I'd recommend metal detecting the Flander fields at Ypres, Belgium. The battle of the somme was there, and you're bound to find lots more fuses, shell cases, mills bombs, and other great relics.
Just be careful when looking for shells. Some of them are live and can detonate if touched (due to the fuses being impact detonated), there are also live hand grenades, so make sure to check if the pins were pulled or not.

+Overkill Ive seen videos on UA-cam of how many relics are still in the ground in Ypres. Maybe one day I'd go:) thanks for sharing

Never been to Europe in my life even though I know the good spots.. Wish I could show you stuff though! But you can't show what you don't have.

detecting there will get you blown up faster than I can say don't. In most parts it's illegal anyway, and there are so many things to be found there that using your eyes is easy enough
