For the people who may not know, there is a house immediately to the south of the Red Rocket where you meet Dogmeat. Behond the front door of that house is a Baseball Bat. I mention this because it's EXTREMELY easy to miss, and the Baseball Bat is legitimately one of the most effective and upgradable melee weapons in the game. It should also be pointed out that the unique effect of the 2076 World Series Bat is from the sticker, which CAN be removed at a workbench and applied to a different bat. So, if you buy the Rockville Slugger in Diamond City, you can apply the sticker to that Swatter, and have the 2076 Home Run effect, with the VATS enchanced Slugger.
If you avoid clearing the Mole Rat Den, that house and the small amount of salvage outside the den will repop each time the cell is reset. Its a great way to get plenty of gears (adjustable wrenches) and oil in the early game to build machine gun turrets. Plus you get the free chems, the Nuka Cola & the Quantum, and an empty bottle to turn the Nuka Cola into Nuka Free. If you take the fork in the road where the brahmin corpse & bloodbugs are found, you'll also find a combat knife on the grill outside the first house. I prefer a fast weapon over a slugger. You can also do the effect swap with Kremvh's (sp?) tooth, applying the 'sacrificial blade' upgrade & warped blade skin to any other machete so you get two effects on one blade.
@@kon0079 Not sure if I can help since I'm a PC player. You should be able to go to the weapons workbench & remove the weapon mod which causes the effect. That's how it works for Kremvh's Tooth.

"Where you meet Dogmeat" is a prepositional phrase which refers to the Red Rocket, not the house. When in doubt, use contextual clues & try to give the benefit of the doubt. This typically ensures less egg ends up applied to the face.
I feel like if you aren’t finding most of these you aren’t exploring and you definitely don’t have your face in the sniffing position scanning for scrap
The Cranberry Bog Area in Far Harbor is very personally memorable to me. I went there because the Icon on the Map was the same as a Settlement so I went there to try and unlock it…instead I got immersed into the Notes left behind by the Family, and the Dark Deep Fog really started to unsettle me. (Offset by my X-01 Power Armor) the Ghoul Family locked in the Shelter also kinda creeped me out, but what sealed it was the Drawing of the Family with the Faces and Eyes scribbled out. That really hit differently. I’ve never really felt scared of Fallout but that Single Note really got me. I don’t think we have ever delved deeper into the horror of losing your mind to Feral Ghoulism outside of this, and later the TV Show.

for the first one. you CAN actually go past 10. all you need is to decrease the special stat that is maxed out by something that will make it lower for some time. For example you can use beer to lower your int. then grab the book at make your stat go up, when the debuff ends you get 11 points of desired stat.

The true treasure of Jamaica Plain is the hallway with the tripwires. Disarm all 49, collecting the crystal & fiber optics. Then simply press the button at the end of the hallway and the tripwires will all reactivate. I craft overcharged automatic laser or plasma rifles for every settler, making the settlements easier to defend. That hallway is a timesaver if you're crafting energy weapons & laser turrets. Plus, if every settler & provisioner has a plasma rifle, you'll be gifted bits of nuclear material here and there when they kill enemies, which means more fusion generators and bigger and better-equipped settlements. Rather than carry overdue books, just visit Revere Beach Station. Most of the raiders carry book return tokens. I play on survival, so weightless tokens are preferred to books weighing half a pound each. As far as power armor paint jobs, my favorite is the shark paint scheme found at the Atom Cats garage. Its a throwback to paint schemes found on WWII fighters & the modern A-10 Warthog.

Ooooooo...THANKS for mentioning my most fav of planes, the A-10. Best known as a tank killer, with its 7 barreled Gatlin, of 30mm depleted uranium ammo. True, it is slow as Moses, so the bathtub's undercarriage is protected with titanium sheets. Grunts can hear this bad boy approaching 2 miles away, and when it unloads its pay load... music to the ears. Too bad the Pentagon is retiring this awesome piece of art. There is a particular country, fighting for its freedom, who would benefit greatly with A-10's added to its F-16 fleet. Hint hint, nudge nudge 🐈

