Finally I have managed to make a video with some tips and instructions how I use my favorite relic/military detector.

I use a couple of VLF detectors and with some WW1 trenches in the area I was looking into maybe getting a TM 808. Can you please tell me what is the max detection range for smaller items, like single bullets/cartridges, buttons, coins etc.? I've been watching your videos and see you target big items 1 meter down or more and artillery fuzes close to the surface. Tm 808 (or similar) is definitely worth having when going for the big targets, but how good is it for small items?
Its not to much I would say 10cm for a single bullet but even then its not easy to hear it. Cartridges are better but if you are looking for small targets like that I wouldn’t recommend TM
TM-808 Metal Detecting , thanks for info. I guess the best approach would be to use the TM for big targets and the VLF's for smaller shallow targets.
I do it when I can. I take a friend with me and he sweeps for small targets and I get the biggies :)

Depending on an object but I never dug anything deeper than 1.5m

Is this good for gold objects, looking for caves and tunnels?
If its a big chunk of metal it will find it I have never tested it for caves though

Hi, is there anybody out there who may have info about comparison between the TM808 and Garrets ,,GTI 2500 treasure hound,, ?
I hesitated to buy a TM808 .. although I am a convinced user of White's ,,historical,, analogue detectors .. as in all metal mode they compete with modern digital stuff (which is mainly aiming at discrimiation capability with DSP). Good ears and different response of material with the ,,old style,, detectors still seems to be enough .. except for short straps of barbed wire, nails and similar crap. However, even with modern discrimination, I doubt, that it can really blend out trash from valuable finds as conductivity, shape and mixed material of trash items lead often to false signals .. so ring pulls sound like coins etc. Cutting off conductivity sectors for sharp discrimination non-metal trash from coins shows only questionable success.
Until somebody can convince me of the depth performance of thr TM808 .. I will stick to my self-made double coil 100kHz from 1970 w/o any discrimination .. nearly 2m range for mainly WWII relics (looks like a TM808 but needs sensitive ears and finger tips for ground balance adjustment).
Did anybody ,,pimp,, a TM808 with bigger transmitter transistor circuit .. to enhance field distribution ?

TM 808 WAS USED IN THE 90'S AND LOCATED A GIVE AWAY 4 METERS DEEP

Isn't there a danger of accidentally detonating unexploded ordinance or mines, if you're digging metal in old battlegrounds?
Knowledge is the key You have to read and learn a lot before you even start detecting. But to be honest unexploded ordinance are very rare and you always should report them Not the best idea to dig them out on your own
Is it possible to detect an object as big as a fridge in 7m depth using this detector?
Im not sure I have never had a chance to find something that deep. My thoughts would be no, Although using headphones and having no interference might be able to hear a change in threshold. I would confidently say 3 meters but even though you will need an excavator to dig 3 m Not to mention 7. Better choice would be a radiodetector.
Ok thank you. What is the radio detector? Do you have a model in mind?
Can you do air test on your car to see if it gets detected? That would be a good indication of the performance of tm808.
Not really Just type in google as there are so many types But the downside is they cost a lot of money
I actually did test it but the test was not valid as you have to hold it vertically and my go pro, phone and keys where interfering. Will do a proper test when I have some free time :)

I would say 3 m with very big objects But its not tested as you will need an excavator 1.5m is probably 2 h dig as you need to dig around so the sand stop collapsing

My version does not have a cave mode unfortunately. Apologies but I dont know how good it is I think the older versions have the cave mode but mine doesn’t . Its best to ask Whites Electronics directly.

whats the maximum depth it can detect ?
Depending on how big the target is I have found cooking pots almost a meter deep
TM-808 Metal Detecting what’s if it’s a stone chest with silver/gold in it and the stone chest that’s anywhere 3”/5” thick. is about 2 to 3 meters deep. Is it gonna find it.
2-3meters deep this chest would need to be about 1-1-5 meter big for TM to detect it. But I have never found anything that deep as most of my finds are WW1 related and they are max 1.5 m deep
TM-808 Metal Detecting okay let’s say a Chest that’s 3 Meters deep & made out of stone & it’s about 2 feet tall 4 feet long & 4 feet wide, and the stone is 1 to 2 inch thick. Well it still find it ?
Not sure about 3m deepth but it should detect it at 2 m. You would have to use headphones though as the change in threshold sound is minimal at depths like this

That is effective only on exposed metal. Howvabout burried metal like gold, silver can it detect?
