamar
Excellent work, Tamar, as always. I have the identical system in my shop, with the exception that I have added iVac automated blast gates throughout. They are absolutely game-changing. No more thinking about what's open and what's closed; you simply turn on a machine, and the appropriate gate opens while all the rest remain closed. Turn on a second machine, and its gate opens, while the one that was previously running remains open. Brilliant! Compared to the cost of the 5-hp cyclone and Nordfab-style ducting, automating the blast gates throughout is easily affordable. Can't wait to see your video on their addition to your new system.
@3x3CustomTamar Let me just say that it will take your dust collector to such another level that you will think it's in the stratosphere. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they wouldn't send you a handful of these for being such a popular UA-cam channel.
Put together my own dust collector yesterday. Called a friend for the motor.. and it went as you’d expect. Lots of talking about the best way. I was very happy I had a rope to tie it up while we figured out how to get it higher. The rope couldn’t be used to lift but it was great security. Used Black and Decker Workmate and piles of 2x4 shorts to stack it higher. Still a nightmare. I would have moved my electric winch from my trailer to the ceiling if I had known it would be so difficult.
You are a total genius!! I congratulate your venture based on the intelligence of the proposal and the strength and determination to carry it out. Big hug
Awesome. It is so exciting to get proper dust collection plumbed in the shop. A few months ago my dad helped me hang 4 & 6 inch pipe for the shop. Seeing it all and walking around without tripping over dust hoses makes me so happy.
You did a great job putting that system together. Slow & easily figuring out where the Drops needed to go. Your lungs will appreciate the cleaner air. This is going to be a huge improvement to your shop. Best wishes for you in all your future builds.
What a wonderful system! All the years of hard work have really paid off for you. I can't think of someone more deserving! Glad you had time off but even more glad you're back.
You've made an excellent video explaining your reasoning and showing how to add dust collection. I've seen a number of tedious videos on this subject - yours is engaging as well as informative. Thank you.
I am looking into setting up a system in my new shop with approximately the same # of tools. I know you went all in with Oneida and they most likely gave the best system for endorsement and completely understand this. But for those of us that do not have that luxury, can you provide a ballpark of cost and any suggestions where you think savings can occur. This is not a negative comment because of your association with Oneida, I just want to be informed before I take the plunge. Thank you for this insightful video.
that is just one heck of an upgrade. II am sure you'll love having all that power to hand when you need it. One thing though about the curves in the pipework. It still is true that you lose efficiency in turns, even though it can still pull the static dust and chips from your router table. If you had less bends, it'd do it better, and/or at lower power used / work easier. Nothing wrong with having a few (nobody's shop is "straight" after all) but minimising the 90's and using 45's can certainly get you an efficiency benefit. Ultimately the fine dust is the thing you want to eliminate anyhow, not big heavy chips, and that's about moving a greater volume of air and the fact you've got large main trunks going to the locations you have is great !
Hi 3x3 Custom , what a great improvement to your work shop, I like the smart hand control start up, Stay safe, I look forward to seeing your next project, and clean shop, PHIL FROM THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOULIN FRANCE,
I love watching my favorite channels grow! Cool to see how you progressed from a jobsite saw in an uninsulated garage to some top of the line equipment in a tricked out comfy workshop. So excited for you Tamar, can't wait to see what future projects come out of this shop.
I recently upgraded to an Oneida Supercell. Many options, many less expensive but none better. Plus I have clean shop OCD and using the 2.5” hose to sweep floors and tools is absolutely amazing! Well done on the install.
As a commercial electrician I run into Gripple systems for suspending light fixtures. They're great! Congratulations on the new dust collection system, y'all did excellent installing it!
Great video and excellent installation! Nordfab duct systems are great - and expensive - but worth it if one can afford it! I installed mine a few months ago and once I understood the layout needed, it went together fast! I have a ClearVue Cyclone 1450, and it is quite awesome with 6 machines and a floor sweep being collected via blast gates. Something I noticed about the 5 horse 3-phase motor was the heat gain. The motor when operating averaged about 135 degrees of heat dissipation (based on thermal gun readings) at the top of the motor housing. During the summer months this will increase the temperature in my shop significantly and likely will require added fans to move the heated air around a bit.
Love the bit on your router table. Wild how much of a difference this new system made! I really liked their full package for planning and implementing your ducting!
Glad to see the shop coming together. Watch for build up at the bottom of the double 90 degree lift. Consider a cleanout T or convert to a sloped run. The latter will give more suction a the end of the run.
That's awesome! I'm so excited for you! Can't wait to see your next build video! Also that is the same dust collection system we installed at the cabinet shop I work in. Although I wish you're video had been posted at the time we installed it. Because the other videos weren't as well expanded as yours! No offense to anyone else who has a video doing a Gorilla Pro, dust collecting system install! Anyhow thanks for another great video! Until next time! - Strong husbands are useful! Lol as are smart wives! Not that, not so strong husbands or not as intelligent wife's, aren't useful! No offense to anyone period! Lol okay I'm gonna shut up now, before my foot slips any farther into my mouth! Lol, take care!