It’s worth mentioning that I don’t think the Zetans and Lorenzo Cabot’s Alien Crown are the same species of alien. The Crowns design is completely different to all other Zetan Technology, which has a much more retro classic grey design, and Jack Cabot implies that the Lorenzo Cabot had something to do with the creation of Humanity, while the Zetans know next to nothing about Humanity even after Millions of Years studying us. They can’t even speak English. Also I’m really disappointed we can’t retrieve the Zetan body for the Institute and use the Alien Blaster to help them make not-garbage energy weapons and use the Zetan body to make a Zetan Synth T_T
I agree, it would've been awesome to retrieve the Zetan for the Institute. Thinking about it actually, it's kinda weird that the protagonist never comments on such an utterly groundbreaking discovery. I would understand in any other game but given Nate/Nora comment on things a lot, I've gotta assume the crashed ship was tacked on later into development to so they acknowledged the continued existence of Zetans in the game. Also, didn't mean to imply Lorenzo was part of the same alien storyline. I think the Cabot thing is more in line with the Lovecraftian horror inspired storylines. Very different set of aliens but still I suppose aliens.
@@SamBram Actually I wouldn’t be surprised if the Precursor Aliens were what attracted the Zetans to Earth in the first place. They wanted to find their effects on Humanity or something. I also think the Zetans are a dark view of the world the Institute would make if they won, treating other kinds of people as just test subjects and sources of information.
@@SamBram I think some of your companions actually do comment on the alien ship just not when you find it but when the random event triggers with the ship flying overhead to crash but yeah its weird that nobody says anything when you actually find the ship or the alien.

Also, the library code is an Easter egg from "Spaceballs". Also, pencils are a source of lead, which is a pretty rare crafting material, so you can use tokens to get some.
Uhmm, the Fallout shelter right outside the back of the library holds three books and the church across the library with a few mutants in it, holds additional books. Right in the neighbourhood. Plus the one from Daisy for doing her quest, along with those already inside the library is more than enough to get the magazine. Going all the way to Revere Beach Station to get tokens is kinda moot imo.

This game is insane to me. Ive only done a few main missions up to where i have to get to Diamond City and i am level 24 now and still havent even touched Diamond City. Ive just been doing a bunch of sidequests and running into random things that take me towards other random things. Ive never played a game like this lol. So much to do.
it’s been a minute but i heavily recommended you to track the main story and keep going until it’s done, it will help you learn what areas have which enemies and the higher level you get the more variety of enemies there are.
I have more than 2000 hrs in this game, and I still find stuff I haven't seen before. I'm gonna have to look for that cranberry bog another commenter mentioned.
@@aldunlop4622 I've been playing for about 26 hours and only done the first institute quest now. Never been immersed in a game like this. Started out feeling very clunky for me, but man I am glad I sticked with it, probably have another 200 hours of gameplay.
Something you forgot to mention with the Zetan spaceship crash site is that it only spawns after level 20. You will actually be able to hear it go over head and see it crash, depending on where you are at the time and what your sight lines are.
I've never caught it crashing, and I've been playing since release. It probably happens while I'm in dialog, in combat, or workshop mode. I usually go to the crash site when I hit level 30 because by then it should've already spawned
@@meaculpabeth Every base game companion (except Dogmeat), so 11 companion made a comment about the crashing UFO. Search on internet for: "companion-reactions-to-the-ufo-crash" and you find videos or textlists about that.
If you head inside the Mass Fusion building, go all the way to the top (you'll need a jetpack) and keep climbing you'll end up at a small office with a safe that contains the free fall combat legs alongside a terminal explaining where they came from. If you equip both of them you'll be invulnerable to fall damage.
(20:50) If you do find matching brackets, make sure that there isn't another set of matching brackets INSIDE the outer set. If you do the outer set first, you won't be able to benefit from the inner set. At least, that's been my experience.
Maybe Father Gabe was helping the feral ghouls by baiting settlers for them to eat, and the Sole Survivor messed that up by successfully saving him. Kinda reminds me of the ghoul from nuka-world

I often run to Sunshine Tidings as one of the first things I do for that copy of Jerky Vendor because crafting and cooking are a good way to get that last little bit of xp to finish off levels between quests and that extra meat makes it easier and quicker.
The death maze you can bypass it all by sticking a few landmines next to the door then get to the safe distance and then shoot the mines which will unlatch the bar that is holding the door shut. In fact that works on all latched doors.
Evan needs to be a recurring charater in the Fallout universe and I will riot if that's not the case. My headcanon is that Evan is a spirit of the wasteland that promotes kindness, and various settlers could promote his ideals as a sort of hint that he exists (as in you can visit him).
I don't remember needing to do a password to get into the public library, but I wanted to suggest that the 'guessed' access code is almost certainly a reference to Spaceballs.
There are so many pop culture references in the game it's crazy, from teddy bears doing scenes, to NPC names and side quests, to terminal info and notes everywhere.

(1:10) You can use the Special book to boost a stat above 10 if you can debuff that stat first. For example, if you drink a beer, you get a debuff of -1 to Intelligence. If your Intelligence is 10, and you drink a beer, it goes down to 9; you can then read the Special book to improve it to 10, and when the beer wears off, you have a permanent Intelligence of 11.
As a dude that had to dig for a living for his first job, i loved the shovel museum, there are 100s of different "shovel" designs with different uses and people that use them take the distinctions seriously. I have a "long handled spade" its essentially just a narrower shovel blade with a slightly shorter handle, lots of militaries use them
My grandfather (who served in the Army Air Corps in WWII) used to always correct us when we mentioned a particular folding shovel that he had that it wasn't a "shovel", it was a "personal entrenching tool."

