After their Grammy was revoked, it wasn't given to anyone else. I think Soul II Soul should've had been handed that Grammy after that scandal was revealed because they at least did jack shit on their album rather than someone else doing the work for them.

Singer, songwriters, producers, engineers, & more of the like can be eligible to vote; if an artist unexpectedly wins a specific category, you have to acknowledge that it must have made an impact. Over the years, the nomination process has been fairly interesting because there are a lot of successful artists out there who don't necessarily subscribe to the notion that they need to create music that falls under the umbrella of one genre. The 'Best Folk Album' and 'Best Alternative Album' categories have somewhat consistently received interest because both categories have awarded artists that aren't really folk or alternative.
No doubt they are, and their album "Crest of a Knave" is great. However, when compared against Metallica's "...And Justice for All," there was little contest. Also, a flute, while made of metal, is not a metal instrument.