So glad you are in your new shop with heat and now and good dust collection system. I used to feel so bad for you when your fingers were red from the cold weather in your old shop!
Congrats, looks like a nice system. Hope it serves you well and keeps your shop clean and your (and your family's) lungs protected. Congrats on the jointer too, the new shop is really coming together nicely!
Tamar, so glad to see you post a new video - we have missed you! Good dust collection will make a considerable difference in how comfortable it is to work in your shop. Looks like what you have now will make things much safer for you and your family. Looking forward to new videos of projects you build in this shop ... just hope they will not be as few and far between as in the past few months as I really enjoy your videos. Have fun in this new shop and make some really cool stuff!
I just finished up cooking dinner after milling some lumber and my kids will not be getting any extra fiber tonight like they have in the past 😂😂 really, it is a game changer, it feels so clean to work in there now. I hope I don’t take another break for as long as I just did, that was totally not intentional!
Thank you for the video I’m in the process of getting back into woodworking and so I’m doing a lot of research. Your video gave me lots of useful information
You did a great job! This is the 3rd video I've watched on installing ductwork today, and you made it look almost easy. I saw something when you were seeing how it worked on the individual tools. When you used the jointer, the bottom of your shirt looked pretty close to the blade guard. It's just something to be aware of! Anyway great job! Your shop is looking awesome!
Congratulations on you new dust collection system and your new shop looks amazing glad to see you back to making videos and congrats on your collaborations with Jonathan Katz Moses on your new tools.can’t wait to see what you do next
You deffently picked the right system, and you didn't make the mistakes most people do by trying to get away with too small a system. Yes they cost money, but if you buy 3 systems that don't work your spending more then just doing this in the first place. Hang on to the old unit, you can always set up a miter saw out in the garage to break down long boards when you get them in. Also you can have room for a cnc router just make the hubby park outside. He won't mind. My wife makes me park outside.
Nice shop! I have the same dc setup as you. Watching the lengths some folks go through to isolate the dust collector for the sake of noise reduction has always confused me. Any time it’s running I’m wearing hearing protection because I have another loud machine running. Go figure!
Nice to see you back! And a new jointer to boot. Great! Now, more project builds please. Can't wait to see something new. Btw, I am working on a wooden pedalboard design, and I am revisiting some of your vids to get some ideas with joinery. Keep it up, Tamar, stay safe and God bless
Thanks for your video, It really is a wonderful system. Didn't expect it to suck the dust from under your router so well. And your helpful friend has beautiful heart-shaped eyes!
Thanks for the new video. Setting up proper dust collection in a small shop seems to be quite mysterious. (Or, at least, I found it to be so.) Videos like yours are super useful! Interestingly, the Dust Gorilla Pro with the Quick-Clamp ducts is my current plan. Either that, or the High Vacuum system Oneida sells. After suffering with inadequate dust collection for so long, I would rather go overboard and have a system with more capacity than I might need. Thanks again!
Felt completely nostalgic watching this! Glad to see the shop is coming along! Looking forward to the inspiration you've always given me, seems it's been forever! Worth the wait, though!
It's been way too long between videos. So glad to see you making more, and thank you for the shop tour! I'm almost ready to install my own dust extraction (another 60 or so days, I think), and then I'll be able to start actually using some of the ideas you give.
That's an awesome installation you've done. I have housed my 3hp dust collector in a seperate room that's really heavily insulated. When it's on it makes no more noise than a pool pump so I have no problems with the neighbours. Perhaps you could install some walls around your unit to reduce the noise
The noise doesn't really bother me though since I am wearing hearing protection for my tools that are on. My shop is insulated with rock wool and my family said it just sounds like a dishwasher when its on.
Every time I walk in there in just a sweatshirt I take a big sigh of relief. Ha.
Yes I was thinking the same….looking great

Just like a lil child with a new toy... Gotta love the big smile. Congrats on the new system!
😂😂 thanks!
Tamar it’s sooo good to see you uploading again. I cannot wait to see what you are working on next
Go big or stay home…..I like your choices. You are a diamond in the ruff. Cheers!
So nice to see all your hard work fulfilling your shop to where it is today.
☺️☺️
very beautiful installation, perfect for a carpentry workshop and also for the health of the occupants
I miss you!!!!! Am impressed, motivated and feel encouraged by your videos....
I appreciate the time and energy you put into y your videos for us.
☺️☺️☺️
Just built a new house with 9’ ceilings and this style dust collection seems more than perfect for the plan. Great video!
Yes! Thank you!
I recently upgraded to an Oneida Supercell. Many options, many less expensive but none better. Plus I have clean shop OCD and using the 2.5” hose to sweep floors and tools is absolutely amazing! Well done on the install.
The supercell looks amazing too
As a commercial electrician I run into Gripple systems for suspending light fixtures. They're great! Congratulations on the new dust collection system, y'all did excellent installing it!
Thanks!
Your new shop assistant did a good job. You are now at Pro level!!