Apropos Grognak magazines. There is one specific issue which will keep respawning, since it is located in a "Event spot" where random enemy groups will spawn. Specifically, it is the "Cometh The Trickster" issue laying on a madras in a ruined building upstairs, just north of Andrew Station (Right beside the diner with the underground access to Nick's quest) Also, the alien UFO only spawns once you reach level 20. There is even a special sequence tied to hitting level 20, where you can hear and see (if lucky) the UFO whooosh over your head in the direction where it will eventually crash. Green blood splatters marks a trail directly from the UFO to the cave.
19:53 I know it's technically 10451 but the code 0451 is a frequent inside joke in games, kinda like A113 in Pixar movies. It mainly appears in immersive sims, like the Deus Ex games and Prey, but has expanded to appear in stuff like Fallout 4. It's small but neat nonetheless
(19) Also hold off the school at diamond city and wait till you have curie (human form) you will get a big boost in points to gain her as you lover, if you speak to the robot teacher about love. People might think Dialogue has no regard during the game, sort of.... but the friends do as they require points to level up to gain max relationship benefits and unique perks.
Survival is undoubtedly the best way to play Fallout 4, and becomes even better once you have access to the institute teleportation, and the BoS vertibird grenades, you don't have to use them, but there are times when you just need to get somewhere fast, such as to help defend settlement attacks. Fun Fallout fact, fast travel isn't actually fast, as the game uses your walking speed, not running or sprinting speed, to calculate the passage of time while "fast travelling". It is convenient, but is the slowest form of travel in the game.
I play survival because I'm a video game masochist. I hate that Bethesda disables achievements when you enable mods. Yes I understand a lot of people use mods to add cheat rooms and make the game easier or ridiculous. Not me. I use mods on fallout and Skyrim to make it as difficult and realistic as possible. I feel like I should get extra achievements for the way I play - not get them all taken away lol
if you have a perk that is currently being suppressed ( beer etc. ) you can use the you're s.p.e.c.i.a.l to get the point back , and when the beer wears off , you can have 11 intelligence. forever .
things iv found so far from my 10 hours of play: a random t-45 power armor near the hotrodder flames bit sadly one of the limbs is missing im pretty sure its a leg. i also found a derailed train that has a power armor idk what one its missing an arm and leg and is locked behind a advanced terminal

Ok: tip for the noobs, at the start of the game head over to swan damm and jump in the water look for a lump mid water shoot at it and a secret door will open in one of the nearby houses. Once inside there will be a legendary melee weapon.
You don't have to fight the mirelurks when you get the luck bobblehead. Flip the switch in the boat and then run to the workbench and flip the nearby switch and all the mirelurks on the island will run from you and will not attack even if they are attacked.
OK but #24 reminds me of this- There is a shovel museum irl at Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts. The family that owned the land where the campus was built made their fortune from a shovel company. The Ames Shovel Company. So the college eventually made a shovel museum to honor them. They're... really proud of this museum. Needless to say I did not go to school there even though they really hyped up the museum on their campus tour.
The Shovel Museum is my favorite as a Mass resident. In a town near me, Easton MA, we had a man named Oliver Ames who started a shovel business, my friend used to joke that he founded the shovel. But at a local college, Stonehill, there is a “shovel museum” with donated shovels, and I like to think some Fallout developer was like “yeah if we’re doing Boston we have to add a shovel museum”
Oddly, when I first stumbled across Father Gabe on my stealth build the ghouls were in a circle around him but not attacking. The moment I broke stealth every one(including the Father) turned hostile. I bring this up because on every other play through where I went in guns a'blazing events unfolded as they do in this video.
Reg. the overdue books.. head to the Revere Beach Station at the coast and in an Raider infested building find a book return machine that also sells a fusion core. ;)
I saw the Live & Love magazine and immediately booted up Fallout 4, traveled to the Commonwealth from Far Harbor, then to Diamond City, just to pick it up.
Fun fact: the Grognak magazine in point 1 can be seen laying in that exact spot in the prologue, you can even interact with it for a lil comment by the SS. A small memory of the old world.
You can go to spectacle island super early. Just run to the boat, flip the switch to turn on power and then run to the switch in the trailer(follow the power lines). This will cause all mirelurks(including the queen) to either run or to stand there without attacking. If they do start attacking, just run back and flip the switch again.
The special book can be used with some beer that you can find in Sanctuary to boost your intelligence to 11 if you choose to make you int 10 at the start, do not wear any int boosting gear, and drink the beer. Before the effects of the beer run out (in particular the -1 to int) you will be at 9 int. Grab the special book & choose int, when the effects run out, you are at 11. Get the intelligence bobble then you are permanently at 12 intelligence for the rest of that play through.
I always run to red rocket to get dog meat and then head straight back to the vault to get the cryolator. Just start a conversation with dog meat as he stands in front of the cryolator and ask him to find anything useful. He’ll get the cryolator for you. Even if the box never gets unlocked. lol. Ps. The cave under red rocket has a fusion core in it. I’m surprised that you never mentioned the XO2 armour in the glowing sea following the am-810 radio broadcast (the devil quest)
As a lot of these entries are centred around Legendary Weapons, I'd like to recommend using the Nexus Mod Unique Uniques, which replaces possibly all unique weapons in the base game with new models and new abilities.
I recommend that you keep the You're S.P.E.C.I.A.L. book for when when you have 10 in the particular attribute that you want to increase. Find a way to temporarily reduce that below 10 before activating the book will allow you to have 11 in that attribute before you boost it with the related Bobblehead, which after you apply the Bobblehead then your base attribute score will be 12.
I've been playing this game for years and just the other day found the Robco Magazine in Nick Valentines detective agency lol. Also just learned how to duplicate crafting items which is a huge help
(18:00) Big Jim (and other kneecapper weapons) are devastating against melee-only enemies. The Behemoth that lives south of Waldon Pond? Completely helpless if its legs are crippled. Same goes for ghouls, mirelurks, and even deathclaws.
Misinformation in the very first tip. Great Job. Once you have access to the workshop you can use tab to store the YOUR SPECIAL book. You can then drop it on the ground to pick up once you have any stat at 10 (witout buffs), to scale that stat permenantly to 11. The stat will still only say 10 in game but will register at 11 in the game files. Same goes for picking up bobbleheads once already at 10.
Another Free Gift you can get is During the Cova Power plant quest on top of one of the silos you can find a bobble had giving you a 10% fusion cores last longer
Just want to point out that the special book CAN level raise your stats over 10, you just need to take a chem that lowers the attribute you’re going for and then using the book

Fun Fact! that You're Special book can be duplicated and if you use the right chems to lower your special stats from 10, you can have a permanent higher than 10 stat
On Spectacle Island, on top of the boat where you summon the Mirelurk Queen, there's a legendary gun called Harbormaster. You have to get it Before summoning the Queen or it vanishes. Gotta jump Really High to get it though because it's literally at the very top of the boat.
Ferals don't attack other ghouls unless they are attacked. My guess has always been that Father Gabe was actually turning feral and lost control and attacked the other ghouls and this is why he also attacks the player.
No.1 If you dont pick up the book until a stat is 11 (via the bobblehead picked up while stat 10.) you can get a natural stat of 12. No.2 Gold bars are more valuable for trade than crafting. Gold is common via watches & lockets Ive made hundreds of robots & never ran out of gold.
You reaĺy need to learn where the cardinal points (north south east west) are when giving directions. Anyone following your directions faithfully, without looking at the map (a mistake in and of itself) will invariably get lost. If north is at the top of a map (as it is with the pipboy map, and incidentally, by convention, is by default if no north point is given on said map) then west is always to the LEFT of a given marker point. Your "descriptions" pretty much have that back to front for the entire video.
Love the fallout 4 content I've put a day in the commonwealth in the last week and I'm really enjoying playing and just finish the exploring and tank up my settlements before I get dlc
I think the father gabe situation would play out entirely different with the 9END perk that turns you into a ghoul. I'm going to give it a try. Also the alien doesn't arrive east of oberland until level 20
The Terminal trick gives more options based on your intelligence. If you have a 1 int you don't get very many dud removals but if you have like a 10 you can remove all but the only real password.
You can get more than base stats!!!! You have to use a chem/drink/food that decreases the stat you want to improve, use said item, and while still under the effects, grab the book and increase which ever special stat you want. Andddd volia!! 11 base stat
Just wanted to add on #11 there is another book return machine in revere beach station located west of the reeb marina there is a lot of raiders that have a lot of those tokens and the machine actually contains a fusion core as part of the prizes.
I searched that farm in Far Harbor for HOURS without ever finding the end of the puzzle. I eventually put it down as a broken (and very sad) quest and moved on.