💪💪
I noticed the heat already. We shall see how that goes
Love the bit on your router table. Wild how much of a difference this new system made! I really liked their full package for planning and implementing your ducting!
It’s been a dream to work in here!
i bought the same unit for my three car garage shop and its a beast...you will love it, is sure do!
Already loving it so much! It’s been such a pleasure to work in here!
Glad to see the shop coming together.
Watch for build up at the bottom of the double 90 degree lift. Consider a cleanout T or convert to a sloped run. The latter will give more suction a the end of the run.
nice setup. Enjoy your new (good) dust collection!
Can’t believe it took me this long to get real dust collection. Thanks!
Like from the book, just passed the course on this but nothing to add, you explained it well and all correct.
Haha! We’ll glad this video is out there for everyone who installs it in the future!
Thats amazing, despite declaring this was not your forte, u did a pretty darn good job Tamar.
The instructions were very clear so it made it easy!
Congratulations on your new dust collection system. I look forward to seeing it in use and how you modify it in the future.
Awesome dust collection system. Also nice to see you have a jointer, a tool you come to appreciate as much as your table saw and planer.
Just used it on my newest project and it was the best most seamless glueup I have ever had. Ha.
Oh we miss you tamara, its nice to see you fine finally 😅, stay safe in your shop🌼
So glad you are in your new shop with heat and now and good dust collection system. I used to feel so bad for you when your fingers were red from the cold weather in your old shop!
I can’t believe I did that for so long 🤪
Congrats, looks like a nice system. Hope it serves you well and keeps your shop clean and your (and your family's) lungs protected. Congrats on the jointer too, the new shop is really coming together nicely!
It’s getting better and better every day!
You are seriously the coolest person in the world . I have no idea what you are talking about 😂 I am in awe .I can’t handle it
😂😂😂
A floor sweep is absolutely the best thing! Good for you.
I kinda just threw it in last minute and now I’m so happy. Ha
You had me at labeling the parts and sorting the hardware. I think we just became best friends.
😉
100% going back and watching this video was brilliant worth the watch on the missed content!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Welcome back. Missed you. Thats a nice system. You look like a kid at Christmas.
Haha! It is crazy awesome.
Congratulations on you new dust collection system and your new shop looks amazing glad to see you back to making videos and congrats on your collaborations with Jonathan Katz Moses on your new tools.can’t wait to see what you do next
Thanks! Busy working on a new project!
So good to see you back in business Tamar
👸🏻⚡️👩🏻🔧❤
Yep that onieda is the best system I have ever seen I want one.
Absolutely love this! So happy for you, Tamar!
Thank you so much!!
Awesome system and nice team work. I like the ceiling hooks and smart by assembling as much as possible before putting it in the air. 👍
It was really so easy to install by myself. Minus the motor assembly. Ha.
Thank you for the video. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would have appreciated you discussing cost.
There are links in the description where costs are listed
Go figure!
Yup! That never made sense to me either. I get the whole space saving issue, but not for noise reduction.
Posting a new one tomorrow!
Happy your back, its been ages.
Haha. I know… just lots of life stuff. All good stuff 👍
That is so cool. Dream shop goals right there. All it needs is the bluetooth, keychain, on and off!
A keychain remote comes with it!
Thanks for your video, It really is a wonderful system. Didn't expect it to suck the dust from under your router so well. And your helpful friend has beautiful heart-shaped eyes!
Haha yup! I was pleasantly surprised
You’ve made Oneida a nice ad. But more importantly, cool shop upgrades for you! ;)
🙌🙌
Glad you have a jointer now. That dust collection system is a beast.
It has changed my life. Ha.
So glad it was helpful!
It is incredible to see how far you have come. You have worked hard for your success, enjoy it.
☺️☺️
You’re such an inspiration! Nothing holds you back ♥️
💪💪💪
That's a good-looking system. I am sure you will really enjoy it. Also, you will really enjoy the jointer!
Already enjoying it!
You've been missed. Glad to see a new video from you.
I meant to take a month break… didn’t mean to be gone for so long! But I’m back! Ha
Waaaah.... pleasant surprise!! Nice to see you back!! Always enjoy your videos. Askwali um tu'mii'laih'tah (thank you for your work; Hopi)
🙌🙌
Felt completely nostalgic watching this! Glad to see the shop is coming along! Looking forward to the inspiration you've always given me, seems it's been forever! Worth the wait, though!
It has been a long time… just got a little busy with life stuff!
Nice to see you back with a new video. I missed you, but I imagined it was due to the new shop.
Just busy with life stuff. All good, the 3 kids keep me busy ☺️
It's been way too long between videos. So glad to see you making more, and thank you for the shop tour! I'm almost ready to install my own dust extraction (another 60 or so days, I think), and then I'll be able to start actually using some of the ideas you give.
Sorry it was so long! Life got away fro me. Ha.
@@3x3CustomTamar Life finds a way. I'm just glad it didn't take you away forever. Yours are some of the videos I really look for.
Wow !!!!!! Hats off to you. That was a lot of work. Well done.
Happy to see another video from you Tamar! Your shop is looking awesome!