Do NOT pick Charisma early on. You don't need it, focus on building a character who can sneak, do great damage and criticals (Agility+Luck). You can always carry clothing that gives extra Charisma stats. For example: -Either the Dress Suit for 2 Charisma or the new fallout shirts for 3 charisma.. -Formal Hat/Newsboy Hat.. 1 Charisma -Black Glasses/Fashionable Glasses 1 Charisma -create Grape Mentas with Hubflower, Mentas and Whiskey for 5 Charisma. Total: 5 Charisma... 10 Charisma with Grape Mentas.. You can also drink beer for 1 Charisma or Brovovs best for 3 charisma if you don't have Grape Mentas. I only upgraded my charisma stat when I am finally building settlements and workshops.
The first one is wrong. The SPECIAL book can pump a stat to 11 provided a) it already is normally at 10 and b) currently temporarily lowered to 9 or lower. The easiest way to demonstrate this starting with 10 Intelligence and grabbing & drinking one of the beers you can find in Sanctuary (buffs Strength and Endurance, lowers Intelligence by 1 temporarily) and then using the SPECIAL book - once the beer debuffs wears off you'll have 11 Intelligence.
I think the father Gabe one has to do with what happened in the show. If you don't want spoilers stop reading. In The Walking Dead, the survivors go to a food pantry that Gabriel tells them about where the are attacked by his old flock.
I usually wait until I'm high enough level to guarantee it will spawn as an X-01 suit before I collect that one. That usually happens around level 40 or 45, IIRC.

The Cranberry Bog Area in Far Harbor is very personally memorable to me. I went there because the Icon on the Map was the same as a Settlement so I went there to try and unlock it…instead I got immersed into the Notes left behind by the Family, and the Dark Deep Fog really started to unsettle me. (Offset by my X-01 Power Armor) the Ghoul Family locked in the Shelter also kinda creeped me out, but what sealed it was the Drawing of the Family with the Faces and Eyes scribbled out. That really hit differently. I’ve never really felt scared of Fallout but that Single Note really got me. I don’t think we have ever delved deeper into the horror of losing your mind to Feral Ghoulism outside of this, and later the TV Show.

for the first one. you CAN actually go past 10. all you need is to decrease the special stat that is maxed out by something that will make it lower for some time. For example you can use beer to lower your int. then grab the book at make your stat go up, when the debuff ends you get 11 points of desired stat.

The true treasure of Jamaica Plain is the hallway with the tripwires. Disarm all 49, collecting the crystal & fiber optics. Then simply press the button at the end of the hallway and the tripwires will all reactivate. I craft overcharged automatic laser or plasma rifles for every settler, making the settlements easier to defend. That hallway is a timesaver if you're crafting energy weapons & laser turrets.
Plus, if every settler & provisioner has a plasma rifle, you'll be gifted bits of nuclear material here and there when they kill enemies, which means more fusion generators and bigger and better-equipped settlements.
Rather than carry overdue books, just visit Revere Beach Station. Most of the raiders carry book return tokens. I play on survival, so weightless tokens are preferred to books weighing half a pound each.
As far as power armor paint jobs, my favorite is the shark paint scheme found at the Atom Cats garage. Its a throwback to paint schemes found on WWII fighters & the modern A-10 Warthog.

Ooooooo...THANKS for mentioning my most fav of planes, the A-10. Best known as a tank killer, with its 7 barreled Gatlin, of 30mm depleted uranium ammo. True, it is slow as Moses, so the bathtub's undercarriage is protected with titanium sheets. Grunts can hear this bad boy approaching 2 miles away, and when it unloads its pay load... music to the ears. Too bad the Pentagon is retiring this awesome piece of art. There is a particular country, fighting for its freedom, who would benefit greatly with A-10's added to its F-16 fleet. Hint hint, nudge nudge 🐈

It’s worth mentioning that I don’t think the Zetans and Lorenzo Cabot’s Alien Crown are the same species of alien. The Crowns design is completely different to all other Zetan Technology, which has a much more retro classic grey design, and Jack Cabot implies that the Lorenzo Cabot had something to do with the creation of Humanity, while the Zetans know next to nothing about Humanity even after Millions of Years studying us. They can’t even speak English.
Also I’m really disappointed we can’t retrieve the Zetan body for the Institute and use the Alien Blaster to help them make not-garbage energy weapons and use the Zetan body to make a Zetan Synth T_T
I agree, it would've been awesome to retrieve the Zetan for the Institute. Thinking about it actually, it's kinda weird that the protagonist never comments on such an utterly groundbreaking discovery. I would understand in any other game but given Nate/Nora comment on things a lot, I've gotta assume the crashed ship was tacked on later into development to so they acknowledged the continued existence of Zetans in the game.
Also, didn't mean to imply Lorenzo was part of the same alien storyline. I think the Cabot thing is more in line with the Lovecraftian horror inspired storylines. Very different set of aliens but still I suppose aliens.
@@SamBram Actually I wouldn’t be surprised if the Precursor Aliens were what attracted the Zetans to Earth in the first place. They wanted to find their effects on Humanity or something.
I also think the Zetans are a dark view of the world the Institute would make if they won, treating other kinds of people as just test subjects and sources of information.

(16:00) The raiders at Revere Beach Station on the east coast carry a LOT of book return tokens. It's a great place to get enough to afford the Massachusetts Medical Journal. Also, the library code is an Easter egg from "Spaceballs". Also, pencils are a source of lead, which is a pretty rare crafting material, so you can use tokens to get some.
Uhmm, the Fallout shelter right outside the back of the library holds three books and the church across the library with a few mutants in it, holds additional books. Right in the neighbourhood. Plus the one from Daisy for doing her quest, along with those already inside the library is more than enough to get the magazine. Going all the way to Revere Beach Station to get tokens is kinda moot imo.

This game is insane to me. Ive only done a few main missions up to where i have to get to Diamond City and i am level 24 now and still havent even touched Diamond City.

it’s been a minute but i heavily recommended you to track the main story and keep going until it’s done, it will help you learn what areas have which enemies and the higher level you get the more variety of enemies there are.
This game is a massive rabbit hole. There are SO many side quests and hidden items it's bonkers.
I have more than 2000 hrs in this game, and I still find stuff I haven't seen before. I'm gonna have to look for that cranberry bog another commenter mentioned.

Something you forgot to mention with the Zetan spaceship crash site is that it only spawns after level 20. You will actually be able to hear it go over head and see it crash, depending on where you are at the time and what your sight lines are.
I've never caught it crashing, and I've been playing since release. It probably happens while I'm in dialog, in combat, or workshop mode. I usually go to the crash site when I hit level 30 because by then it should've already spawned
I think MacCready mentioned watching it fall out of the sky while we were walking somewhere but I still missed it falling lol.

If you head inside the Mass Fusion building, go all the way to the top (you'll need a jetpack) and keep climbing you'll end up at a small office with a safe that contains the free fall combat legs alongside a terminal explaining where they came from. If you equip both of them you'll be invulnerable to fall damage.

I often run to Sunshine Tidings as one of the first things I do for that copy of Jerky Vendor because crafting and cooking are a good way to get that last little bit of xp to finish off levels between quests and that extra meat makes it easier and quicker.

Evan needs to be a recurring charater in the Fallout universe and I will riot if that's not the case.
My headcanon is that Evan is a spirit of the wasteland that promotes kindness, and various settlers could promote his ideals as a sort of hint that he exists (as in you can visit him).
I'm a compulsive explorer type and have played through Fallout 4 multiple times. I have *never* seen Father Gabe before.
I don't remember needing to do a password to get into the public library, but I wanted to suggest that the 'guessed' access code is almost certainly a reference to Spaceballs.

There are so many pop culture references in the game it's crazy, from teddy bears doing scenes, to NPC names and side quests, to terminal info and notes everywhere.
The Cranberry Bog quest reminded me of earlier fallout and elder scrolls games. You had to explore and read everything for clues.

(1:10) You can use the Special book to boost a stat above 10 if you can debuff that stat first. For example, if you drink a beer, you get a debuff of -1 to Intelligence. If your Intelligence is 10, and you drink a beer, it goes down to 9; you can then read the Special book to improve it to 10, and when the beer wears off, you have a permanent Intelligence of 11.
Fun fact the gold bars in FO4 are worth 1200 more caps per unit carry weight than the gold bars in the Dead money DLC

As a dude that had to dig for a living for his first job, i loved the shovel museum, there are 100s of different "shovel" designs with different uses and people that use them take the distinctions seriously. I have a "long handled spade" its essentially just a narrower shovel blade with a slightly shorter handle, lots of militaries use them
My grandfather (who served in the Army Air Corps in WWII) used to always correct us when we mentioned a particular folding shovel that he had that it wasn't a "shovel", it was a "personal entrenching tool."

Apropos Grognak magazines. There is one specific issue which will keep respawning, since it is located in a "Event spot" where random enemy groups will spawn. Specifically, it is the "Cometh The Trickster" issue laying on a madras in a ruined building upstairs, just north of Andrew Station (Right beside the diner with the underground access to Nick's quest)
Also, the alien UFO only spawns once you reach level 20. There is even a special sequence tied to hitting level 20, where you can hear and see (if lucky) the UFO whooosh over your head in the direction where it will eventually crash. Green blood splatters marks a trail directly from the UFO to the cave.
Great video though for the alien blaster you have to be level 20 for the ship to crash
19:53 I know it's technically 10451 but the code 0451 is a frequent inside joke in games, kinda like A113 in Pixar movies. It mainly appears in immersive sims, like the Deus Ex games and Prey, but has expanded to appear in stuff like Fallout 4. It's small but neat nonetheless

Survival is undoubtedly the best way to play Fallout 4, and becomes even better once you have access to the institute teleportation, and the BoS vertibird grenades, you don't have to use them, but there are times when you just need to get somewhere fast, such as to help defend settlement attacks.
Fun Fallout fact, fast travel isn't actually fast, as the game uses your walking speed, not running or sprinting speed, to calculate the passage of time while "fast travelling". It is convenient, but is the slowest form of travel in the game.

I play survival because I'm a video game masochist. I hate that Bethesda disables achievements when you enable mods. Yes I understand a lot of people use mods to add cheat rooms and make the game easier or ridiculous. Not me. I use mods on fallout and Skyrim to make it as difficult and realistic as possible. I feel like I should get extra achievements for the way I play - not get them all taken away lol
if you have a perk that is currently being suppressed ( beer etc. ) you can use the you're s.p.e.c.i.a.l to get the point back , and when the beer wears off , you can have 11 intelligence. forever .
In Jamaica plains, you can reset the laser grid by closing the door at the end. Pick as much crystal and copper as you want.
things iv found so far from my 10 hours of play: a random t-45 power armor near the hotrodder flames bit sadly one of the limbs is missing im pretty sure its a leg. i also found a derailed train that has a power armor idk what one its missing an arm and leg and is locked behind a advanced terminal

Ok: tip for the noobs, at the start of the game head over to swan damm and jump in the water look for a lump mid water shoot at it and a secret door will open in one of the nearby houses. Once inside there will be a legendary melee weapon.
You don't have to fight the mirelurks when you get the luck bobblehead. Flip the switch in the boat and then run to the workbench and flip the nearby switch and all the mirelurks on the island will run from you and will not attack even if they are attacked.
OK but #24 reminds me of this- There is a shovel museum irl at Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts. The family that owned the land where the campus was built made their fortune from a shovel company. The Ames Shovel Company. So the college eventually made a shovel museum to honor them. They're... really proud of this museum. Needless to say I did not go to school there even though they really hyped up the museum on their campus tour.
The Shovel Museum is my favorite as a Mass resident. In a town near me, Easton MA, we had a man named Oliver Ames who started a shovel business, my friend used to joke that he founded the shovel. But at a local college, Stonehill, there is a “shovel museum” with donated shovels, and I like to think some Fallout developer was like “yeah if we’re doing Boston we have to add a shovel museum”
Oddly, when I first stumbled across Father Gabe on my stealth build the ghouls were in a circle around him but not attacking. The moment I broke stealth every one(including the Father) turned hostile. I bring this up because on every other play through where I went in guns a'blazing events unfolded as they do in this video.
Reg. the overdue books.. head to the Revere Beach Station at the coast and in an Raider infested building find a book return machine that also sells a fusion core. ;)
I saw the Live & Love magazine and immediately booted up Fallout 4, traveled to the Commonwealth from Far Harbor, then to Diamond City, just to pick it up.
Fun fact: the Grognak magazine in point 1 can be seen laying in that exact spot in the prologue, you can even interact with it for a lil comment by the SS.

there’s also x-02 power armor you can get through speak of the devils quest
You can go to spectacle island super early. Just run to the boat, flip the switch to turn on power and then run to the switch in the trailer(follow the power lines). This will cause all mirelurks(including the queen) to either run or to stand there without attacking. If they do start attacking, just run back and flip the switch again.
The special book can be used with some beer that you can find in Sanctuary to boost your intelligence to 11 if you choose to make you int 10 at the start, do not wear any int boosting gear, and drink the beer. Before the effects of the beer run out (in particular the -1 to int) you will be at 9 int. Grab the special book & choose int, when the effects run out, you are at 11. Get the intelligence bobble then you are permanently at 12 intelligence for the rest of that play through.
I always run to red rocket to get dog meat and then head straight back to the vault to get the cryolator. Just start a conversation with dog meat as he stands in front of the cryolator and ask him to find anything useful. He’ll get the cryolator for you. Even if the box never gets unlocked. lol.
Ps. The cave under red rocket has a fusion core in it.

As a lot of these entries are centred around Legendary Weapons, I'd like to recommend using the Nexus Mod Unique Uniques, which replaces possibly all unique weapons in the base game with new models and new abilities.

I recommend that you keep the You're S.P.E.C.I.A.L. book for when when you have 10 in the particular attribute that you want to increase. Find a way to temporarily reduce that below 10 before activating the book will allow you to have 11 in that attribute before you boost it with the related Bobblehead, which after you apply the Bobblehead then your base attribute score will be 12.
I've been playing this game for years and just the other day found the Robco Magazine in Nick Valentines detective agency lol. Also just learned how to duplicate crafting items which is a huge help
(18:00) Big Jim (and other kneecapper weapons) are devastating against melee-only enemies. The Behemoth that lives south of Waldon Pond? Completely helpless if its legs are crippled. Same goes for ghouls, mirelurks, and even deathclaws.
Misinformation in the very first tip. Great Job. Once you have access to the workshop you can use tab to store the YOUR SPECIAL book. You can then drop it on the ground to pick up once you have any stat at 10 (witout buffs), to scale that stat permenantly to 11. The stat will still only say 10 in game but will register at 11 in the game files. Same goes for picking up bobbleheads once already at 10.

For the you're Special book yes you can get a point after 10 it just takes having all perk bases at 10 first.
Fun Fact! that You're Special book can be duplicated and if you use the right chems to lower your special stats from 10, you can have a permanent higher than 10 stat
On Spectacle Island, on top of the boat where you summon the Mirelurk Queen, there's a legendary gun called Harbormaster. You have to get it Before summoning the Queen or it vanishes.
Gotta jump Really High to get it though because it's literally at the very top of the boat.
Gold has value even in post apocalyptic scenarios specifically because it's used as a conducting material in many electronics.
Ferals don't attack other ghouls unless they are attacked. My guess has always been that Father Gabe was actually turning feral and lost control and attacked the other ghouls and this is why he also attacks the player.
No.1 If you dont pick up the book until a stat is 11 (via the bobblehead picked up while stat 10.) you can get a natural stat of 12.
No.2 Gold bars are more valuable for trade than crafting. Gold is common via watches & lockets Ive made hundreds of robots & never ran out of gold.

You reaĺy need to learn where the cardinal points (north south east west) are when giving directions. Anyone following your directions faithfully, without looking at the map (a mistake in and of itself) will invariably get lost. If north is at the top of a map (as it is with the pipboy map, and incidentally, by convention, is by default if no north point is given on said map) then west is always to the LEFT of a given marker point. Your "descriptions" pretty much have that back to front for the entire video.
For the first one you CAN bypass by reduceing a stat via any drug or alcohol item first then using the your special book

I think the father gabe situation would play out entirely different with the 9END perk that turns you into a ghoul. I'm going to give it a try. Also the alien doesn't arrive east of oberland until level 20
The Terminal trick gives more options based on your intelligence. If you have a 1 int you don't get very many dud removals but if you have like a 10 you can remove all but the only real password.
You can get more than base stats!!!! You have to use a chem/drink/food that decreases the stat you want to improve, use said item, and while still under the effects, grab the book and increase which ever special stat you want. Andddd volia!! 11 base stat
tip if your in nuka-world dlc don't throw away the space suits you collect. (if you got mods , they can be scrapped)

The password to the library is probably the easy way in the more common is Thu the underground station and picking the advanced level lock
Just wanted to add on #11 there is another book return machine in revere beach station located west of the reeb marina there is a lot of raiders that have a lot of those tokens and the machine actually contains a fusion core as part of the prizes.
I searched that farm in Far Harbor for HOURS without ever finding the end of the puzzle. I eventually put it down as a broken (and very sad) quest and moved on.

on the You’re S.P.E.C.I.A.L. book, if you take a chem/drink alchohol that lowers that specific stat while it’s at a 10, it tricks the game into letting you use it, thus boosting it to 11
alternatively ive heard (havent confirmed though) that if you use a bobblehead on a stat with 10 (they can boost them to 11 without any shenanigans), then you can use the book on that stat without any intervening
Do NOT pick Charisma early on. You don't need it, focus on building a character who can sneak, do great damage and criticals (Agility+Luck). You can always carry clothing that gives extra Charisma stats. For example:
-Either the Dress Suit for 2 Charisma or the new fallout shirts for 3 charisma..
-Formal Hat/Newsboy Hat.. 1 Charisma
-Black Glasses/Fashionable Glasses 1 Charisma
-create Grape Mentas with Hubflower, Mentas and Whiskey for 5 Charisma.
Total: 5 Charisma... 10 Charisma with Grape Mentas..
You can also drink beer for 1 Charisma or Brovovs best for 3 charisma if you don't have Grape Mentas.
I only upgraded my charisma stat when I am finally building settlements and workshops.
The first one is wrong. The SPECIAL book can pump a stat to 11 provided a) it already is normally at 10 and b) currently temporarily lowered to 9 or lower.
The easiest way to demonstrate this starting with 10 Intelligence and grabbing & drinking one of the beers you can find in Sanctuary (buffs Strength and Endurance, lowers Intelligence by 1 temporarily) and then using the SPECIAL book - once the beer debuffs wears off you'll have 11 Intelligence.

I think the father Gabe one has to do with what happened in the show. If you don't want spoilers stop reading. In The Walking Dead, the survivors go to a food pantry that Gabriel tells them about where the are attacked by his old flock.
Court305 full suit of power armor is always a nice little gift
I usually wait until I'm high enough level to guarantee it will spawn as an X-01 suit before I collect that one. That usually happens around level 40 or 45, IIRC.

@@Mr._Anderpson I think that's just where it has a chance of appearing. Its not guaranteed to be a suit of x-01 until around level 40.
